The car had a flat tire, and we had a spare, so we called AAA for help changing the tire. CJ Auto & Tow called us back almost immediately and after confirming that we had a spare, asked us if it were a good one. Not everyone has the understanding and bodily strength to confirm if the good spare they stuck in their trunk is still any good months or years later. I hope they have a method to still help those like me. But fortunately my dad had the know how this time, and our spare was a good one. They had a car in our area so we were quoted 5 minutes. Highly unusual for AAA; I understood we were just fortunate this time. A flatbed tow truck showed up with a young man behind the wheel. He put on his gloves, took out our spare, pulled out his floor jack and air gun, and went at it. He made the whole process look easy. And in five minutes he was done! read more

I was surprised to enter my circle and find a CJ tow truck blocking the entrance to 10 homes. When I got out to see if the tow truck driver could move he said he would not(he was busy changing a tire). He said I would have to wait and blocking the road was not his problem since a home owner was parked on the other side and was just as much responsible. FYI he could of moved the truck backwards or forwards to unblock the road. I had enough time to call the tow truck's number expecting the office would not be down with their drivers blocking roads and they hung up on me. Craig saved my vacation! Friday night, 6:00pm. We were due to drive off on vacation the next morning, and our Jeep died. One minute it was fine, the next, it wouldn't start. Thinking it was the battery, we tried jumping it to no avail. Now it was 7:00. I found a garage nearby that would look at it in the morning. I though that was a stroke of luck -- until I called CJ Auto to get a tow to the garage. Oddly, Yelp showed him being a mile from my house in JP. It wasn't until I called that I realized he was really in Waltham (what's up with that, Yelp?). But he was so friendly and helpful, I thought, well, if he's willing to drive out here I'll take it. Now THAT was the stroke of luck! See, what I thought was going to be just a tow became a rescue. He sent his truck with a spare battery, just in case. When his driver appeared (now it was 8:00, and I was climbing the walls), he checked out the Jeep, determined it was the starter and offered to ... wait for it ... HAVE IT FIXED THAT NIGHT! Off it went and less than two hours later I got a call to pick it up. Who the hell fixes a starter at 10pm on a Friday night?! Craig does! And for $300 including tow, parts and labor it was a bargain to boot! Bottom Line: * Friendly and out-of-the-way helpful * Direct, honest, no hard-sell * Very reasonably priced * Late hours This is a number to put in your phone! I have used CJ Auto & Tow a few times. I have used them for both towing and auto repair. I cannot say enough great things about them. I have never seen such a fast response from a tow company. I called for a tow the one time and I swear they were there in under ten minutes. Their drivers and their management is also a bit more competent than what I am used to. They actually care about customer service, they are not rude or short ever (as I have noticed a lot of guys in this industry are). I used this towing company through AAA. They did not need me to wait with the car (a huge plus since it was late at night). The tow truck dropped my car off at the dealership without any issues. When I called the dealership in the morning for service, they had my keys and a brief synopsis of my car troubles. I was very impressed that the tow truck went the extra mile and filled out these forms. When your car dies, the last thing you want to worry about is the towing part. Great service! read more

I called around to get quotes and they were the best price and the friendliest on the phone as well. The driver was efficient and super nice. He let me know about a quirk in the stick shift that I wasn't previously aware of and will save my clutch a lot of wear and tear. They even take venmo for payment! Parked in a spot only for ATM use and was gone for less than 5 minutes. My car was gone - just on the tow truck- they were only 1 minute down the street and ripped me off to get my car back. And I did use the ATM, so again total rip off/scam. Had to pay their full price to get my car back even though i was back before they were gone. As a towing company, CJ's was fine. They responded quickly to our phone call on a Sunday, located us on the side of the highway, and had our car on his truck quickly. However, if your car has serious engine problems, I would recommend that you have them tow you to a reputable garage. CJ's replaced our engine with a used engine, and about 2 months later (and only 150 miles later!) the check engine light came on. I took the car to a different garage, and they said the engine had a cracked head gasket and was leaking oil. The owner of that garage said something didn't smell right: a newly installed engine (even a used one) should not have a cracked head gasket, and that I should take the car back to CJ's. The second garage said that if they had done the original work, they would have stood by their work and fixed it. CJ's did not. They said that their parts were only under warranty for 60 days (a policy that was not on anything I had received or signed), and this had "unfortunately" been just over 60 days. During this process it was also incredibly difficult to talk to or get a straight answer from anyone at the company. So in the end, CJ's installed a faulty engine and would not stand by their work. I would never give them business or recommend them to anyone. read more

Someone rudely told me they are open for towing but said "it's Sunday all garages are closed" & hung up. SAVED ME!!! Thank you guys! They towed & fixed my car - My car broke down on the highway, in the rain, late at night. They came right away and towed my car. I had a broken axle, they fixed it that day and I had my car back. They were fair and did not try to up sell me on other work. The final coast including the tow came in under their estimate, and was a great deal compared to what I'd pay at other repair shops. I will defiantly bring my car back for future service!! read more

Locked my keys in my car last night just as the huge rainstorm was about to hit. The guy on the phone could tell I was upset because none of my family members were helping me with AAA, so assured me people would be there in 25 minutes or so. The guys got there in 10 minutes and opened my car in 30 seconds! It started raining like crazy, they ushered me into my car with my groceries and ran back and forth from my car to theirs in the pouring rain to run my card. It didn't run a couple times so the poor guy was soaked. But throughout the whole thing the guys were wicked sweet and helped me so quickly. Quality, Efficiency, and Friendliness. I am a repeat customer of Craig's and just started using him this summer to fix the brakes on my truck. Craig is as honest as they come and does a great job. I gave him really short notice that my brakes were in trouble and he shopped for the best deal on pads and rotors and got the truck back to me incredibly fast. This most recent visit while I was having some more stuff checked out for my truck, Craig went as far as driving my truck while I had it in the shop to go and get an inspection sticker because mine had expired. BMW assist request a short truck - Dolly tow, driver arrived late and bailed without telling me he was leaving. Dispatched informed me driver could not get car out due to my drive. BMW assist then called Pro-Tech in Waltham MA .. Pro-tech driver did what he could to first try to start the car then was able to tow the vehicle out of my garage with same size truck and front wheels on a dolly. Maybe I just got their weakest link....but that is the strength of the chain. read more

If I could give them a 0, I would. Even without my review, I'd encourage people to look at the owner's responses to negative reviews on yelp. They say more than any review and perfectly demonstrate the complete rudeness, immaturity, petulance, and vindictiveness of this company. I was set up with them through AAA, who sent them over to help with my car. The owner called me (instead of sending someone over) and gave me suggestions of things to try that were completely basic. I followed his suggestions anyway but when none of them worked, because the car battery was dead which is what he was supposed to come out and help me with, he started screaming at me and saying I had a bad attitude. He told me it would take 5 hours to send someone out when AAA had told me 1-2, so when I complained he just screamed at me more. Over the course of 3 conversations the owner screamed at me, hung up on me multiple times, refused to take my calls when I tried to call back and reason with him and beg him to send someone out (which AAA had already promised he would do), and was just generally the most rude, inconsiderate, and least helpful contractor I have ever had the misfortune of speaking with. I would avoid them at all cost. Edit based on owner's response: The first guy (not the owner, the person they sent) was friendly and great! He did jump the car and all seemed fine until I had an issue with the gear shift not moving a few minutes later. It was not user error, the owner's suggestions weren't working because there was something wrong with my car. I called to cancel due to horrible service, not because the issue was fixed, and actually used another service provider to avoid having to further deal with this company. read more

I have AAA who outsourced it to these guys to come out to give me a jump start. They came 3 hours late, without the right equipment, and made me wait in the snow while they answered a call "for just a minute." Finally, they said "I can't give you a jump start" (because I didn't have my AAA card on me at that moment) and yelled at me for making them come out there. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. My daughter got a flat tire in Waltham. Our auto insurance includes roadside assistance, so our insurance company called CJ auto to come and assist her. To make a long story short, they came to her car, took out the spare which was flat, proceeded to take off the flat tire and put on the flat spare and then left my daughter on the side of the road in 15 degree and a flat tire. After she called me back in tears, I called our insurance company and this time they dispatched a competant and caring company who came out and fixed her tire. I plan to recommend to our insurance company that they drop CJ auto as part of their roadside assistance program, and I don't recommend that anyone do business with them. read more

If I could rate this 0 stars I absolutely would. Got the misfortune of dealing with this company through AAA. (THANKS). Not only, were they hours late.. because they had gone to the wrong address twice but when the technician arrived he acted like I was a nuisance to him. I called, because my car battery was dead. I simply asked the technician to take a look at all of the cables to make sure that they weren't rusted and connections were secure, that the problem wasn't the alternator or the starter and to SIMPLY test my battery to see what the problem is. This guy, was so UNHELPFUL. I basically, had to argue with him to even look at my car because he kept telling me there was nothing that he could do. K. Cool. I was happy they were able to help me--an unexperienced car owner who just suffered his first flat tire, but I left the interaction feeling worse than I did when I discovered my flat tire initially. Beware! Craig blocked his tow truck on a residential street in chestnut Hill. I was driving down the street and a car was stuck in the middle of the street. He was standing in the street, and when I rolled down my window to ask him if I could move around the car he raised his hands and said. "not sure". After a minute I realized if the tow driver moved , I could easily get through. I out of the car and motioned him to move back. After a minute he did not move his truck. I got out and went to his window and asked him to move. He said "say please, I want to hear those magic words". I was disgusted and went back to my car. He came to my window and said he would move it for two hundred dollars! I have heArd of these scams - but he was the real deal. I thought about it for a minute and decided I would not be bullied. I walk to his car and asked him to move his car, I was firm in my response bc I knew he was trying to intimidate me. I told him I was going to call the police and he said' " I am the owner I can do and say what I want" . He said that he has my license plate number ,and I asked if he was threatening me and he said"we'll you are going to call the cops so"....I did eventually see the owner of the car,and asked her the address.she appeared very upset and begged Craig to move his car. I was on the way to the hospital to. Is it a family member who was in critical care. I to,d Craig this and he said" not my problem" . After the owner of the tow car begged him to move his car, he moved after. 5 minutes. I am still in shock. I am figuring out how to make sure this unstable person does not try to bully or take money from unsuspected people. People do terrible things, but Craig acted this way in front of me and his customer. And ,he said to me" I care less you have a witness , I own the company" .
