Cityology is a novelty shop that offers all kinds of a little bit of everything. What they have is a bunch of fun items. It's one of those stores that you never really know what what you're gonna find when you walk in. This is a great place to grab that unique gift or that something that you never knew you personally needed. Located on 2nd St., it's very easy to get to. And, there's plenty of parking on the street and in a couple of parking lots around the area, so parking is never a problem. Inside, it's a unique shop. This place is awesome, very well curated, unique items that you won't find at other crystal/spiritual shops.. They also have a giant Tibetan Singing bowl that you stand inside of, holy smokes is it amazing! I close by saying that it is very clean both on a physical and energetic level. I love my new mosaic lamp! We strolled 2nd Street this evening and passed by this gift shop. The mosaic lamps in the window caught my attention. They come in many sizes. We chose the small one. There are some really interesting items in this store, such as crystals, men's accessories, cute beach and kitchen items, and even predator sculptures made from metal scraps, and I've been coming there for years. However, I recently accidentally hit a small glass sculpture over and immediately let the young cashiers know. I was happy to pay the half price for the item. But then, I noticed that I had a deep cut from the item and was bleeding all over my cash. The cashiers got me a bandaid and asked me to pay for the item without thinking of the possible repercussions and then bagged the broken item without offering for me to take it, even though I had paid for it. Not sure if I'll go back, despite the interesting curios. Beware not to touch anything, lest you accidentally break it, and cut yourself in the store! You won't get any preferential treatment. read more

In the past I have always enjoyed the cute trinkets and gifts in this store, but I'm afraid that not all the employees are taking Covid precautions seriously which has changed my perception of the store entirely. I came in to get something for valentines day for my best friend. As I was getting ready to check out I noticed that one of the cashiers was having a full conversation with her mask around her chin and the man she was talking to only had his around his mouth leaving his nose exposed. This was concerning to me because I have an autoimmune disease and I need to be extremely cautious when it comes to Covid. I tried not to make a big deal about it, so I went to the other line so I could keep my distance. Then my cashier pointed to the other register and said she could help me. I asked her to wear her mask if I was to be helped by her, and she pulled it up as she told me she had asthma. Although she did pull her mask up for the transaction, it doesn't change the fact that anyone who walks in the store is breathing her air from the conversation she was having without her mask. I understand that some people can't wear a mask all day, but if her asthma is really that bad there are other masks she can wear that would make breathing easier for her without putting customers at risk. Alternatively, she could have conversations like that near the door where there is more airflow or go outside where she can have her mask off without unknowingly risking the health and safety of others. read more

So I walk in the front door and the first thing I notice is this sexy looking little blond with a huge smile that greats me and points me in the direction to some last minute stocking stuffing ideas. She was supper helpful and I got everything I needed. I picked up some supper yummy stuff bombs, a starfish x-mas ornament and this awesome wind chime that might actually be a little too big for my wife's stocking. The staff was super friendly and even though they were crazy busy they totally gave me the absolute best five star service. I was in no hurry so they helped out a handful of customers while at the same time completely wrapped up my wind chime so that it didn't make any noise, then she asked and boxed up my other items and then because I spent $100.00 they asked me to spin this wheel and wouldn't you know I won a botched pair or X-mas socks that I'm actually wearing right now. I wish I knew the names of the two employees that helped me out because their holiday spirit, their customer service and amazing smiles were absolutely the best that I have witness this entire holiday season. The retail business this time of year is very difficult and these two treated me like I was special. read more

I walk by this store frequently because I enjoy Colossus the coffee shop next door. My husband and I were eating next door and my daughter popped into the shop (mind you she is 4) with another little friend she met at the coffee shop. We were inside the shop and even purchased two bracelets. My daughter loved the shop. They have children's toys as well so it seemed like a shop for all. The kids were excited and playing with the toys. I was watching the kids. Yes, sometimes kids get a little rowdy in stores and I was trying my best to calm them both down while also being mindful not to do it in a distasteful way. My daughter was playing the steel tongue drum, which was out on display. She is a child and was playing it a little louder than usual when out of the blue the employee (a lady with short blond ish hair) working the booth decided to (I kid you not) yell in the store "Alright! Alright! That's enough of that. My gosh." She said it so disrespectfully and I was just really in shock and taken back by how she handled the situation. I get that children sometimes get touch things in stores and you have to step in as a parent, which I did, but my daughter was innocently playing the drum which was on display. If you don't want children in your store then don't have toys and don't have drums on display. Simple! Children see things and they want to touch. It's part of a child's development, which this lady clearly has no education on. I politely told my daughter that we had to leave because the lady didn't want us in her store. So as we left she was telling my friend and I "to be parents". Ha! Which this lady clearly has never experienced. This lady crossed a path when she rudely told us "we needed to learn how to parent". I proceeded to tell her that I am teacher and that children touch things on my way out. Then she rudely responded back, "well, you're not a very good one." Haha! Wow! Wow! Such a rude encounter with someone. This is suppose to be shop that sells zen objects like crystal handmade jewelry and zen drums... a little ironic to me. I wish this lady much peace in her life because she clearly needs it. I will not return to this store and I strongly advise parents with small children to be cautious of this lady. She triggered me and I had to leave the store. It was a very unpleasant experience to say the least. It's sad because I wanted to support this small business. I'd like to add that I understand sometimes parents do not take action when their kids are running around in a place where there is stuff that can break. But we were right next to the kids and making sure they didn't touch anything they were not suppose to. If the lady had approached us in a calmer demeanor and actually had a conversation with us about it then I would have understood and respected her for it. Her approach to the situation was completely out of line and she was wrong in the way she handled things. read more

This place has such great energy. Just stumbled upon it as I was getting my coffee (Aroma Di Roma is also a fave!) And I'm so glad I did! The woman working there was so kind and friendly. Very easy to chat with and very knowledgeable on her spiritual stuff. They have that kind of this there as well as other artistic items for sale. Very diverse and unique products for sale, something for everyone! I was happy to support a small business. The sound bowls there are AMAZING and some ive never seen before! A few of them are only $1...so I got 2 to store in my purse as emergency masks for when I forget my washable ones. There's lots of jewelry too, soap bars, hair products, Himalayan salt lamp, candles, artsy pieces, home decor items, and some souvenirs for tourists. Awesome selection of sizes, colors & designs! Duke Cannon: these claim to be men's products, but some of the soaps have such a great scent anyone can use them. Huge bars of soap last a long time. I stumbled upon this shop while I was on 2nd Street in Long Beach trying to clear my mind. I had no plans of buying anything, but I was introduced to this amazing water dragon singing bowl. I was able to play with it by meditating with it and felt the positive energy behind it. It is magical really. It is an investment. But as soon as I checked my e-mail, I noticed that I passed this test that I took 2 weeks ago that is extremely grueling and also I got an interview for that as well as an interview next Tuesday. Solid jobs, but I have been interviewing like crazy for years now. This time, I have a feeling it's going to be different because my mental space is even different. I have combined my attitude and work towards spirituality and was attracted to this and yes, it was expensive for me. I was going to give it to my mom for Mother's Day, but I figure I can always get another one!!!! It also has cute lamps that are crystal in nature as well as yoga clothes that are beautiful and fit my lifestyle. It is kind of far from where I live, but I dig this place. The two girl associates were extremely rude and unprofessional when asking how to properly use an item. Continued to laugh at us when we didn't know how to use item. After we continued to look around, we could continuously hear under their breath making comments. Really felt like we were in high school again which sucks because the store truly had some items we were interested in purchasing. The owner just buys a lot of her stuff for cheap and then re-sells it for way more. Example: a shell shop in seal beach was selling these selenite sticks with shells attached for $3. A few days later, cityology was selling the same thing for over $10. They also buy stuff from Barnes & Nobles and resell. Rip off. Another thing is the new crystals that the owner is selling. She is selling a regular old quartz piece with metallic shine for over $30!!!!!! Quartz is the cheapest and most common crystal out there and this crazy lady is trying to upsell it to the max. read more

Just an update: I actually called to let the owners know what had happened and to express my concerns and interestingly enough one of the owners I spoke to remembered me and acknowledge that they failed to greet me and assist me. She saw me standing there waiting to be helped and she too did NOTHING! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Great new store to land on 2nd street! At first it didn't have a lot other than some cute yoga clothes and varied other clothing, but oooohhh mmyyy! It now is an explosion of beautiful jewelry and art all from local artists peppered with fun and unique knick knacks and one of a kind gifts (try their Swell bottles-those alone are a GREAT find!) that would grace anyone's home or office. The staff were eager to help me in showing their new stock and even helped me master the "singing bowls" which are great for meditation. In 2 words...GO THERE! read more

Went to this store earlier today and I did not have a good experience. The lady that works here followed me around the whole store and she was acting rude when we walked in. She was even staring at my eleven year old sister, weird. The lady that works here made me feel very uncomfortable and I would not recommend other people here, unless they are okay with being watched like a hawk.
