Fun dive bar in downtown Dallas. Great bar food and cool bartenders. It's always a great mix of people, and it's easy place to come if you're out by yourself- you'll meet someone cool, your drinks will delicious and strong and the prices are really good, especially for being in the middle of downtown. Try it

I ordered the Margarita Chicken. Food was good, but nothing to really get me to say "oh man I'm going back to The City Tavern on my trip back to Dallas". They fill up the plate but with a thin layer giving the illusion of more food than what is actually present. (Ex: the rice and beans) and the chicken portion was extremely thin as well. I was left still hungry even after ordering a side salad. Service was good. The gentleman collected my drink & food order within 6 minutes of being seated. And the entree came out exactly as I finished my Caesar salad. Ambiance is what you would expect at a sports bar on a Tuesday. Did wait quite a while after empty plate was taken away and drink was finished for me to get my check to pay. And the Caesar side salad shows $3 on the menu, however came to $4 on the check. $1 is not a big deal, however that's not the price displayed.

From out of town, service could have been better as super busy. Great location and food though.

Service wasn't good! No hospitality compared to other patrons! We are visiting from out of state but wouldn't recommend for visitors!

A staple of Uptown, Las Palmas is often referred to as the best Tex-Mex in Dallas. While I may be…read morebiased as it's my local spot, I do think Las Palmas is excellent. The location is super cute and always packed. You definitely need a reservation or have to go super early to get a spot. There is valet parking as well as street parking, which can get a bit crowded. I've had a ton of different food items the years, but their fajitas are their signature dish for a reason! It comes out sizzling, fresh, and delicious. Do not pass up on the bone marrow sauce, it transforms the dish to beyond a 10/10! The salsas are always good and then tortilla chips salty and fresh. I start with a skinny margarita w a salt rim, which was good. Our waiter, Abraham, was great! He was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also order the ceviche to start, which was yummy! The crackers were a bit of an odd pairing for me and I stuck with tortilla chips, but overall delicious!! My friend ordered the steak quesadilla and thought it was tasty too.

I wished it came with more than 3 tortillas or at least 4 since I don't put too much meat in my fajitas. I also tried the hickory grilled ribs. It was kinda salty, but the barbecue sauce was ok. The meat was very tender & falls off the bone. The fries that it comes with were alright. There was a little of wait, but I didn't mind since the food was good. Our food did take a while. Our waitress was very attentive & filled our water. There was seating inside & outside on the patio. I was glad that we were sat outside since it was a beautiful day today. Besides inside was kinda dark. Overall, the food is a little pricey, but totally worth it. A must are their fajitas.

This joint is quintessential Tex-Mex. Kitsch on the walls and a menu full of stuff that includes…read morethe same 3-4 ingredients. Cold, spicy salsa. Even colder bottled beer. The service here was great on my visit. The atmosphere, albeit a little crowded, was comfy. As I do with my first visit at any Tex-Mex joint, I order the combo plate. I was very pleased with it here. The taco was crunchy with nicely seasoned (non-greasy) ground beef and lettuce and cheese served on the side (I told them no tomatoes). The tamale had a wonderful brisket-like filling, although there was a little too much masa for me. The cheese enchilada was filled with actual cheese, which is a good (if not rare) thing these days. The chili con carne topping was wonderful, as was the rice -- which is among the most perfectly cooked that I have ever experienced in a Tex-Mex joint. The refried beans were run-of-the mill. I must say that the enchilada tortillas are firmer than most. Not necessarily bad, but they definitely don't par-fry these things before rolling. I tend to judge Tex-Mex joints by their salsa. If it's served warm, I take points off the board. This stuff is served ice-cold and has a wonderful bite. Bottom line: If I lived here, I'd be a regular. Excellent Tex-Mex.
