The interior is clean, warm, and inviting! They have water, tea, cookies, and other treats to enjoy while you wait for your appointment or shop around for new frames. The staff have always been tremendously friendly and helpful. They have quite a large frame selection from well-known and local designers. You're sure to find a diamond in the rough at this spot! Dr. Baars is a wonderful doctor. He is friendly, explains everything, and makes sure you get what you need. It's also never too difficult to get an appointment, which is appreciated. Highly recommend this spot, whether you need an eye exam or some fun new frames!!

"Ace is the place with the helpful (menswear) folks."…read more Jokes about the neighborhood hardware chain aside, Ace General Store is a wonderful escape that's one part curated mens store and one part home furnishings cottage. Tucked away from the busy Water Street shopping area in downtown Excelsior, Ace carries a fantastic assortment of mens tees, sweatshirts, hats, jewelry, bags and grooming gear. I wish they had a location in Minneapolis proper (the vibe is perfect for the North Loop), but it's worth the drive. This will quickly become my go-to spot for mens gifts because they literally have everything you need to curate a unique gift set: Cool cards? Check. Unique candles? Yep. Affordably priced jewelry and grooming kits? Check and check. On a recent trip in I picked up a great gold bracelet, a locally-made wood storage crate for my dog's toys and a Huckberry tabletop fire pit, all for under $200 total. The bracelet is a great addition to my formal wear, while the fire pit is a nice fit for my small patio (clean burning using Isopropyl alcohol). The storage crate is short and durable, perfect for my dog to easily identify the toys he wants to play with. Service at Ace is excellent - All staff are super knowledgable of the products and will often tell you the artist or brand they're sourced from. I can't recommend them enough. Next time you're in need of a gift for the guy in your life, skip Target and head for Ace General Store!

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel confident I'm getting the best care for my eyes! I see Dr. VanMeter for my regular eye exams. She takes the time to listen to me and makes sure I'm happy with my prescription. She always manages to dig up some samples for me, despite my not-too-common prescription. The exam rooms are spotless. It's a nice, quiet setting that's perfect for folks who experience appointment anxiety. This past year was my first time ordering glasses from the store, and I'd definitely order again. The staff were extremely helpful with my indecisiveness about the frames. They had great suggestions, and I ended up with a pair I love. I initially had some issues with the fit, and they encouraged me to return as many times as necessary to ensure I was comfortable with them. Their selection of frames are on the expensive side, but they seem to be worth the price. Things to note: There's a parking garage in the same building. You can access it through the alley to the left of the clinic. They have convenient online scheduling. They also offer an online contact ordering system, but it's a little confusing to use. I typically ask staff to order my contacts for me after my appointments.

They also firmly believe in customer loyalty and want to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. I have purchased numerous pairs of glasses including sunglasses for myself and my wife and I keep coming back year after year to see what's new.
