Prior to 2023, this dental facility was absolutely top notch. Or, perhaps it was prior to Kim H. leaving that I am thinking. either way this is NOT the same office staff (other than Dr. Meyer) that cared for it's patients and had a great attention to detail. Now, you can't get an appointment scheduled (until speaking to Dr. Meyer; the office staff would call me 15- 1hr before the opening to see if I wanted that slot, it takes me 45 mins. to drive there because I used to love this office and it used to be worth the drive/time) After my complaint to Dr. Meyer, she scheduled me at her earliest appt. 3.5 mos. out... My wife just drove to her office for her appointment, she was 8 mins. late (again driving all the way across metro Denver) 8 mins late. The office staff said she would have to check with the hygenist. The hygenist comes out and says, " I am SO SORRY. we gave your appointment away awhile ago since you never confirmed the appointment". So, what is it? Did you give the appointment away and the office manager was clueless to this and didn't say anything on the phone or you didn't want to do the job. It truly pains me to leave this review as I love Dr. Meyer, her pups, and family. I understand that after talking to Dr. Meyer that there are staffing issues that need to be worked out. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Mayer at City Smiles for about three years. Dr. Mayer is very easy to talk to and work with. I've had dentists in the past want to fill every almost/could be/might one day be a cavity. Dr. Mayer isn't like this. She certainly does a thorough job but she does not look to make money off of you. She is also very intelligent and her staff is welcoming, especially Kim at the front desk. read more

Moving from a different state, it is always a pain to find a new dentist. After a few tries, I finally found one that I really like. Dr. Chelsea and her staff are always very nice and professional. I have been going here for about a year and a half now and everyone is very personable. It is surprising when they have so many patients, that they still remember the little details of your life when you briefly mentioned it 6 months ago at your previous checkup. My hygienist, Allison, is very gentle and meticulous, which is a nice change in pace when you have been to a few dentist offices where the hygienist does a clumsy job and sometimes hurts you. The office itself is very clean and modern. Everything seems to be updated with the latest technology, which really makes the office visit more comfortable and the appointment quick. Overall, I would strongly recommend if you are looking for a new dentist. read more

I was charged $106.80 for a "no-show" appointment. I literally called them as I was driving to see my mom who went into hospice care. She passed a few days later. I cannot recommend a dentist who shows no care or sympathy. I know I will be looking for a new dentist. read more

They billed for way more than the insurance paid, over quoted me on how much insurance would pay, then stuck me with the bill. In addition, Dr Mayer asked if I want to keep all my teeth during our first cleaning session. YES I WANNA KEEP ALL MY TEETH!! what kind of question is that?! If you go there, be prepared to pay a lot of $$$ out of pocket even if you have dental insurance. read more

Just moved to Denver and went to City Smiles based on Yelp reviews. This is the best dentist I have ever visited. First off, great customer service. Kim, the receptionist, not only looked up insurance info for me, but she sent me everything so that I know what is covered and what's not (most places have only given me a yes or no for if I'm covered there, not what percent for each treatment). The dentist I saw and the assistant were great. They checked things that I feel like no other dentist has checked, like the muscles in my neck and temples to see how much I've actually been grinding. I recommend this office to anyone who wants a thorough check from very knowledgable dentists with excellent customer service. read more

Where do I start? Staff - - Dr. Mayer is the best dentist I have ever visited - bar none the most skilled. She has been very knowledgeable about every aspect of my treatment. It is very apparent that she is up-to-date with the newest practices and is very explanatory about every part of her operation. - Kim is outstanding. I've been able to get in on quite short notice and she's always a pleasure to deal with. I appreciate the reminder emails and phone calls before each appointment. Facility - - Incredibly clean, chic office conveniently located in Lowry. - Modern equipment - I have been more impressed every visit with the resources and tools used for care. The digital X-Rays are very helpful, and it's awesome to be able to see exactly what's going on with my teeth. My wife and I recently moved to Denver and a neighbor recommended City Smiles. Wow were we impressed! This office is the most professional, friendly and competent medical/dental services business we have ever seen. Highlights: Friendly and competent receptionist (Kim), Super efficient, friendly and passionate hygienists (Shelby and Anna), conscientious, competent, friendly and dedicated dentist (Chelsea Mayer). Some specifics: The office is modern, light and filled with the right tech to do the job. From the most effective water/ultrasound cleaning tools (no idea what they are called) to the camera, X-ray positioning devices and cameras, to the obvious comfort factors like chairs etc. , this office has what you need. Professionalism - The staff knows what questions to ask and how to treat the customers/patients. For example "So how many times a week do you floss?" My answer: "not enough" Anna: "Let's see if we can work together to get that to a level that is good for you and good for your teeth". This is the nicest way I have been told to - step it up - for my own good. Humor and friendliness - Plenty of honest questions about me as a new patient and the staff remembered that my wife had told them we were taking a vacation after her last visit. Favorite quote: "I really want to get to know you and then we can talk teeth, ok?" Cleanliness - Outstanding. Price: Fair and reasonable, actually, less than I expected. Simply Remarkable, is what I would say If I were to describe my experience at City Smiles and the care provided by Dr. Mayer. I was apprehensive about going to a new dentist, being that I had just moved to the state and my teeth are very important to me. However the minute I walked into the office every ounce of anxiety or fear left me. The art was beautiful and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Kim- The receptionist is fantastic. I called on a Tuesday afternoon to just see if it's a possibility to get an appointment within the next two weeks as I will be going to Europe soon and needed my teeth cleaned, and she magically had an appointment the next morning at 9am! Kim was extremely clear of what was required as far as paperwork and what my goal was for the appointment. Then as I walked into the office she greeted me with a warm smile as if I had been going to City Smiles for years. Dr. Mayer is a rare and knowledgeable dentist. She does not scorn you about what you are doing wrong with your teeth the entire appointment, as some dentists do. In fact it is quite the opposite: Dr. Mayer makes you feel very comfortable by first asking your brushing/flossing routine and she suggests ways to improve. She then encourages questions through the appointment and thoroughly answers them all. -I will definitely return to City Smiles because they provide quality and relaxed care. First I looked at 5280's list of best dentists, then I cross-checked that with dentists who were in my insurance plan, then I looked at yelp and was stunned by the consistent 5-star reviews. Kim responded to my email within 1 hour and, as I'd requested initially, communicated with me entirely by email. She found me an appointment for my initial exam that was within two weeks of my first message, and gave me all the paperwork in advance so I could walk in and get started. Izela took my x-rays and all that good stuff, and she got her work done quickly and smoothly without being brusque. She's very friendly. My exam was pretty intense, because I've been to a dentist twice in the last 20 years -- funny how that happens when you're really poor. Some areas of my mouth are not in good shape at all. Dr. Mayer was amazing, though. She was efficient but gentle, and we worked out ahead of time that if I felt pain, I could raise my hand to let her know. And when I did, she stopped immediately -- hands and tools out of my mouth, waiting for me to signal that I was okay to continue. I felt very respected and cared for, which I think is pretty important when someone has a metal tool in your mouth! She also did something else that is worth a 6th star: she encouraged me, repeatedly, to ask her any and every question I had. And I had plenty. Even if I realized that I was interrupting her, she never showed me the slightest bit of impatience. She would just explain whatever I asked. Also in the '6th star' category: I didn't feel embarrassed or shamed at all for not having prior dental care. In fact, she told me all the things I'd done well. She explained possible treatments for some of the more major issues with my bite, and was very clear about what was serious and what we could hold off on. Like I said: she had time for every question. I didn't feel rushed at all. I could go on, but this is already a very long review. I am so, so glad that I didn't have to go through several dentists before finding one that I like so much. Oh, but one more thing: the art in her office is so cool. read more

Kim was very patient with me as I set up a follow-up appointment. I had to get some work done When I arrived, Kim greeted me with a very welcoming attitude. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes before the Dr. herself came and got me. After a couple of hours I was done. During this time, during the visit, everything was done with a caring approach. After the visit, the Dr. and her assistant both went over after care. She wrote me pain medicine in case I needed it. The Dr. herself called me to see how everything went last night and today. This is hands down the best dental office I've ever been to. I know no one "likes" going to the dentist, but the dentist I went to growing up was a novocaine-free, pull the wrong (healthy) molar out kind of place, so I do have some major anxiety about dentists. I have been going to City Smiles for a few years now, and it's the first time I've ever felt comfortable in a dental office. I do take very good care of my teeth (because I do anything to avoid dentists in general), and even though I've been there 4 times total, they welcome me like they saw me last week. This is business done right. Yes, providing awesome dental care, but the customer service makes you (almost) wish you had to go back again soon! Kim is awesome in reception, the last time Jessica cleaned my teeth, they looked like I had just had laser whitening done and Dr. Chelsea Mayer is thorough, quick to let you know what's going on and gentle. I was looking for a well recommended dentist and found City Smiles on yelp. Based on the reviews I decided to give them a try. They absolutely do not disappoint! This is definitely a 'one of a kind' dental experience. Every body in the office is beyond courteous and friendly (and genuinely so). From the moment I called to schedule my appointment with Kim I just knew I was going to enjoy my experience. Dr Mayer is amazing (knowledgeable, friendly). She chatted with me, answered all my questions and gave me a very thorough exam. Izela (her dental assistant) was also equally amazing, she walked me through every step of the process from the moment I got inside the office until I left. As a new patient this was a fantastic experience, I left feeling like I just went to a spa. There is clearly great effort put into making the patient as comfortable and at home as possible. The office is beautiful, modern, chic and has pretty advanced equipment. This sets the bar very high for dental practices! This office is so cool. The office itself is super modern and advanced. They have really cool art scattered around the office. Dr. Chelsea is so friendly and thorough. She spent more time with me than any other dentist has done in the past. If I could give zero stars I would. Not only is she Money hungry [probably so she can pay off all of her decorations at her office], but shes not a good dentist. When I moved out here two and a half years ago I didn't know where else to go and this was the closest to me. I am very consistent with going to the dentist every 6 months. I have an electric tooth brush, floss and mouth wash everyday. Back home I would MAYBE get one cavity a year, however the first time I went to her in the first July 2014 I was here she said I had FOUR cavities. So I had her fix them, only to find out that she also over charges what insurance pays so I had to pay $66 out of pocket for each one. Her receptionist said, "I won't lie, we aren't the cheapest." I even had them write a letter to my insurance company and they rejected it. Then the next 6 month the following January 2015 checkup she said I had TWO more! I didn't want her to touch me since I still had sensitivity from one of the four that she fixed previously. However, like an idiot I had her fix my bottom molar and had such bad sensitivity so I knew that my insurance would restart that following July and I could get a new dentist. Just my luck, I kept having sensitivity but tried to stick it out. Because of the way the holiday fell, I ended up not being able to get a new dentist on July 1st and had to wait. I woke up July 3rd for a camping trip with the most TERRIBLE pain I have ever been in. I would not wish that upon anyone. That Sunday [3 days later] I got back to town and called her on her cell. She said, sorry I can't see you until Tuesday and called in a prescription for an antibiotic. So now it has been FIVE days of excrutiating pain, and Im not even exaggerating that. It was so bad that I was having panic attacks. As soon as she saw me she said I need a root canal. They kept calling around but noone could get me in. I even offered up docs that my friends told me about, but they wouldn't call for me because it wasn't a friend of hers. WHAT?! Talk about "awesome" customer service they provider. Finally they got me in at 6 am the next day and he said I needed an emergency root canal, and then I had to get a crown on. When all said and done it costed me $1200 out of pocket for the root canal and crown WITH insurance. BEST PART: The 2nd of the two cavities that she said I had in January 2015.. is NOT even a cavity!!! I have seen my new dentist every 6 months since he did my crown in August of 2015 [yes it was a month long process for something she messed up], and he still doesn't see it as a cavity!! Its been a year and a half and I have had no issues with the other one she wanted to "fix". So now its been a full year cavity free.. DO NOT GO TO HER unless you love to just throw money out the door. I am SOOO happy I found my new guy who is just awesome and actually cares about his patients! He even gave me his personal cell when I had the temporary crown on and told me to call him Day or Night if it popped off.. This lady wouldn't even see me on an emergency! Ugh clearly I am still bitter about the $1200 I had to spend that I know could have been avoided. I just want to save others the pain I had to go through. read more

Absolutely terrible. I do not recommend this dentist. To make a long story short, I was a new patient at this office and after my first visit I received a $5 bill. They said it was "leftover" from what my insurance covered. Now, keep in mind I just forked out over $400 (of my own money NOT covered by insurance) to this office for custom teeth whitening trays and gel, plus I would have forked out more money in the future once I needed gel refills - yet they have the nerve to send me a $5 bill? Any normal dentist office would have simply wrote the $5 off as it pretty much cost that to put a bill together and send it in the mail. This office called me several times about this bill and sent me another 3 statements - all over $5. Once I finally spoke to Kim on the phone, I told her very candidly how displeased I was that they would go to such great lengths to track $5 down. Well after that call, then Chelsea (the dentist and owner) calls me right back with a major attitude and starts "advising" me of her collection policy and tells me that they collect whether it's $5 or $500. She also told me that I should have informed them as to what was going on in my life. After a 10 minute phone call of her ranting and raving and barely letting me get a word in - she consistently kept interrupting and talking over me - I finally had to hang up the phone. This woman lost her patience and actually raised her voice at me on the phone. Once again, this was all over $5. Anyone who is so vehemently passionate about collecting $5 is not somebody I want to do business with. Money hungry is not a good look! read more
