Gave this nail salon a shot based on the reviews. I've been to a couple other salons in the area including Hawaiian Nails and Lux Salon and Spa. I really liked the simplicity here and the quality of craftsmanship! This nail salon didn't offer me wine like some others, but I'll take great quality and listening to my requests over wine! I wanted to try gel again after some really bad experiences in which the nail technician used a drill on my already extremely thin nails. I live in southlake and will come here from now on.. The salon a couple blocks from my house is far more expensive and not as good IMO. My gel nails were see thru and hastily done. Friendly service! I have been going to City Nails off and on for over a year. I really like the staff. They are very reliable and friendly. It appears that a lot of them are family or a lot like family. They have all been there for quite sometime now. They do a wonderful job and shellac and do some of the best massages. Went in without an appointment on a Saturday morning just before 11am and it was a full house. Good sign! Despite their being busy, Nancy was ready to start my spa pedicure by the time I narrowed my color choices down to three. I got a basic spa pedicure which included a hot rock massage and (supposedly) callous removal then upgraded to French gel. I say supposedly to the callous removal because a day after the service I still have my usual callouses and rough skin along the side of one foot. The quality of the French gel job is flawless, though. Once my pedi was done, I waited just about another five minutes to get my nails done by Ken. I won't call it a manicure because there was no soaking, no attention to my cuticles other than a dousing of oil, and no hand massage. Perhaps I should chalk it up to a miscommunication? I asked for a full acrylic set and thought that implied I wanted a manicure in the process. Anyway... In terms of my acrylic set, Ken was outstanding. He matched my tips quickly and effortlessly, took time to make sure I loved the length and shape of my new claws, and his work with the drill felt like a massage compared to the borderline abuse-level pressure I've felt from other nail techs in the past. For a first visit, these missteps weren't enough to deter me from returning. I'll surely make an appointment ahead of time to work with Ken and will request Kim for my next pedi based on other reviews and watching her work at a station adjacent. read more

My family and I went to this salon on the 23rd of December. My husband, myself and our two daughters. We all got pedicures. While the experience was initially enjoyable, two problems occurred. Its not that there was a problem----it was how they handled it that was so terrible. I can understand that everyone can have a bad day. It happens. Kim was the person that did my pedicure. The next morning, I noticed how rough my heels were and called to ask if they could be touched up. I spoke with Ken on the phone and HE was as nice as could be and asked if I could come in right away as it was Christmas EVE and they wanted to close early. When I arrived, Kim basically shamed and embarrassed me in front of every client there, telling me that the problem was mine, and that she always does a good job for every client. She stated she was going to go ahead and redo my feet but that she was not in the wrong and she did nothing wrong. She clearly communicated to me that she was put out to have to expend time for services for me again. Little did she know, I intended to tip her $20.00 for her time. After sitting there for a few minutes with my feet in the water---while the entire family of employees starting talking in their native language and continuing to point at me, I simply dried my feet off and put on my flip flops. As I was doing this, Ken came up to me to discuss the situation and tried to help as he recognized me from being a regular customer. At this point it was too late---the rude treatment from Kim had left her mark on my Christmas Eve. It's not as if I didn't have additional baking to do or wished to relax with my family. I had to take of my time to go back to the salon that should have done the job right in the first place. The other problem is their nail polish they use is OLD, OLD, OLD. Our daughter stayed in her flip flops for five hours that day and when putting on her heels for dinner, the polish rubbed off and smudged horribly. Only OLD polish does this. Stop being so cheap, and keep OLD POLISH OFF OF YOUR SHELVES. I hope you learn your lesson and being in a service industry---and simply spending another 20 minutes with me would have earned you my continued business and my referrals for all of my friends. Since your rude treatment to me on what would have been a special trip to your salon, you have now lost our families business and I will be sure to tell all my friends about your horrid behavior. read more

John is my #1 guy for my nails. I can request it to him in any kind of decor on my nails. he is the best! all the staff are so nice & friendly. The location is a little hidden so you really have to look for it. The parking can get a little difficult during lunch time due to the restaurant around it. The salon is actually clean even it looks a little old but they have the best services there. I have tried Vivian and Mike to get my pedicure. I've never had a regular nail spot, but since my first visit I was hooked! I've gotten 2 manicures here and 1 pedicure. I am a bartender and I've never had any luck with the powder dip gels staying on my nails through being dipped in lime juice and alcohol all day long. Tran did acrylic tips on my short nails and covered them in the powder dip and they last SO long behind the bar! The pedicure was amazing and helped soothe my sore feet. This review will cover my experience from the second I walked in to the moment I left. I've been reading review after review on various nail salons in the Valley Ranch area and the thing that stuck with me most were the prices. I called ahead to see how much a full acrylic set would cost. The woman I spoke to over the phone spoke very good English and gave me the following prices: - $25 for an acrylic set and polish - $30 for french tips white/pink powder - $35 for solar nails white AND pink powder I made an appointment for an hour later. Got there just in time, signed in, and took a seat near the door. The decor was nice and I appreciated that some of the tables weren't connected to others (elbow to elbow with someone next to you getting their nails done). After about 5 mins I was instructed to sit at the last table and that someone would be right with me. A lady sat down a few minutes later, greeted me, and asked what I wanted. I showed her a picture from the Internet and she made a few suggestions in powder. I agreed and we proceeded. She didn't speak much at first, and I noticed how nice and tranquil the atmosphere was. Soft instrumental music played in the background and all the other guests seemed relaxed. Finally I asked her name and she opened up from there. Miss Tiffany had me laughing and giggling for the remainder of my visit. I appreciate the fact that she waited until I was comfortable to engage in conversation; there's nothing worse than nail techs that force you to chat after a long day. She did one of my nails with both the pink and white powder and said that if I didn't like it she would start over for me. I let her do her thing and the results were lovely. Came into the nail salon today for a pedicure. The nail salon wasn't overcrowded like some other salons in the area at lunch, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff was nice and the pedicure was great, especially for the cost. The nail tech, whose name I forgot, paid close attention to detail. When my one toe's polish smudged on my flip flop, she quickly grabbed the polish and top coat to fix it. The smudge was minor and in most other shops, would have been ignored. It's not a bad nail salon but nothing to rave about. I've never had this happen while getting a pedicure but my massage chair actually hurt, a lot. After trying multiple setting and reclining the chair, I turned it off about 5 minutes after sitting down. Okay, so maybe I had bad luck and got stuck with a broken chair. Come time for my gel manicure, the lady doing my nails pointed out an error she made and told me to come in tomorrow and she would correct it for free. No thank you. Really like this neighborhood salon! The technicians are uber friendly and give great mani/pedis (at a reasonable cost- $52 for a basic spa pedi and gel mani). Love their loyalty/stamp card, which so many places don't have (for each visit you get a stamp on your card. After the 5th stamp, you get $5 off your next service!). The salon itself isn't the most posh, but it's nice and clean with good massage chairs that they keep well sanitized. They used fresh tools with each customer, which is a must for me. I tried it after reading rave reviews but have had a couple of bad experiences, including today when I was initially told I would be charged for having my polish removed when it was CRACKED because gel polish was put on top of it instead of regular polish. In the end, and, after them speaking to each other in a different language, I was not charged. Last week, my appointment with Mike was not kept although I called the day before to make it. I went last week and wasn't sure what I was going to get done and then one of the ladies suggested gel manicures! I tried gel manicures twice and both were a total fail they only lasted a couple of days and then started to chip just like a regular manicure so I wasn't sure about it but she said they usually last about 10 days to 2 weeks and sure enough they lasted 10 days and without chipping and they looked beautiful now I found the right place to go to read more
