City Fender & Body Service was recommended to me by Geico who was taking care of my car repairs. While I was initially hoping to go to Timmerman's in Kailua, I had recently found out that the original owner had officially retired, so without much familiarity with other auto body shops and the fact that City Fender was so close to work (and recommended by one of my work moms), I decided to go for a visit. I had stopped by on a weekday and was immediately assisted by Jason, the Manager, who must have noticed my awkward and anxious self trying to figure out what to do. I explained to Jason that I was there to get an assessment to forward to Geico but also wanted to know if the repairs were even worth it or if I should just get a payout since my car was on the older side. Jason then informed me that the damages were artificial and recommended the payout. He then asked me to wait for a second and returned back with a rag and a gatorade bottle of clear liquid (later identified as paint thinner). As Jason started wiping away at the scratches, I was shocked. Jason had even taken a tool to lift the dented part of the door so that it was easier to open/close. I was so amazed that I had even offered to pay Jason for doing what he did to make my car better but he politely declined noting that it was a minor fix, if even that, and then printed me the check for the settlement money. Unfortunately for me, it was now my husband's turn to feel anxious because he was worried that we would not pass safety inspection, so I went back to City Fender after having already driven off, and was again greeted by Jason. After I explained the situation, I returned the check to Jason, and then he started the repair process. Jason had even asked, "You sure you don't want to take the check (because you'll pass inspection)?" And I remember looking at him and saying I wish I could but my husband's Chinese won over my Chinese side, so I am just over it. We shared a laugh and then Jason explained the probable repairs (at least that could be identified on the surface) and that if there was anything additional that they would work with Geico. Jason also asked if I was going to get a rental and when I explained that I didn't feel like paying for additional insurance, Jason informed me that my insurance should take care of it, so that I should call and double check. And sure enough, what do you know, my insurance did cover rental cars, so I definitely opted for that during the repair time. I dropped off my car about a week or so later and Jason was again there to assist as was Kylie, and they both arranged for Enterprise to pick me up directly from City Fender and gave me an estimate of the repair time. From there, the only further update that I got was that they found additional damage, so the repair time would be a couple more days than was anticipated, but even that came and went and I was back at City Fender a few weeks later. I was greeted again by Jason and Kylie who went over my forms with me and Jason also showed me the repairs and wow, I was impressed when Jason just had the paint thinner and rag, but to see a full detailed repair...the car was almost as good as new! The mechanic who also worked on my car also did some additional repairs, which I truly appreciated even though the mechanic didn't need to but still took time out of his own work day to do so. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting City Fender for any auto body repairs. From the very moment I met Jason, he has been nothing but kind, patient, and informative. I actually learned quite a lot about cars and even auto insurance in the short time that I met Jason than I have in all of my 30+ years of life. Kylie as well as the other employees I have encountered were also just as kind and understanding with my questions and concerns. And while being involved in a car accident wasn't something I had wished or planned on, I am grateful for the people and the companies I worked with along the way because of it. read more

One of several on Geico's list - I took my car there a few months ago. Took them weeks, had to rent a car, and to top it off, they did a very poor job. Also got silver paint in my interior... finger prints on the interior driver side door and steering wheel and on the mat. The manager was very abrupt, unfriendly and would not clean it. I will never take a car there again.I will also not recommend a service like that to anyone. I was super pissed and stressed when someone backed into my parked car and my passenger side door and window was messed up. My insurance gave me a couple of choices of where to take my car for repairs and I'm so glad I went with City Fender. Jason helped me and took care of everything. They were able to get the part quickly, and did the work within the week. Jason, the boss knew what I needed from calling the car rental shuttle, and guiding me on the paperwork. It did not charge three percent for using the credit card. I don't like merchants doing this. Most of all, the work was well done, charges were reasonable, and the car was clean when I collected it. Don"t be put off by the curb appeal of the shop. I stopped by a few auto shops in the area to see if I could get help. Jason was the only person who paused what he was doing, listened to my problem and helped me even though he had another customer at that time. He made the fix in 10 minutes. Scheduled an appointment to bring my car in for an estimate and they asked for an authorization from my insurance company. I called my insurance agent and had that sent over. Day of my appointment, met with the manager, Jason, who took a look at my car. He didn't seem to want the business, had various excuses and gave a timeline of 6 months. He pointed out a BMW in their garage and said he had to work on that first. He mentioned that BMW at least 3x. I guess they can only handle one car at a time. It also seemed like the front end damage to my car was too much for them to handle. He pretty much told me to go somewhere else and mentioned trying somewhere in Kalihi or further out. That's all good, but if you're so busy and/or incapable of handling the repair, don't schedule the appointment in the first place and waste my time. Just be up front up about it from the get go. Another shop I contacted that's a few blocks down the road told me they were booked out 6-8 weeks. That's being up front. read more

Dear City Fender, thank you for taking the extra step to secure a factory bumper instead of an after market one. My car is ever grateful to have a part that looks and fits seamlessly to his masculine frame. While I was hesitant about the extra star because I did have to keep calling to find out the status of my repair, overall I believe your customer service and the quality of your work are excellent. In fact, it's why I thought of you after my bumper was rear ended. It was evident that the extra time in your shop was well worth it. When I saw my babe's new bad ass bumper, the color matching perfectly, and the shiny metallic body that had been washed and tires scrubbed, I fell in love with him all over again. And, after I saw the vacuumed interior, oh, wow, my heart was thumping wildly. When the dash light went on after driving a few feet up the street, and I called in a panic, Jason immediately told me to come back. He was calm, cool, collected and patient while I stood there sweating in the morning humidity, furiously texting my colleague that I would be late (again due to car issues!). After running a diagnostic with some cool mechanical gadget and gassing the engine, the light was gone! Hmmm.... my car does like to trick me out occasionally. Geico said this was a place to have my car inspected for damage in an accident. The manager (or owner?) a bald-headed guy with black glasses went postal when I pulled up not knowing where to park - he began shouting at me to leave??? The Geico estimator explained to him I was there for my appointment to get an estimate. I told the angry guy I had called City Fender to have them do the repairs. The manager told me to "get out of here!" and he did not want my business... a $3,700 repair???. Wow? What kind of mental issues does this guy have? Why is he so rude to customers? I thought he was going to go postal. I left there and reported him to Geico that I was traumatized by his aggressive threatening manner. I have instead given my business to one of their competitors... happy I did as they were very professional and treated me with respect. City Fender is an awesome place to go for your car woes. I have a 2006 Honda Accord that was hit right outside my home and left me with a nice dent and scratch on my driver side door. I'm still pretty upset with the whole thing but finally calling City Fender to make an appointment I worked with Brian who was extremely nice and honestly help ease my mind that they will take care of my car. Brian is really knowledgeable and is the Honda/Acura specialist! Bottom line, going through my insurance was quick and easy, called City Fender one week, they ordered the part and when I finally took my car in it was a 2 day job! In and out, excellent quality work, you wouldn't even know that there was any damage the paint matches seamlessly to the rest of the car (no lie, boyfriends family 'knows' cars and said they did a great job with the paint). I love them... My car was hit in January and required repairs. Which was the second time in 2018 that it needed to be fixed!!!! But luckily it was not my fault so the other guys insurance covered it in full. Anyways, the insurance company recommended City Fender. And I don't know any body shops so I went with it. First, THEY called ME! Within 30 minutes of State Farm calling me about which shop to use. I was expecting to have to call THEM. Nope!! So I scheduled a time to get my car appraised. Unfortunately they were booked up for a while so they couldn't take in my car immediately. So we scheduled ahead of time. (This is where my ADHD brain kicks in) I must've misheard the date and did not check the appointment card they gave me... so I expected to take my car in a MONTH after it was supposed to! I got a call that was like "are you still bringing it...?" And luckily they let me bring it in ASAP the next business day. Thank the lord! A week goes by and I hear nothing. This makes me nervous, so I call them and I am prompted with a picture of my car just finishing up the painting process. They honestly DID NOT have to text me this picture, but they did!!! Next day, my cars done. Now I work in Kapolei, so I rushed as fast as I could out of work to come to the shop by 3:30. Mind you, I had to return the rental car at Pagoda too. That's a whole other issue. No parking space, not enough staff, whatever. So I am at Pagoda finishing up my return and waiting for a ride to the shop. I call them and tell them my situation and they understood and waited for me!! When I got there I wasn't met with grumpy and pissed off workers. They were all still so lovely and gracious even if I made them stay late and overall was probably a really horrible customer. Thanks City Fender! PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! My car was parked in front of my house on the street and was side swiped by a teenager driving too fast. My driver side mirror was knocked off, my door handle was scraped and I has a few scrapes on the side of the car. This shop was suggested by the insurance company and I wanted to get it fixed quickly so I decided to go for it. The person I worked with, Tomo, was SO RUDE. He basically accused my of trying to commit insurance fraud and told me, "The scrapes look fine the way they are". I should have turned away then! But i didn't and let them do the repairs on my car. They were done in 2 hours, even though another body shop had said the scrapes needed to be painted and it would take a few days. I asked if my car was painted and was told, "no, but they look better". I told them I couldn't get my car until the next morning (because I have a job) and again Tomo was very rude in his response. When I went to pick up my car THE SCRATCHES WERE STILL THERE! The worst part was I open my door to see that the inside piece on the mirror was hanging off. I pointed it out to Tomo, he walks over and shoves it back in place. He again tells me it looks fine. I called the insurance company to complain and took my car to another body shop. Come to find out CITY FENDER BROKE THE NEW MIRROR. Did they replace it...NOPE. Instead they tried to SUPER GLUE it back together. Someone put a big dent in the rear bumper of my corrolla. City fender was one of the places state farm worked with so I went with them. I went in and dropped off my car. The whole possess was easy and they explained what needed to be done. I also needed a rental car so I got that too. But that's besides the point. Turns out I didn't even need. A rental car cause it only took 2 days I thought it was gonna take like a week! It looked brand new! Paint job was on point. It's not like that cheap ass macco stuff. I have been to a number of body shops and so far City Fender and the Assistant Manager (Brian) were the best. Although the parking is "challenging" sometimes, the service more than makes up for any small inconvenience. They were fast with an email estimate, worked out a loaner for me, and emailed me my receipt when I forgot it at the store. Great! My car looked good as new! I will definitely go back. Really nice and i was able to drop my car off anytime during their business hours without specific appointment. Fixed my 2 busted-out windows and did a great job vacuuming most of the glass out of my car. There were some in the back but i wont be surprised if i find a shard here or there in years to come. Unfortunately i had to go back a few hours i picked it up because the window wouldn't fully close. Called and told me to bring it back and fixed it right then and there! I never think of a body shop striving for excellence in customer service because generally you are forced to use the business by your insurance company or circumstance and have to put up with grumpy, disorganized office people and sloppy shop staff who deliver only so-so results. But City Fender has achieved something commendable. They made the entire experience easy and actually enjoyable. The office staff was organized and efficient while the shop staff was friendly and competent. Although my observation has been that the color match for repairs on older vehicles is rarely done well, I can't even tell that a repair was made and repainted! My vehicle was repaired very well and completely detailed before I arrived to pick it up. Great job City Fender!! read more
