This is a long story but important review. My wife and son were patients here and I needed some…read moredental work done so I figured I'd go here as well. I went in and they assessed my situation and told me I needed a root canal which they would do. With my insurance it would be $1600. I went to the appointment to have the root canal and experienced my worst dental related day I've ever had. He attempted to numb the area locally multiple times and when unsuccessful he tried doing a nerve block which he couldn't do successfully and there was still pain when attempting to drill. When I asked him why he couldn't do it he said "you tell me" which wiped away any confidence I had left in his abilities. He suggested me to a gentle dental kind of place and I left. I then got referred by a friend to an endodontist who was able to get me in about 2 days later. He successfully completed the root canal in about 30 minutes with minimal discomfort. It was also half the price at $800. Lesson learned to always see an endodontist for a root canal. The story gets better. After the root canal I went to a new dentist I was referred to so I could get the crown put on and finish this nightmare. The dentist there was very concerned about the tooth and the path I had taken because she assured me and explained to me with visual aid that a successful crown wasn't possible and the tooth wasn't salvageable from the beginning and shouldn't have been saved but been extracted. So now I'm out $800 and a terrible experience because of dr Gary Joh. Beware of this place.

Had a lot of dental work done here including fillings and then a few months goes by and i have a…read morevery bad jaw pain that lasted about 2 months in total and after numerous visits they didnt do anything to help and i even asked if it was infected and they didnt give me a clear answer and finally i went back and told them i needed xrays because i thought it was infected so finally they gave me a xray and sure enough it was infected so then i finally got antibiotics and i was on them for a week and after the week i got the first treatment of my root canal done i had to sit through about 2-3 hours of drilling and filing in my tooth and mind you i could still feel the pain even after i got numbed multiple times. Anyways after that appointment they gave me a temporary filling and said to come back in a week to finish it and fast forward the end of the week my jaw was swollen like a golf ball was in my jaw so i went to the er and they gave me even stronger antibiotics for 10 days which was augmentin and then after like 7 days the swelling went down and i went in for the rest of the root canal and i had to sit through another 3-4 hours still feeling when she filed in my teeth and it took them about 30 xrays to finally be able to see the tooth anatomy right with the gutta percha they put in and then after i finish that appointment dr tareen tells me "since your tooth had very different anatomy i couldve missed a small canal and you might have to go back to an endodontist if this fails in a year" she should have told me about the option of an endodontist right away if she knew my tooth had confusing anatomy. Anyways i go home and wake up the next day my jaw is swollen even bigger i message the doctor and they said go to the er it could be life threatening so then i go to the er i get an IV and then i passed out and had to get put on oxygen then i had to get blood cultures to see if i was going septic. And then the hospital tells me i have to stay overnight on iv antibiotics because in the morning i had to get my tooth extracted and i had to get my jaw cut open and drained by an oral surgeon. I am well recovered now but I definitely do not recommend this place my girlfriends aunt used to work here aswell and said it was super unprofessional. If they had did their due diligence and checked me properly instead of rushing my appointment just to bill my insurance for the money i think this could have been avoided. I would give 0 stars if i could because all the fillings they gave me are still sensitive to hot and cold and i live everyday in pain not to mention the fillings have cracked and chipped multiple times

From that very moment of filling out paperwork and explaining my prior situation the entire staff showed me nothing but comfort ,empathy And positive support. Still have lock jaw!! Nine phone calls placed regarding my condition just looking for help. Not once did he have me come back into the office despite my problem. He could care a less. I finally had to go to Urgent Care to get meds he could have easily provided with one simple visit. Incredible lack of concern for his patients. Still have lock jaw and unable to eat solids, next will have to seek out Oral Surgeon. I get things happen but his total lack of patient aftercare is unforgivable. To leave a patient in pain and distress is completely unacceptable. He would rather keep repeating on the phone that he is glad you're doing better despite you telling him otherwise. Then decided to dismiss you as a patient. I have gone to this practice for many many years but new to seeing him as my dentist retired. What a shame that their other dentists such as Dr Stachel who should not be in dentistry unless he can capably take care of patients and issues if they arise instead of ignoring something he did wrong.
