I get massages frequently, and this was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had. The massage began with Lynn placing a blanket over me even though I was already covered by a sheet. She then proceeded to glide her hands over the top of the blanket, explaining that she was warming up my back and getting the circulation going. The contact was so minimal that it was practically pointless. In all my years of receiving massages, I have never experienced a warm-up like this. I specifically requested more pressure, and when she continued using such light pressure, I told her during the massage that she needed to press harder. Even after I communicated this directly, she still did not adjust the pressure to meet my request. I had already been experiencing significant shoulder discomfort before the appointment and made her aware of that. When she worked on my shoulder, the technique consisted largely of pressing hard with her thumbs directly into knots, with little variation in technique. Rather than helping, the massage exacerbated my existing shoulder problem. My arms and legs received little attention, and the finger-pulling technique at the end of the session felt ineffective and poorly executed. Overall, the massage lacked the technique, coverage, and responsiveness I expect from a professional massage service. I communicated my needs, both before and during the appointment, yet they were not adequately addressed. I left feeling worse than when I arrived.

While relaxation and pampering are nice, I prefer to do therapy that addresses my pain and provide relief. When given the option this evening, I chose the constructive painful path and have NEVER been more grateful for the work and time Nicole put in! After over 200 massages at least, this is the best one I've ever had and she provided coaching on daily stretches customized to my challenges.
