Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich
Nic W.

When you arrive you will order at the counter. The staff was friendly and super helpful. After ordering you can grab a seat in the dining area. There is plenty of seating for small and large groups. There's a place to get your drink and grab some sauce from a variety of options. Our food came out quickly and portions were of good size. The Nashville hot chicken was dusted with some seasoning. It was not hot and quite frankly i couldn't taste the seasoning. The size was good and the chicken tasted good after I added some sauce. The nachos were delicious and full of flavor. The baked beans were solid as was the mac n cheese. And I had to get the hush puppies and they didn't disappoint.

Food was to salty to enjoy
Tiphani M.

First time coming to City Barbeque I must say I was disappointed. The greens and eat were way to salty. You can tell the used the same seasoning for everything. Couldn't eat the greens had to switch to Mac & cheese it wasnt hot. The turkey and chicken would have been very good if they didn't put salty seasoning on or in everything. $50 wasted for me. customer service was very good though

Looks may be deceiving. This is not good food. Period. End of story.
Dustin H.

Don't let the location fool you. With so many great restaurants nearby, like Tougen, Tiger Bakery and Poco Piatti, you might assume City BBQ is guilty by association. But don't, because it is not. It's just guilty of being mediocre, and that's being kind. A recent meal offered brisket so dry I had a difficult time swallowing it, sausage that was surprisingly flavorless without a hint of fire thrown it's way, collard greens undercooked and umbelieveably salty, and pulled pork that was just plain disappointing. One star for the hush puppies that were clearly fresh and hot. Toledo isn't particularly known for it's BBQ, but luckily we have some great options if you're looking. Just do yourself a favor and just avoid this place, it's not worth your time, tastebuds or money.

Ribs, Cole slaw, Mac & cheese, corn bread and corn pudding

Our first time here. When you walk in you order at counter and then they call you for food. Looked yummy when the order came. Ribs were ok. Was pleased with rib Tuesdays. Cornbread is semi sweet. Cole slaw was yummy, needed a little S&P, corn pudding was delicious. We will be back.

A solid barbecue offering in the suburban Toledo area. The staff are kind of food is good. The sauces are fun to try (I always recommend the mustard style sauce) and they have like five or six different ones. The prices are kind of high, though, considering the food and this is coming from someone who lives in DC I ordered a platter of two meats, and did not get any sides with it, Having to order them separately which made my bill over $25 for a two meat platter. This is quite high in my opinion for just decent, chain quality barbecue that said, and given the options in the area this is good and their brisket is above par. All in all, a good choice for a family bbq outing. Just beware the prices can add up quickly.

Scammed

Absolute SCAM! Do NOT come to this restaurant if you plan on taking 4 bites for $18. What an actual joke. It's been normal in the past, but this is sad for a BBQ place

Not a bad place for BBQ. I didn't know that this place was a chain. It was fairly expensive for the amount of food you get. Everything is a la carte and the sides aren't worth it.

After visit #2, I'm not sure there will be a visit #3 anytime soon. The consensus among friends -- confirmed now by our own table -- is that everything is too heavy. The first few bites bring the oohs and the ahhs. By halfway through the plate, the ughs and the oofs begin. The menu reads as thoughtful and dialed in. Our table of four ordered very different entrees -- seafood, steak, pasta, salad -- and somehow every plate arrived at the same destination: rich, savory, dense. No acid. No brightness. And strangely, blue cheese and garlic had crept into every single bite, as if the kitchen could not bear to let a dish leave without them. A meal that should have pleased everyone left most of us with a mild remorse. I felt surprisingly ill for hours afterward -- not because anything was unsafe, not because it wasn't delicious, but because it was simply too much. Too rich. Too savory. The body, it turns out, asks for contrast, and we had not been given any. The service, on the other hand, is STILL outrageously good. Without question some of the best in the region -- better than nearly every higher-end room in town. But the atmosphere is stuffy, the food is one-note, and high quality is not the same thing as good execution. My wife's "medium plus" steak arrived extremely rare. My salmon was undercooked. At this price, that is inexcusable. Still -- the service. The service is something to behold.

I personally like to see it on paper so I can view ingredients but Im going with the flow. The service is a stand out here. Started with garlic bread bites. Server indicated there is a light blue cheese drizzle that they actually drizzle at the table. Neither of us are big fans of blue cheese and made sure to tell her when she started. She said its very mild n not overpowering. It was not mild n it was overpowering. I love love bread n I only ate one square. French onion soup was good per the man. I wanted the chicken special but when I said Ididn't care for peppers the server said she didn't recommend it then. Not sure why peppers couldn't be removed? but I took her advice and chose shrimp instead. Shrimp n mashed potatoes for me. Lamb chops n some type of potatoes for him. It was fine. At the price point($200 for 2) I was expecting more than fine. They did bring him a bday dessert but as she stated they don't sing happy birthday. Ok then. Stashed the leftovers in the car and went next door for beers n bday shots. More my speed. I would come back if its someone else's choice

Tonight we shared the BLT with avocado and their skin-on fries (so good!). I had the Tropical Cherry Mule --absolutely delicious--and David tried the Hazy Vibes IPA. Yesterday he and his buddy sampled the Lacto Kooler Sour, loved it so much they bought a six-pack and a shirt before leaving! A huge shoutout to our bartenders, Sarah and Shana, who made us feel right at home. We also had the pleasure of meeting owner Carla, who is incredibly friendly and a fellow dog lover--always a bonus in my book! The artwork throughout the brewery is stunning, hand-painted by two tattoo artists from Old World Tattoo in Imlay City. The detail is incredible and really gives the place its own unique personality. And that logo? So cool! If you're looking for a great new spot with amazing drinks, tasty food, awesome people, and a fun vibe, definitely check them out. Canton, you've got a winner! We recently hosted a retirement party for my boss here, and from start to finish the experience was outstanding. Wayne and Amy were incredible to work with while planning everything--they helped coordinate the setup, worked with us on catering appetizers, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. They even accommodated us bringing in our own cake, which was a huge plus. They gave us a large dedicated section for our group, and everything ran seamlessly all night. The food and drinks were fantastic across the board--everyone in our party was raving. The pretzel bites with beer cheese were a big hit, and the pulled pork nacho bar for appetizers was next level. People kept going back for more and talking about it all night. But the real standout of the evening was our waitress, Karissa. She was an absolute rockstar. We had a large group with individual tabs for everyone, and she kept everything perfectly organized without missing a beat. Drinks were always full, food came out quickly, and no one was left waiting or confused. Whatever system she was running behind the scenes--it worked flawlessly. It's not easy to keep a big group happy, and she made it look effortless. Whether you're going for a casual dinner or planning a large event, this is a place that knows how to take care of people. Highly recommend.

The burger was well done (there's a sign that says this is how the cook them, so I was expecting that). They're cooked on a flat-top, so the burgers do get that crusty edge to them. The toppings are diced... So, the problem with diced lettuce and onions is they tend to fall out of the sandwich. It just makes it a pain to eat. They used 2 slices (very thin, I might add) of tomato. The very thin, small slices were not placed evenly over the burger but stacked on top. Lazy prep on the sandwich maker's part. The bun was not really toasted and very doughy. The doughy bun wasn't unique to this visit. It's just 5 Guys standard burger bun. It's too large and really needs to be toasted (they really need to just use different buns). I didn't order fries as who really needs 5 pounds of French fries??? Especially since an order of fries is something close to $5 bucks. It's their gimmick and it's just dumb. I did ask if they had a smaller, more reasonable side of fries and the gal rather sheepishly said they did not, but she too wishes they did. Even if they offered a combo for a small savings??? On the plus side, they do have one of those seemingly, endless-choice soft drink machines where you can get almost anything you can think of. Love those! The place is clean, and the staff was nice. So, my burger and regular beverage was $14.00. I can get a better burger with fries AND A TALL DRAFT BEER at Good Times for the same money. 5 Guys just isn't worth it...

I realized however that I didn't realize the challenges that elderly/disabled people face when dining out. I had taken my mom to her cardiologist and he suggested that I take my mom out for a late lunch- which I enthusiastically embraced. Upon arriving at My Way Bistro, we were able to park in a handicapped parking spot with a slope to the sidewalk, which was helpful to my mom, who relies upon a walker for mobility. Upon arriving inside the restaurant, we were given our choice of booths or tables. I never realized before that the tables and booths are very high for someone with limited ability to lift their arms. There were no other options that we saw and my mom did her best to settle into a booth that I found comfortable but the table was clearly too high for my mom. She was a great sport however and made do with the high tabled booth. My mom ordered a lamb gyro with fries and I ordered my usual Georgia Reuben with fries. My mom was very pleased with her gyro. It had lots of vegetables and meat, and she said the tszazicki (sp?) sauce was delicious. She also enjoyed the fries. I loved my Georgia Reuben because the cole slaw has a kick of black pepper and other ingredients that make it taste amazing. The homemade Thousand Island dressing was soooo delicious! I was a little disappointed in the fries because they were fried more than I prefer but were still good. Best of all, we both took home leftovers! Seriously, the plates couldn't adequately support the generous portions of food with heaping amounts of fries- and I say that as a good thing! The ambiance is that of an upscale sports bar, but was pretty quiet when we were there, even though screens were turned on. Our server was very responsive and efficient. Prior to her bumper-pool walking style on the way out, as she was seated, she hoisted up her leg and placed her heel on the man's shoulder she was with. Mercy! Alcohol can cause strange events to happen. We both ordered the Blackened Salmon Quinoa Salad with the Walnut Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing. Salad cost $18. To me, the salmon portion was a bit smaller than anticipated, but had a good blacked spiced mix and done very nicely.
