Food good, setting is pleasant, but staff has quite off-putting attitude (maybe a Spanish thing). Wait staff went thru motions of seating/taking orders/etc but never smiled or helped us get comfortable, never asked how our food was, charged us per glass price when we ordered full two bottles of Cava, got two dishes wrong when delivered to table and took 15 mins to get corrected order plated. Cava very good, Monkfish Soup was quite good albeit thin, salads were large and filled with fresh berries, entree portions adequate, desserts (violet ice cream & red berry foam/Belgium chocolate square) were a highlight. Again, food good, staff needs refresher on how to be nice to foreigners.

Location and food - Citrus got both right! Our group sat on the 2nd floor next to the window with beautiful views of the street with high-end shops. Just before us were the famous Gaudi's brilliantly designed streetlights. Very clean restaurant. Food was spot on. There were several tapas which were presented - salad, calamari, squid, croquettes and Huevos Rotos. The olive oil on the table was delicious. I ordered the fish entree, which was baked hake with lime and tomato puree with basil and potatoes. It was delicious. Star dish of the night was the Catalan Creme Brulee. I desist creme brulee, but this one was outstanding. The only reason I've not given Citrus 5 star rating is because - I asked the server if the fish served had bones in it. He said no, it's boneless (it wasn't!). Maybe it's all the previous dining experiences in Spain, that I was careful while eating and yes, there were bones in it. Other than this, the service was good.

On our last night in Barcelona, we dined here for dinner. Sat on the 2nd floor overlooking the busy street downstairs! (1) Fried artichoke hearts for appetizer (2) Calamari for appetizer (3) Salad for 1st course (4) Fish was my choice for main entree (5) Veal was my husband's choice for main entree (6) creme brulee for dessert! We enjoyed house White & red wine with our meal!

We got seated right away and got our beverages. They were out of a lot of items and it was very early in the night still. The food was okay....but nothing out of this world. The view was nice and the servers were attentive.

This restaurant was a recommendation from our hotel for good Mediterranean food and is located in a central area of L'Eiample (which was one of my favorite areas of Barcelona filled with lots to attractions and high-end shopping). It was described to us as a place with sophistication and impeccable food. Overall, we were very happy we went with our hotel's recommendation, It's on an upper level which allows for guests to overlook the city, which to me is always nice for added ambiance. It's also an ideal place to take a date as the vibe of the restaurant is warm and intimate. The service was up to par and you can tell they are there to make sure your dining experience is perfect. We decided to go all out and try a little of everything including starting off with a pitcher of sangria (which was good but not remarkably memorable in any way) along with appetizers (including paella, which wasn't the best we had in Barcelona in which I recommend hitting up the little places for that), entrees, and dessert. All the seafood we ordered was heavenly, I mean truly unique and delicious. Our dessert wasn't anything exceptional, but still worth trying (we went with the "Belgian Chocolate" which I guess was a generic choice on our part but usually chocolate is always a classic choice that doesn't disappoint). The dining experience, ambiance, along with amazing selection of food (at reasonable prices) makes this restaurant a great choice for someone looking for a hint of "sophistication" in Barcelona, as the hotel brilliantly described this place.

A modern restaurant with a great view to Passeig de Gràcia. The prices are moderate for the food and service. One disadvantage is that you have to wait very long to get a table, even if you made a reservation (!), because the restaurant seems to be very popular for its value for money.

From the fancy white table cloths, to the well dressed servers, to the long wait, I expected to receive great service and taste something gastronomically amazing and full of flavor. That was not the case. We were a party of 4. After waiting 30 minutes, we were told our table was ready and we were allowed to go upstairs. Only to wait another 15 minutes on a bench. Finally we were sat at our table, only to wait another 15 minutes to receive menus. We ordered water and wine, they brought the wine and let it sit on our table for another 15 minutes unopened. When the waitress returned she asked us if we were ready to order. I told her nicely we have been waiting a long time and if she can please open the bottle of wine. Instead, she started letting me know that they were really busy and that there were other people in the restaurant. I don't know if it was a language barrier but I speak fluent Spanish and this conversation happened in Spanish. I didn't want to argue so I just let her say what she needed to say. Instead of opening the bottle of wine, she starts to force us to make our order and starts typing it in on her little handheld gadget, as the bottle still sat on our table unopened. She leaves and returns after 10 more minutes and finally opens the wine. I don't know who trained this staff, I wish they would have just given me the bottle opener, we would have already been on our second bottle. To start, we each ordered a salad, two got the house salad, one a spring roll salad dish, and I got the tomato salad with tuna on top. House salads looked like American house salads you would get at an ordinary diner, the spring roll had no flavor, but my tomato salad was delicious. The tomatoes was fresh, but had it not been for the tomatoes, the dish was uneventful. For our main entrees, we ordered the hamburger, filet, veal, and steak tartare. Each of us had a taste of each others plates. The only thing that was good was the filet, which was tender and perfectly cooked. The hamburger patty was dry, the veal was dry, and my steak tartare was flavorless, under seasoned, and looked like the hamburger patty before it was cooked. We all got french fries, the fries were not bad. I must say the whole night was not wasted, thanks to the 3 bottles of wine and the great company. We had such amazing dining experiences in Barcelona, I didn't think you could get forgettable, under seasoned, and uneventful food in this city. Well, I was wrong. If you want to wait a long time with bad service and bland, lackluster food, this is the place. I suggest finding a hole in the wall with character and spirit, you'll get better food and service.

We were recently in Barcelona and Citrus was our favorite restaurant. We were there only 5 days and dined at Citrus twice we loved it so much. I had the most succulent and fresh fish there, prepared so perfectly and served over a bed of puréed potatoes that were to die for. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful! Service was great, wines were wonderful too. I highly recommend Citrus. I want to go back to Barcelona just to eat there again!

Very mediocre. Food not hot and some items over cooked. Not busy on a Friday night so no excuse there. A lot better places to go for sure.

Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering. We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that. Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite. Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu. What we ate: Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer. Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting. Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari. Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite. Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing! After 18 hours of transiting; this was a delectable experience.

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

We ordered fresh salmon with dill, coroquetas de jamón iberico, a cod fritter, and chicken cannelloni with foie gras and black truffle sauce. It's done so right, juicy tangy, bursting with flavors and the pita in the salad is made into a curly flower and gives a delicious crunch.
