After being a customer for 5 plus years I deposited a check from one of my money management accounts (Voya Financial) the froze my debit cards and acted like my deposit was fraudulent. I went into the bank and spoke to them in person and nobody could give me a reason why my debits card were frozen instead the started questioning me about where did the check come from it's a check from Voya Financial which is a Bank of America check like you are a bank and you never heard of any of this. what a joke no wonder why they have a 2.9 star rating read more

I like the people who work there,however they are never open when I need them. Close early on Friday, at 3pm and only open 9am 12pm on Sat. No hours on Sunday. Useless to me. No reason not to shift hours on Friday to accommodate customers who are still working. Same hours opened, but open later and close later. I'm over it. NEW @Stoneham, MA, Stop and Shop branch. Just finished grocery shopping and needed to complete a 20 second deposit of a check. There were two tellers and a manager in her office, which she was helping a couple sitting down. One teller was helping and elderly gentleman and the other teller was standing at the other computer. I was the only person in line, no one waiting behind me. The teller at the computer finally looked up and saw me waiting with my check and credit card in hand. He motioned one minute to me and I acknowledged and waited patiently. He never greeted me or communicated at all, except the one minute gesture. Then he turned picked up a large thermos and just sauntered by me and left the store completely. Not a word, not a mention that he was on break, didn't even ask what I needed help with, absolutely no customer service or care given. He was just completely disregarding, disinterested in assisting with my transaction and arrogant. I waited an additional five minutes, but the other teller was still busy with the other customer and the manager had her office door shut, so there was no one to help with my deposit, so I left. My husband was waiting in the car with our groceries anyway. Very poor and nonexistent customer service and totally unprofessional attitude. I've been a Citizens Bank customer for years and have multiplied accounts. That is definitely not a way to treat anyone, especially loyal customers. Shame on You! read more

Nice to have an ATM right inside the Stop & Shop, but minus 5 million stars for completely F'n up my girls' account. Opened an account - week 1 went by - no mail. We call - they F'ed up and never put down her last name. And they used some weird address. So - basically some stranger got paperwork and a bank card in the mail to use immediately to access her funds. Nice. Thanks. Week 2- last name and address fixed, but still no PIN in the mail as promised. They have their heads up their prostates here. Citizens is a joke bank. read more

The total of $500 was missing from my account in the time period of 2 month. They called it an "encoding error". The "error" would cost me $500 if I did not notice, leaves me wondering how many more "errors" were made during the past 10 years, since I become a customer. However, the missing money were not the worst part. When I called customer service the gentleman advised me to call the branch, and I did, and this is when all started. Sabrina, the manager, looked at my account and immediately denied that checks were deposited at her branch, instead she said I made a deposit at the ATM in another city. She went on telling me that I made a mistake, and should watch the amount when depositing. I guess it is true when they say "attack is the best defense". I never deposit checks via ATM so, I asked her to double check and she admitted that the deposits were made at her branch. We scheduled an appointment for me to come in person. I came in at a scheduled time but the manager was not there. I guess it did not matter to her, never mind I had to take a half day off work. The assistant manager, Leanne, just could not be more rude, incompetent and unprofessional. I am not sure how Citizens Bank does the hiring, but it seems to me that the rudeness, incompetence and unprofessionalism are the top requirements for the management position. The provoking , rude behavior of the assistant manager escalated situation to an ugly conflict. I would advise all and everyone - take your money elsewhere, maybe the place where your business is appreciated, and people know what "customer service" actually means - afterall, we let them use our money for free, and they are in business because of us... read more

If it was possible to give this place negative stars I would. My issue does not come from the customer service but rather the check cashing policies they have. I do not have a Citizens Bank account (nor would I ever), but my employers issue checks under them. Now I have direct deposit at my personal bank, since I live in the 21st century, but I also get mileage reimbursement checks from work. Those are not electronically deposited. Damn. I recently had a few checks, and was heading out for the evening. Instead of taking out cash from an ATM I figured I would cash them here, being as they are on Citizens Bank. I wish I had it to do over again. Upon entering I was taken right away from a friendly enough teller. I explained I wanted to cash the checks and that no I do not have an account here. I had two separate checks, one for under $100, and one for over $200. I was told that I would be charged $5 to cash the $200 check, but there was no charge for the smaller check (how generous of them). But the absolute worst part was I was told they needed a fingerprint. Yes thats right a fingerprint. Why this was needed could not be adequately explained to me. All these years I assumed I lived in America, but apparently I had wandered into the Peoples Republic of Citizens Bank, a completely sovereign state that can fingerprint whomever they please. I will say the teller was apologetic about the process, and said it was her least favorite policy of the bank. I would hope so. So, because I had the temerity to go use their bank to cash a check drawn on one of their accounts and had a picture ID, I was fingerprinted. Ladies and gentlemen I ask you, what is wrong with this bank? I have loathed myself for not walking out of there on principle alone, but I was in a hurry and folded like a cheap tent. I will not make that mistake again. If anyone who reads this works for Citizens Bank I would REALLY like an explanation of what gives you the right to fingerprint a person to cash a check, and then have the unmitigated gall to charge me $5 to do it.? I wish it were possible to provide negative stars... You would think, as a bank, they would (a) have currency and (b) partake in everyday banking activities like currency exchange. However, neither seem to be the case... I attempted to convert a $10 bill into quarters and was told they only do it for existing customers??? Every other bank in the country, you can walk in, exchange currency, walk out - it's a primary function of a bank!!! Not only are the employees rude, they're clearly incompetent. So I switched banks a while back. Citizens started whacking me with monthly charges for my checking account, which, after YEARS of having, suddenly did not meet their minimum account balance. I switched to a local bank instead (I would suggest this for everyone). read more

The people working there are very rude, mainly the women. I don't know what their issue is. I go there every weekend to exchange cash for change for work. They take forever to get change and make me wait 15 minutes to a half hour. Surprisingly one of the girls named Victoria (ironic my own name) was probably the rudest of them all asking me if I understand what she's telling me and repeated do you understand twice. YES! I understood the first time I don't know why you need to keep asking me the same question. Her attitude is ridiculous when she talks, like calm down. read more
