VIP TAILGATING…read more Tailgating is the best part of a Bears home game and it is always fun. As an ex-Nears season ticket holder, I've enjoyed my fair share of standing in this parking lot freezing, while drinking a cold can of beer and eating a hot brat. It's always a blasts but imagine if it was elevated! The Arena Club takes it to the next level. There's no tailgates to sit on here or coolers of icy beer. This is like a skybox on asphalt with bartenders, a live dj and fantastic tailgate bites. I've attended this tailgate party a couple of times over the last three years. The tailgate bites were created by Chicago Culinary Kitchen on location and their food is just amazing. This year they rolled out their bad ass food truck and served up delicious BBQ. We started out with some amazing pork belly covered in honey and BBQ seasoning. After my first bite I realized that I might have died and gone to piggy heaven. They also made a marinated steak sandwich with spicy cherry peppers. It was so good. Next I enjoyed their brisket beef chili topped with Fritos and yes it was chili because it had no beans. Beans make it a stew or a soup. The spice level on the chili was fantastic. Next it was time for seafood. They served up a bbq seasoned grilled shrimps on a skewer. I think we have now reached the surf and turf portion of our parking lot event. My culinary day ended with their Italian Meatball slider with giardiniera. They own the best tailgate food in the parking lot of Soldier Field. Take that Aaron Rodgers! There was also incredible music from The DJ firm. They have a mobile dj on wheels. They roll in and start rocking in minutes. They play a great mix of old school, 80's, hip hop and house music mixes. A bad Dj plays the whole song. This DJ plays 20 songs in four minutes. It's a nonstop dance party in the parking lot once the alcohol starts kicking in. Speaking of cocktails. Tommy's Mexican Restaurant from San Francisco was mixing up their famous margaritas. I also got to meet Chicago Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios. He was serving up his own tequila brand. Cheers to drinking with a legend. They also have a bar serving top shelf liquor, wine and beers. Cheers to enjoying adult beverages in the parking lot. It was a great sunny Oktober day to kick off the Bears game. The Arena Club at Soldier Field is the best tailgate party you'll ever attend. Win or Lose this event is always winning! Unfortunately, the Bears lost to the Packers. Aaron Rodgers even said he owns the Bears but Aaron doesn't own the parking lot. The Arena Club owns the best party in the parking lot. Take that Aaron!!

This August I attended both a Bears preseason game and the My Chemical Romance concert, and I…read moreenjoyed myself thoroughly at both events. That said, I have some takeaways and lessons learned. First off, security was a breeze for both events. I got to the game at least an hour before kickoff and didn't have to slow my pace to basically walk through the magnetometers. I know, depending on when you arrive, depending on how the team is doing, who the opponent is, and how the weather is would all affect this, but I wouldn't expect terrible lines unless you plan poorly. I arrived to the concert while the opener was playing and similarly walked in with ease. (If you're the type to rush for merch, maybe you'll fight a crowd, but hey, they were selling merch outside of the venue as well as inside). I'm sure it's been said before, but get yourself a clear bag if you need to pack something in (sunscreen, a sweatshirt, hand sani). And just play it cool and positive! The one moment I got stopped was when a security staffer wanted to know where they could get a coat like the one my girlfriend was wearing (basement of Macy's, you can find steals and deals). Food and drink is going to be at a premium price for less than premium quality, but anytime you're in a stadium of any kind, you're experiencing something! The buzz, the excitement, that elevated existence comes with elevated prices. There are traditional counter service vendors, the walking vendors, and various self-service areas. Just know that whatever drink you buy, they will open it or make you open it immediately. If it's a bottle, you have to toss the cap out. (I'm sure this is to reduce the chance of something being thrown, and if something IS thrown, then the damage it causes is reduced to mostly wet people as opposed to potential head injuries). With seats on the field for the concert, this went one step further and bottled beverages had to be poured into open cups. Lesson learned however: BRING IN A SODA BOTTLE CAP OF YOUR OWN! That way you can fill up with water and not worry about spilling all over yourself. Facilities were as clean as expected, vendors were all friendly. The worst part of both experiences is a common knock on Soldier Field and a common knock on many concerts/sporting events: getting out. At least at a game, people may toss the towel and dip out early, but at a concert, everyone is going to hang on until it's clear no more music is coming. And then that mass of humanity has to shuffle out in a smooth and orderly fashion. As if. Getting out after the My Chem show, there was a shocking volume of bodies all moving in the same direction even outside of the stadium (I may have climbed a wall and hopped a railing to pass a bottleneck...), and even a mile out, there were still pockets of us ambling about. So maybe those parking passes might be worth it?

I have been to many games over the years... and have attended a game the last two years in a row now - both in the United Club. Great seats, terrific view, shorter lines (for bathrooms, food, and drinks), and some Bears wins! Parking is about the only complaint I could have, as it is a bit of a mess... but lucky for me, I did not drive for either game... so I just got to relax and enjoy the city, lake, and stadium views! *****FIVE STARS*****

Ok venue for a concert. The location is right on the lake which makes it a little hard to get too…read more I'd recommend taking public transportation. The drinks are a bit over priced (it's the most I've ever paid for a beer ever) and the seating is just folding chairs zip tied together. There's no GA pit section and I think they can have lawn seats but choose not to for most shows. There's VIP extras but in my option they are not worth it. You'll have more fun in the main seating section which I might add doesn't have obstructions except for the extreme corners. The bathrooms are nice (not port-a-potty style) and the staff is friendly. If it's a band you really want to see, I'd recommend going. If you're on the fence, wait until the band plays at another venue.

It sold out before I could purchase it. The next closest parking option, which was still pretty expensive was $40 at Solider Field North Garage. It was also a 15 minute walk. The actual venue is an experience. There were picnic tables for seating options before you entered and quite a few food and drinking booths. The seating inside was divided into sections - the pit was closest to the stage (standing room only), folding chair options in the 200s and actual seats in the 300s . Even though my seat was a folding chair, it felt sturdy enough and I was comfortable. I did love the big screens up that ensured everyone, no matter your section, could see the show. Please note that there is no reentry so you can't come in and out. Overall, I thought my time at the venue was okay. I would still go back now knowing what to expect.

Somehow, I learned about a children's production presented through their educational wing. I'm not sure if their education & engagement was this strong in years past or perhaps I simply wasn't dialed into their offerings, but that's definitely changing now. We went to see Splish Splash. This was a 50 minute long story about a blue heron and friends who are seeking to repair the moon after it fell into Lake Michigan. There were songs, there was play, and it was highly interactive. The kids--fellow "sailors", along with three of the cast members--learned a song to sing along at various parts of the show. There were several times when the kids were invited onto the "stage" (it was in one of their lab/classroom spaces, so there wasn't a raised stage) to help or participate. It was so well done, and kept the kids engaged. I really loved how this experience was designed. Upon arrival we were checked in and pointed to one of the classroom spaces. I was surprised because I wasn't sure how actors could be safe there, but it was actually a room for the kids to color and read books or play with toys and stuff before we were taken into the room where the performance took place. I've only seen something that was meant to keep kids busy like that before showtime is at Filament Theatre, and we've gone to kids shows at two or three other theaters by now. It was a great touch. This production was specifically geared toward children aged 0-5, which is atypical and felt so special that it was written with the littlest theatergoers. One of the important pre-show reminders was for adults, reminding us that it's a no-shush zone! I'm so excited that one of the most important theaters in the city, and the oldest non-profit theater still in operation in Chicago, is so committed to developing young audiences in an exciting way and meeting them where they're at. We'll be regulars at their Theatre for the Very Young programs.

Even ChatGPT knew--Gold Coast is the ticket broker supreme!…read more I had 4 VIP Lollapalooza wristbands to sell last-minute from California when my plans to attend fell through. With just one day left before the event, I was desperate and had no idea where to turn. Out of sheer panic, I asked ChatGPT (no eye rolls please, lol) what to do--and when I inquired about a concierge-level, white glove ticket broker, it recommended Dan Finkel at Gold Coast Tickets. Let me just say: ChatGPT nailed it. Dan took really good care of me on price and walked me through the process step-by-step. It was seamless, and the money was in my account the moment he received the wristbands. But what happened next absolutely stunned me: Two of the four wristbands weren't working properly. I happened to be on the phone with Dan when the issue arose--and I overheard him calmly reassuring the new buyers that if anything didn't work, he'd send a courier immediately with replacements. And then... I heard him do exactly that--dispatching two new wristbands to the buyers on the spot. Even though the issue was on my end, Dan handled everything with grace, speed, and total professionalism. He protected the buyers, took responsibility, and made sure everyone was taken care of. This is exactly the kind of Midas-touch, high-integrity, concierge-level service I had asked ChatGPT about--and I got to watch it unfold in real time. If you're looking for someone who handles both buyer and seller with care, fairness, and human kindness, Dan Finkel is your guy. Whether you're in Chicago or anywhere else--go to Gold Coast Tickets. I'm still stunned. And yes... apparently ChatGPT really does know everything. And no--ChatGPT didn't write this review. I did. ;)

Crazy how I have lived in Chicago now for 9-years and just now visiting C2E2 Chicago. A co-worker of mine, who has attended it recommended it to me year after year. And as stubborn as I am, I never made it after he recommended it year after year. For those of you who are not in the nerd stratosphere like I, tehehe, C2E2 is a three-day event that celebrates comics, cosplay, gaming, wrestling, and anime. Other than seeing the cosplay outfits, and the wrestlers, I cannot lie, the lovely Amy Jo Johnson (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Pink Ranger), who I had a crush on as a kid, slightly persuaded me to attend this year. Even Maxwell Jacob Friedman (or simply MJF), a wrestler who wrestles for All Elite Wrestling had a slight influence. I was left with purchasing a ticket for Sunday, since Saturday was sold out the weekend I decided to attend. The price for a ticket was only $80, with no extra taxes! And it included access to the 300+ exhibitors, artist alley, panels, screenings, questions and answers, the show floor brand experiences, pop Asia and cosplay central, and much more. I do feel that since I purchased it late, plus it being C2E2, the price was well worth it. The mobile application was much easier to navigate on rather than the website. It had features that allowed me to highlight the events of my interest and place them on a calendar. I highly recommend downloading it prior to your C2E2 adventure. I just was not in the mood to take public transportation to C2E2, even though it is very convenient, and affordable! Instead, I drove my vehicle and paid only $16 to park in lot B of McCormick Place, which was not that bad of a walk from the lot to the venue. The event gave off a very lively vibe! I absolutely adored the cosplay outfits worn by enthusiasts which inspired me to dress up in the future. Maybe I will cosplay as Kwame, the bearer of the Earth Ring, a Planeteer from the cartoon Captain Planet. I cannot wait for next year's event, and I just may purchase my ticket once ticket sales open up. The arcade gaming area was a complete throw back into the 1990's for me! Double Dragon, Street Fighter, NBA Jam, and Primal Rage, yes! I took a liking to many of the displays whether it be for costume, the t-shirts, and even the decorations by Collect PCS which had fabulous statue displays of Michael Jordan, Chun-Li, Shredder, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Oddly, I had the theme to American sketch comedy television series Mad Tv stuck in my head while walking around. And low-and-behold, I walked right by the booth in artist alley of Tom Richmond, the "Mad Art of Caricature" author and longtime MAD Magazine artist. As an avid wrestling fan, I could not resist stopping at the Pro Wrestling Tees booth where I saw former WWE wrestler Mustafa Ali, who currently wrestles in TNA. Along with getting a glimpse of Mustafa, I could not resist picking up both the TNT, and AEW Championship belt sitting on the Pro Wrestling Tees display table. What could be done better is labeling the sections and booths which would make them easier to identify for someone utilizing the application. As overwhelmed as I felt inside of the show floor, it was even harder to find the booths where I could participate in the activities I was interested in. As indicated in this review, I certainly enjoyed and cannot wait to return to C2E2 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. I highly recommend it if you enjoy not only comics, but cosplay, gaming, wrestling, and anime as well. ~ Oh darling, let's be adventurers ~ Thomas G
