Ciro's is reliably good in an area where options are very limited. They tend to stay busy with takeout, but also have in-restaurant casual dining. In addition to pizza, they have a full menu of subs and apps. I really enjoyed my cheese pizza. The dough was light and fluffy. They were also generous with the cheese. Service was attentive. Was out of town visiting some friends and was really craving a sub. No one answered their phone so I drove in town and placed my order. Drove back and started to eat my turkey cheese sub. All of sudden I bit down and it felt very hard!! I spit everything out and thank god I did because it was a big piece of glass! I once again tried to call them and no answer. I drove back in and all they said was sorry could have been the pickle jar and we can remake you a new sub. I did get my money back but that's besides the point. How can a restaurant even think to make a new sub when you don't know where all the other pieces are. You need to throw away all your stuff in that area to make sure there is no more glass. We recently rented a house in Sparta NC thru Vrbo. The hosts left a binder on the table and it was chock full of different menus. Ciro's had one of those full color glossy brochures and the pictures looked delicious but I said, "This is clear in VIRGINIA!" Hubs told me to map it. So, we drove just 5 miles into Independence VA to pick up food. Some reviews complained about the prices but we took a chance. We ordered the XL pizza with pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers and mushrooms, a medium Greek pizza (OMG see the picture), plus 10 hot wings and 10 teriyaki wings and they threw in a free liter of Coke. We paid about $58 for all of that. Everything was so flavorful and we ate on the pizza for 3 meals so I feel like it was a bargain. This is a family owned, genuine Italian restaurant. There are a lot of pasta dishes that I will try in the future, so stay tuned. read more

Stopped in after a long day of hiking for some pizza. Someone on Yelp suggest the white pizza so we got that and some cheese sticks. They cheese sticks were bomb diggity, really good! For a little pizza place in a small town, Ciro's really wowed us! My wife and I ate there memorial day weekend. Lovely outdoor seating area, the staff and service were quite good, the restaurant was clean and well kept but the food was the real star! My wife's garden salad was big enough to eat three times and she absolutely loved her spaghetti! I ordered the small calzone. It came out and was the biggest calzone I've ever seen!! The crisp crunchy freshness of the ingredients with the cheese and the dough was incredible! What an amazing amazing flavor! Independence, Virginia may be a small town, but they have a big flavor pizza place as an option to eat! Restaurants in Independence are very limited. Thank goodness for Ciros! They have great food! We eat here regularly. Owners are so nice but they are usually doing the cooking so you may not meet them. Portions are always large and very shareable or great for leftovers. Some of our favorite menu items are the shrimp roll, steak and cheese subs, burgers, bbq chicken pizza, and Greek style breadsticks. It's usually faster to eat in or pickup. Like most places they have limited staffing at times, so delivery sometimes takes longer. Prices are reasonable especially with the amount of food they give you. read more

We don't visit Independence, VA a lot, but when we do, we have lunch at Ciro's. It's a "can't miss" for great tasting food on a dime. During our most recent visit, we ordered Garlic Knots and a Side Salad for appetizers, a small White Pizza, an 8-inch "Leave it to Ciro's" sub with french fries, and a side order of french fries. If that sounds like a lot of food, it was. In fact, it was even more than that because the restaurant was running a special. If you spent $20 (before tax), you received a free one-topping medium pizza! And that's why we added the side order of fries; to push us over the top. The Garlic Knots were fantastic. They're small pieces of dough coated and cooked and served in a small pool of oil on a plate. Each knot is as big around as a slice of pepperoni and they serve something like two dozen knots for a single order. The Side Salad was much larger than the less-than-$2 price suggests. Filled with lettuce, tomatoes, and all the usual salad bits, it's a nice addition to a meal. The White Pizza is divine. We love our fair share of cheese and this pizza hits the spot. Despite all the large quantities of food we had, we only took two slices of the White Pizza home with us. If you're a cheese love, don't pass this up. The "Leave it to Ciro's" sub consists of ham, salami, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and a pasta sauce all on a sub roll. The 8-inch version of the sub was way too much food and we took half the sub home. All told, we had a delicious meal and still walked out with a medium one-topping pizza (we never touched it!), two slices of White Pizza, and half of an 8-inch sub and paid less than $25! An order of that size with that flavor in any major city would easily top $30, if not $40. read more
