We were visiting from out of town, and had never been to Ciro's so didn't know what to expect. We were delighted with it all. Went for a birthday dinner for my Grandmother and she loves this place so I expected a lot. The outer and inner decor were both beautiful, definitely looks like a classy place. They gave us bread at the table and it was great, they had this one bread with a tomato spread on it which was GREAT. There wasn't as much selection as I would have hoped for on the menu. For dinner I ordered a gnocchi dish with a red sauce and eggplant with mozzarella. I got pasta fagioli for soup and it was pretty good, not the best I've ever had but I did like it. My gnocchi dish was just okay. The gnocchi itself tasted pretty good and was cooked well, but the eggplant was kind of burnt. I had to spit out a couple of pieces because they tasted charred. After finishing our meals we asked for more bread, our waitress told us it would be right out. After seeing another table get not one but 2 bread baskets, we asked again. She said yes it would be right out. We then didn't see her for about 15 minutes. We had brought our own dessert to celebrate my Grandmother's birthday and at that point we just forgot about the bread and ate our dessert. The waitress came back out and basically said "I can get you the bread if you really want it, but we're pretty busy." Kind of weird since we asked for it twice, and you being busy really isn't our problem. Also inside the restaurant was really loud. I think they had some type of party going on but when we first walked in it was hard to even hear. A hidden gem. I must have a driven past this place a hundred times. Never went in. My loss. The food is amazing. The entrance is in the back and looks a bit unsightly. Water dripping and such. Okay I normally don't like doing this without justification. My best friend and I frequent this place. Normally love this place but as of today he has lost a customer for good. I will never go back. Did not know they were having an "event " but they were still taking lunch guests. So they brought us to the section by the bar bc the dining room was filled to the max. No problem. They had a few tables set up not many. At first we were by ourselves. The waiter took our order and we ate. I do have to admit the food wasn't as good as it used to be. The sauce on my dish was by far so sweet it was literally disgusting. The only saving grace was the calamari modena was still delicious. We were waiting for a box for our dessert and the check. Let's not forget that waiter brought wrong dessert also. Wasn't gonna send it back bc it seemed it would cause more problems. Apparently we were asked by Ciro when were we gonna leave and why haven't we left yet? Wth?? We weren't even there long but in the middle of all this, Ciro kept taking chairs from our table and replacing them basically hinting that he needs the table. After being treated that way and the decline of the food I will never go back there again. I will find another restaurant. I usually don't like to go out on Valentine's Day because most restaurants are very crowded, noisy and overbooked. This year I decided to take my wife to this nice Italian restaurant that we have eaten at a few times before. Ciro's. I made a 7:45 reservation and was sat right on time. Already a great start. We ordered drinks, appetizer, main course, and dessert. Everything tasted great. I had the Veal Rollatini which I don't often see on many menu's. My wife had the Chicken Rollatini. Both were made with a mushroom wine sauce wich was excellent. I would also like to note that the service was excellent. My waitress kept coming by to update us on when our food was coming out. This is my 4th or 5th time eating here and every time was great. read more

This was the first restaurant in town I tried after signing the lease to my new apartment! The waitress was great?m, very sweet and helpful. The overall ambiance was nice, nothing spectacular. We had a very nice lunch at Ciro's. Our Capri pie was delicious! Our son got a normal cheese pie, and he enjoyed it very much. We also ordered the calamari modena which comes with a sweet chili sauce. This is the reason I took away 1 Star. The chili sauce was super thick and syrupy. It tasted like the chili sauce from the big jars at restaurant depot. I would not recommend this specific app, even though the calamari was ultra light and cooked to near perfection. The service was great and the waitresses were jolly and in good moods. I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant. read more

I will preface this with I don't like Italian food that much. It's just okay but I won't go out of my way to order. That said, this is my favorite Italian restaurant and I recommend trying it even if you don't normally like pasta! I always get the family deal. It is definitely worth the price of ~$40. You get a full tray of salad with an amazing dressing made in house. You also get a freshly baked bag of bread. For the entrees, you have many choices and they come in fully loaded trays as well. I get the chicken Marsala and the pasta Francaise. The sauces for both are extremely delicious. I want to try the other options but I love both of these so much, it's hard for me to want to try their other foods! 100% recommend if you're looking for a good deal with multiple options that will appeal to all types of taste buds. read more

Came for Lynn's day-before-Birthday dinner. Quickly seated and ordered drinks. A Martini and a Jack & ginger ale to start, accompanying spedini romano and calamari in sweet chili & balsamic vinegar. For main dishes, Cajun salmon over brocolli and cauliflower for lynn and rigatoni bolognese for me. The salmon was too spicy for lynn, so we swapped. I found both dishes very good. It's impossible to walk into Ciro's, be greeted by Ciro himself, and not instantly want to fall in love with the place. Ciro has to be one of the nicest restaurant owners I've ever met. Even my shy little ones just love the guy to death when we dine in. Ciro's, like Monroe Township in general, is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The area is a real melting pot of different types of people and personalities, with a high concentration of older folks. This should come as no surprise, as Monroe is home to more active adult living communities than anywhere else in the world, other than maybe Florida. And you'll find a whole lot of them at the bar at Ciro's. There seems to be a lot of older Italian retirees eating here, and that's always a good sign in an Italian restaurant. Couple that with lots of Andrea Bocelli pumping through the speakers, and you get a fairly authentic experience dining in. The food at Ciro's is good, though I haven't found any one dish worth raving about. Ironically, they have a good looking burger menu that I might have to try one day for lunch. You'll do fine with a pasta, or a caprese salad topped with one their romano-crusted chicken breasts. I recently enjoyed the Chicken Maximo - sautéed in white wine, tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, topped with asparagus & mozzarella cheese, and served over penne. What makes Ciro's a nice place to go is the service, and the fact that they are only one of a handful of places that have a full bar in the area. The menu has something for everyone, whether you want a light bite with a beer at the bar, or you want to come in with 20 people and dine like kings and queens, Ciro can accommodate. For me, I would not make Ciro's a destination for a night out. But it's a great place to meet up if you're like me and have parents living out this way, and having access to wine is an imperative to surviving family dinner. read more

Our server Valentina did an amazing job keeping everyone happy and bringing everything in a timely fashion. She even asked if we needed clean silverware after appetizers. Just had our daughters communion party here. We had a party of over 70 people and I can't say enough about the staff and food. Everyone enjoyed all the food. Love love love this place. I'm a finicky critic, and there was nothing I could complain about. The people/staff? A+. The food? Excellent. The ambiance? Excellent. I was on a date but plenty of folks around us were obviously regulars, and lots of family groups. Would definitely recommend. ON ANOTHER NOTE... When you make a reservation, if you're a party of more than 4, you should specify a ROUND table. We had a party of 6 and the maître d' sat us at a rectangular set up which was two regular tables pushed together. Perhaps for most this is fine, but if you like elbow room and leg room (two in our party were 6'6 and the third was 6'2), you need to specify round table. I still think the food is awesome, but this is the second time we've had an issue with reservations. The first time, they lost our reservation, and this time, they were completely inflexible about accommodating us table wise, even though we arrived 20m BEFORE our reservation, and the floor was pretty empty. Very disappointing. And, just to be clear, the service is as excellent as the food, it's just the front desk that can use some improvement. read more

(This restaurant used to be Basile's). Had lunch here with a friend. Not too impressed. Everything was just average quality. My salad was just all huge pieces of lettuce ribs. My friends have asked me to go back several times, but I am reluctant, they are surprised as every time they have gone they have loved their meals. Also, there is a little bit of a singles scene going on Friday and Saturday nights at the bar area, if you are in your 40's & 50's, so if you are looking to meet someone, go have a drink with a friend and scope out who is there - you might get lucky. In the meantime, I am skeptical about the food and may go back again at some point. read more

One thing our area doesn't have is a good local restaurant, we're always driving into Freehold or down to Rumson. There used to be a good restaurant called Basile's, started off good at least and spiraled down hill. Two or three other places opened and closed and then Ciro's opened. We'd been avoiding the place based on past occupants. That was a mistake. Tonight, the first evening of summer, we tried Ciro's knowing that Basile's had a small outdoor balcony with five or six tables. They weren't using it tonight but the owner said it was not a problem to set up if that's where we wanted to eat...we did and we were not alone, within a half hour all tables were full! We always like to have a drink before ordering so we ordered a wine and a Margarita. And waited. And waited. And waited. So we asked only to be told that the bar was backed up...I could already tell that! We ordered a second drink. And waited. And...I won't bore you...but we waited! Instead of an appetizer I ordered a Caesar salad with anchovies. Very good, not as good as my wife's but very good. Some places are too liberal with the croutons for my taste, not here, just the right amount. For main courses my wife went with a Mediterranean salad which she loved, it was topped by their house dressing which she didn't love. But in fairness she thought the salad was so good it didn't require dressing. I went with the lasagna. I went with the hottest lasagna I've ever tried. Once it cooled down it was very tasty, good sauce and flavorful meat. Myself I like my lasagna like deep dish, this was more flat, like two stories and I need four stories! All in all, we will be back, the food is good, the drive is close. The prices are a little on the high side but somebody has to pay for the ambiance. Local savers have coupons for Ciro's so I'll be sure to cut them out for our next visit. One other thing, I like quiet restaurants and the inside dining area of Ciro's is loud and lively. read more

Nice evoo and warm bread served here when we sat down. the waitress was a sweetheart- she made us feel welcome, not in inconvenience to her. calimari dish w a sweet and tangy sauce was out of this world (don't remember the name of this dish) prices are slightly higher that You'd expect but they have 10 and 15 % off coupons in out local papers. I have been coming here for about 5 years since we moved here last evening we got takeout and I specifically asked if there was a charge for credit cards the lady said no , then I asked how much a shrimp lemone dinner because I felt the total for that and a linguine white clam sauce was high , she said 35.00 I said the menu said 32.00 she said price is 35 so after looking on next door which I don't use much indeed there's a charge for credit cards , if I knew in advance like I asked I would have given the person cash for payment but once there it was too late , I'm sure the lady knew but with many restaurants getting push back on credit card surcharges she decided not to tell me , that being said Ciros has very good food and service but things like this leave a bad taste in your mouth so for now whereas I was going for Christmas Eve we will not so for 3.00 they lost more and I called the lady said I can give you credit no I'm not hungry for 3.00 I don't like dishonest business if you told me on the phone there's no fee there isn't !! read more

Yum, yum, yum. We dined here on a Monday night. Chef off? Hmmm - if so not a problem! It was pasta night but we chose to order off the menu. Go veal! We all ordered veal! All three different dishes were delicious! The service was excellent as we had many different members of the staff attentive to our needs and wants. The house salad was ok - this the star rating. Had it been more than Romain and a few cherry tomatoes- a few more robust ingredients ( red onion, cucumber, Italian peppers ..... it would have been great. The house dressing was however very good! One of our favorites! When we go to this restaurant, we are greeted as if a friend is inviting us into their home. Busy or not, they find a place for us. The menu is very diverse and a lot of variety--even though predominantly Italian. I typically get chicken or fish however, last night I had a bar pie. "Not like any other pizza I've every had!" There is a slight kick to the sauce, maybe hot pepper flakes, not sure. Pizza is so so good! If there's enough people in your party, get a bar pie as an appy, you'll be glad you did. The food was just so so What really was annoying was my husband's entree ,a pork chop was served raw in the middle . He sent it back and for the second time it came back raw . We were with another couple and were practically finished eating. The waitress asked him if he would like something else. The manager reserved him his chicken Frances without a word of apology or explanation . It should have been removed from the bill. My chicken parm was made with two cutlets exactly the same round shape and tasted like they were pressed chicken . His chicken francese was blandeithoutcany lemon taste whatsoever. I've been here a few times and have not been disappointed to the point where I am looking to book an event here. The atmosphere is very old school but the service and the food are great. Meals come with bread/oil and pizza-like strips. The salad was standard and the house dressing was very good. I have had the Broccoli & Tomato Pasta, Al Pomodoro Pasta, Gnocchi and have tasted my husband's meals as well. All very good. The mixed drinks are delish and are reasonably priced. The customers can be a bit on the older side but I think this is due to being in Monroe and the amount of 55 and older communities that exist there. Service was attentive and friendly. Went last week for the first time with a friend for dinner who lives nearby and raves about this place. We started with a special app of artichokes stuffed with crabmeat. It sounded very delicious and interesting so we gave it a try. I was picturing a large fresh artichoke crabmeat over the top instead we got what looked like 3 huge stuffed mushrooms. A small piece of choke was on the bottom and a ton of crabmeat was on top. They were very good and I liked that we didn't have to pull the choke meat from the leaves but it wasn't quite what I expected. For dinner I just went for a simple cavatelli with broccoli, garlic and olive oil. It was very good and a very nice portion. My friend got her fav, the Steak Palermo, Grilled New York steak topped with portabella mushrooms and pinwheeled mozzarella and onion crisp an a roasted shallot Port wine sauce, served with roasted potatoes. It was a huge piece of meat cooked to a perfect medium rare. She gave me a taste and it was so tender and flavorful. That was all for us, we were stuffed! Service was also very nice.
