I still remember my very first taco…read more It was 1971, just after I moved to East Gary, Indiana. I had made a couple of friends at school, and one day they took me to a small Mexican fast food place called Arman's. I had never had a taco before. I didn't even know what one was. They ordered for me. That first bite changed everything. It was spicy, full of flavor, and unlike anything I had ever tasted. I couldn't stop eating them. Back then, tacos were under fifty cents, so I went as often as I could afford. That taste stayed with me. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I discovered A1A Burrito Works. I walked in, and to be honest, the decor didn't impress me. But I wasn't there for ambiance. I ordered two tacos to go and headed back to my car. That's where everything changed. I tried to eat while driving. That was a mistake. These tacos were massive, packed with meat, lettuce, and everything that comes with "The Works." I had to pull over just to properly enjoy them. And then it hit me. One bite took me straight back to 1971. After decades of eating tacos all over the place, these were the first ones that brought that feeling back. The same bold flavor. The same satisfaction. The same experience I never forgot. Since then, I don't go anywhere else for tacos. If you care about flashy interiors, this might not be your place. But if you care about real flavor, generous portions, and food that actually leaves an impression, this is it. For me, A1A Burrito Works isn't just another taco spot. It's a time machine.

I hate what they've done to Steak n Shake. Before they eliminated table service and went to kiosk…read moreordered, we ate here every few weeks. The service was always excellent and made you feel like you're in a real old school burger joint. No more. We tried it again this week for the first time in three years, but it's just not as good as in the past. The tallow fries were hot and delicious, but the burgers are not cooked as they once were, with a crispy edge. Now, the patty is just kind of gray and somewhat bland. The shakes were okay, but we miss the side-by-side shakes and special flavors they once had like Very Berry Strawberry. They could have adopted the service method many other fast-food restaurants use: ordering from a human being at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. That would be far better than the impersonal kiosk.

Have ordered the fries (small) and my wife found them to be very good. Have ordered the original and also the one with bacon, and although am a big fan of bacon, found the original steakburger to be just very very tasty and it hits the spot well. The interior seems clean enough and the staff are all busy with putting orders together, so one hopes the customers tidy up their mess... maybe? When the order comes out, am able to get a smile from the staff member and that is probably due to saying, "thank you." :0) For a takeout burger, this is just fine. The burger prices seem quite competitive compared to the other fast-food places nearby. Very pleased with the quality of the ingredients and it is what it is.

We got the 12 piece fried chicken meal with 2 sides and it was around $50 with tax. We got green beans that were perfectly cooked. They had a bit of crunch with a light butter. Simple plain and delicious! The mashed potatoes were good, but the gravy wasn't my favorite. The potatoes were very good without the gravy! No issues! The chicken was traditional southern fried perfection! The crust was crunchy and not over seasoned. This meal fed 2 adult's, one teen, and a child. There was a serving leftover for lunch the next day, but 4 adults would definitely devoure the entire amount. Im always on the lookout for something good on busy nights and Metro Dinner was definitely better than Bob Evans. The only complaint is the parking lot is a bit chaotic.

Cons: - Waiter was too busy complaining about other customers than attend to us. - Fries were cold. - The creole mustard tasted like honey mustard. - Flatbread was overcooked and dry. - Our table was sticky and should have been wiped down better. - I was given tartar sauce and an unidentifiable sauce instead of blue cheese dressing. Overall, I would give it another try and hope for a better experience.
