Now, where I live every time there is news about a new fast-casual chain burger joint opening in town there are are always people saying that they wish it were such and such instead - and Whataburger is often that such and such. Since I didn't have any other plans for dinner I decided to walk over and check it out. On the cashier's recommendation I decided to try the hatch chile burger (yeah, it's Albuquerque after all!) with onion rings and a prickly pear-raspberry drink. I felt like the burger was a pretty standard fast food burger - while large, I don't particularly judge my food by volume. It is nice that they have southwestern flavors, but per the menu it doesn't seem like they are available on smaller burgers. I was happy that the onion rings were battered & fried, rather than those weird breaded rings that seem to be extruded minced onion. They also have a spicy ketchup that isn't really all that spicy but is a nice change from regular ketchup. I was glad to see that they had more than just soda available for drinks. However, I did feel like it was a tad expensive for what it is - I probably won't seek them out even if they do eventually open a franchise near home.

My chicken strips were hot & taste great. Gravy needs to be thicker. Staff were friendly, helpful, & quick to help. Building is new, super clean, well setup. Only draw back is parking is tight. I was pulling a trailer & had to park on street. No motor home will fit in this parking lot.

While they may be a bit smaller than some competitors, the quality more than makes up for it. The free chile was absolutely on point--perfectly spicy, just the way we New Mexicans like it. I'm still thinking about that bold, delicious heat and can't wait to go back for more. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I went through the drive-thru. Service was quick and efficient--I was in and out in no time. Overall, a great experience and a spot I'm excited to visit again soon!

Not only has the burrito tortilla been downsized but the contents inside have also been significantly downsized. I doubt there was a full egg in my breakfast burrito as I opened it up and there was about a teaspoon of egg. There were about five bites of potato and I bet there was maybe 1 tablespoon of carne adovada. I also ordered garnish on all three of the breakfast burritos I ordered and only one of them had garnish. I added the sour cream at home so I wouldn't have to pay extra. Please see the photographs from the prior pictures I've provided, compared to the burrito that I got this morning. The service was great, and the food was tasty, as always, but I will be SEVERELY LIMITING the amount of times I visit Twister's in the future. Fast food needs to make economic sense for people to want to continue to go there. Raising prices and decreasing the amount of food that one gets is not a great strategy if you want to keep your long-term customers. I understand times are changing and prices are going up but when you get hardly any food for the same amount you've been paying or the price increases, it just doesn't make sense anymore. I'm disappointed to say the least and will keep Twister's on the back burner for the foreseeable future.

Then they constantly bring the order to the cars behind the cars in front so you have to wait and wait for the cars in front of you to be served so you can leave. These folks are always my first choice but if there is any line at all I just pull around and go to McDonalds where I know I won't grow a full beard waiting to get my order.

The room is kept clean by a laser-focused staff who display the effectiveness of Indy pit crews. The owner is on-site and working shoulder-to-shoulder wherever needed. . The drive-through lanes show exactly why this corporation's business model is studied in universities. Lord, but it's chaos even during the tail end of lunch rush. Not because of anything anyone is doing wrong, simply because it's so popular. There are people EVERYWHERE. Parking is hard to get, and you have to approach from odd angles because the drive-through is so popular that it affects local traffic. And, sadly, not all the customers share the same idea of the civility that is the hallmark of this chain: my chair was rocked by two sets of rotten kids (whose mothers were with them) in the booth behind me (cleaned in a flash after the first bunch left by the amazing Chick-fil-A staff). Oy. It's hard not to give the place four stars because everything was so well done - my kudos to the owner, management and staff - but this late-lunch visit only rates an "okay" because the super-popular place was such a madhouse. Frankly, it convinced me to never return anywhere near a mealtime.
