The service is the best part of this restaurant, the staff is so nice, welcoming and attentive. I ordered a poke bowl, blue fin tartare, oysters on the 1/2 shell, and calamari with fries. The calamari was a steak cut into strips instead of thin rings and it was soooo gooood. The best calamari I've ever had and the fries were thin and crispy. The poke bowl was surprisingly filling and the fish quality wasn't bad. The oysters were fresh and a good medium size. The bluefin tuna carpaccio was mediocre and had kind of a fishy taste. They have a few beers on tap, I forgot what I ordered but I had one Japanese beer and one IPA, both were good. Absolutely terrible service. I ordered a 16 ounce soup and they took 30 minutes to serve it. The rest of the people at my table got their food 10-15 minutes before I received mine. Even worse, they served me an 8 ounce soup, half of the amount I ordered. When I asked them about it, they apologized and told me they would serve the rest of my soup later. 20 minutes passed, I received no update. When I went to ask them again, they said they wouldn't give it to me because they served it to someone else. I have the receipt and they still would not serve it to me. Really nice small local spot for great seafood and atmosphere. Been here a few times and this time after trying the wild king salmon it deserves a review. Good selection of beers and wine, friendly staff and amazing view of the harbor in Newport. Reggae music and warm environment when it's cold outside. Garlic fries and shishito peppers are also very good, happy hour specials are a bonus if you come in time. The salmon is melt in your mouth buttery/lemony goodness and just enough but not too much. Good spot and really nice when all of the tourists are not in town. Sometimes it is packed but obviously it is not their fault; the harbor cruises unloading after a voyage can be a bit much. It's good food but the portions used to be bigger when they first opened. Still good though. We still hit it up when at the beach. read more

Located in Newport's very own Rodeo Drive. A photo obsessed persons playground. Lido is a beautiful place to walk around. There are several restaurants, little boutiques, and a coffee shop. There's fireplaces and lots of outdoor seating. We ordered the scallops w/wasabi, salmon w/blood orange, and fish & chips. Excellent portions, superb flavors, and well-prepared, all for a decent price. Everything is wild caught here, according to a staff member. The scallops and salmon were phenomenal. I did wish for more of the blood orange with my salmon because it was delicious. The beer battered fish was okay, it was chewy and over-cooked because it didn't melt in your mouth as it should have. I really want to give this place 5 stars, but I can't. My aunt immediately saw the mistake the cashier made on our order and went back to correct it. The cashier also told us everything under the special menu is $18, but the scallops were $22. She needs to get her facts in order because not everyone's going to be placid. Food was okay at best, we had a half dozen oysters they tasted dirty. My boyfriend had the lobster roll, we had calamari and fish and chips. Everything tasted microwaved, but that wasn't even the worst part. We sat down at 345 pm on a Friday there were two other couples and 16 empty chairs, I moved one to place my purse on. Rather than putting it on the dirty ocean dock....and the manager Joel lost his noddle on us. Yelled at me for taking an empty chair and how dare I do so for my purse. We spent over $100 on microwaved seafood to be yelled at for something so ridiculous was so off putting. Won't be back. read more

Incredible fish! Fresh, Local, Sustainable is the feel. Love this place. It's the best find in Lido Marina Village with local fresh caught fish and local beers. The location is perfect, with an open air feel and a bar overlooking the Newport Beach Marina. Grub on some fresh fish and chips and enjoy a beer while watching people paddle board and go out on Duffy boats. You may also see some celebrities walk by, coming from Nobu. Love this spot! Been a regular here since they opened last July! The food, service, and view are all great! Different menu than bear flag, but everything I've had is really fresh and flavorful. They rotate the menu too, which I like. They also have some non fish items. Drink wise- they are still expanding on this. I wish there was more selection, but the selection is good at least! The service- ALWAYS a 12/10!! I love all of the staff. I actually come in just to say hi to Valerie. She is great. Holy cowwww this place was amazing. Came here for dinner with my parents and we all fell in love. My dad and I shared a lobster roll, ahi poke, and salmon crudo and we each got a local IPA. My wife brought me here for my birthday because she read that this restaurant had good oysters. We were disappointed to find out that they were not serving them. We decided to eat here anyway since we drove all the way out here. I got the fish and clam chowder and grilled swordfish and my wife got the fish and chips. The swordfish was overcooked and I didn't taste much seasoning aside from the char and a tiny bit of salt. I had a side of garlic parmesan fries, but I actually liked their regular cajun seasoned fries that my wife got better. The chowder was good since they included chunks of seafood, but the flavor wasn't anything spectacular. My wife's fish and chips were fried really well, but the fish was also dry. My beer was spilled as soon as I sat down with it and they refused to provide a refill. Not that they had any obligation to replace it, but it would have been nice customer service. Calamari- Batter was great. Same consistency as the batter they used for the fish and chips. The calamari are thick slices. There's no other parts of the squid. Like the tentacles. Personally I prefer a variety. However for those that love only the meaty part of the squid, then you definitely gotta try their calamari. Lobster roll- I was so excited to try the lobster roll. Where do I begin. I've personally had better. The lobster meat was a little dry. Bread was soft and I enjoy the char on the outside. Taste wise it was okay. Keep in mind, the roll is 22 bucks. This is my first time eating here i was very excited to try the fish &chips . We sat outside facing the water . They have a long communal table with metal chairs with a wonderful view of Newport Harbor. Unfortunately the whole section of the communal table was full of dirty plates and cups looks looked like they were short staffed very messy . Our food arrived 25 min later the fish and chips were nice and hot and very crunchy nice batter but lacked seasoning. The fries were on point ! The only disappointment was the lobster roll . It should of been called roll with side of bit and pieces of lobster. How disappointing for my husband not even any fillers like a slaw salad . After our food arrived no one came to see if we needed anything else as we wanted to order more wine and beer and the Valentines dessert special. We got tired of waiting and left . We visit circle hook about 3 times a month. It is definitely our go-to. Delicious food, beautiful food, great ambiance, and super friendly staff. Some of the best grilled salmon I've had - and I eat grilled salmon somewhat often. We always order fish & chips, their poke bowl (always so fresh & delicious), seafood chowder (not too creamy, one of the best seafood chowders I've had) and the Thai coconut clams & mussels which come in a curry sauce. The clams & mussels are great for sharing! My stomach is growling writing this review. I've also had the chef's tataki which is light and delicious. I've never tried the lobster roll but a friend did. If any dish might need some improvement, it might be this one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more
