Missing Circle B Ranch!! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary weekend here during Covid and I've been meaning to write a review. Circle B Ranch is located in Santa Barbara but it feels like we were in a whole different state. We stayed in one of they private cabins, which was a very large cabin. They don't have t.v's in the cabin's which wasn't a problem at all because there is so much to do!! Our stay included breakfast and dinner. We got a chance to meet the owners and they were such nice people. They gave my husband and I a free bottle of wine for our anniversary, which was such in unexpected surprise!! The food was delicious and Filling. They homemade margaritas were strong, but great! The pool, jacuzzi, game room were all so fun, But what I truly enjoyed was the horseback riding! It was so nice to be able to go explore the ranch on a horse. Very lovely place with lovely people! I can't recommend it enough.

This hotel is situated in a beautiful location in the woodsy area above Refugio State Beach, featuring running rivers and waterfalls. The rooms are nicely updated and comfortable. The pool is great, and the staff is friendly. We also enjoyed the horseback riding, which offered amazing views. However, I cannot give a higher rating due to a few issues. The food quality was disappointing, and the hotel knew in advance that the electricity would be out for an entire day during our stay. Despite this, they didn't inform us beforehand or offer a discount for the inconvenience. Overall, while the location and amenities are excellent, the lack of communication and poor food quality affected our experience.

    Ocean view at the top!

Highly recommend circle bar b! We had the best time! Really feels like a family business because it is! Beautiful grounds, lovely staff and we even met the owner who we chatted with for a bit! My 9 year old nephew, husband and brother in law were newbies to riding and felt totally comfortable and smiling the whole time. Perfect birthday adventure. Thanks!! We'll be back!

What a wonderful experience ! Such a beautiful place, and very welcoming and warm people. There are about 50 horses that live at the ranch, and they also have cabins for you to stay in. Has a pool, and hot tub, and the views on the mountains on horseback are like no other! Thank you for such a pleasant ride ! Definitely recommend the 1 1/2 hour tour.

We went on a 2.5 hour private ride with Jonny. He was very knowledgeable and had lots of stories. The views are beautiful and quite. We saw the ocean once we were higher up. Our two horses were perfect for us. We highly recommend and would definitely come back.

Came here this past Sunday and I have to say it was one hell of an experience. Enjoyed every min of it especially with our tour guy jimmy entertained everyone while on these beautiful trails. I will definitely come back again maybe with a longer ride time to see what other beautiful scenery they have on their ranch. Everyone was so kind and helpful here thank you Circle bar ranch for an amazing experience :)

Loved this place! Perfect for nice date, my boyfriend and I came out for my birthday. The view was amazing! 2 hour horse ride. Nick was our guide through it all, and honestly made my birthday so more enjoyable! Very personable guy, very sweet and patient, great guide. Would definitely come back again! Ronnie at the front desk was very welcoming, everything about this ranch was remarkable. Thanks for having us, we'll be back for sure. Ps... the weather was absolutely perfect, not to mention the views were incredible.. couldn't get any better than this.

Highly recommend! We went for my friends bachelorette party and had a great time! All the cowboys were very friendly and genuinely seem to want you to have a good time. The views were amazing!

We were spending a week travelling through California (we are from Australia) and at the last minute decided we wanted to find somewhere to experience a ranch and horseriding in the hills. We found Circle Bar B ranch and they were super helpful from the word go. We stayed one night and, being off season, it was very peaceful and quiet. The staff were very welcoming on arrival offering a welcome drink and friendly tour. We slept super well in the very generous sized ranch room. The best bit was the half day trail ride with our guide and true cowboy Randy. It was just what we were after - fun stories, experiencing the nature and views across to the ocean on horseback. The horses were amazing - well looked after and cared for and they matched us up well - me being a more experience rider than my hubby but we all had a great time indeed. Randy was excellent and it truly was a unique experience. I'd highly recommend it. So close to Santa Barbara but other sites around.

The perfect place for a peaceful escape. We had the best time riding with Jimmy! Jack kept us laughing and Jeremy was very welcoming at the bar. We'd hang out with these guys all day if they let us For reference this place is a ranch a very nice ranch but still a RANCH. If you have a hard time with getting a little dirty or straying away from your cell phone, internet, social media...you might have a hard time. The cabin exceeded our expectations. Pretty and up to date but quaint at the same time. We enjoyed the seating area on our front porch and the fire place was a nice touch. Oh and breakfast & dinner are included! Not going to lie we were skeptical at first but the kitchen staff does an amazing job! The grounds has a beautiful waterfall hike, pool, jacuzzi, Recreation room and area to play horse shoes 10/10 recommend and can't wait for another ride with Jimmy!!

A friend and I were looking for a restful getaway and decided to stay at the guest ranch for 4 nights in June. Right away we felt so welcomed and at home. The first evening Jimmy and his sweet dog Bella greeted us and showed us around the ranch. Jimmy was so kind and made us feel right at home. Jimmy shared stories about the ranch and told us how much he loves being able to help others experience the joy of horseback riding. Chef Julio's food was also amazing! The meals were so big and delicious. The accommodations were very clean, cozy, and relaxing. We did the 2.5 hr horseback ride and the views were beautiful. Our wrangler Johnny was friendly and very knowledgeable and helped make our ride a special memory. If you're bringing a car and want to explore around the ranch, Refugio beach, the painted caves, Santa Barbara, Solvang, and other fun day trips are all nearby! As a whole, we would definitely recommend Circle Bar B and hope to return with our family and friends in the future! Thank you everyone at Circle Bar B for making our trip so enjoyable!

Unfortunately, the experience with management completely undermined that. My husband and I originally booked a Valentine's Day weekend at FriendsInn but had to cancel last minute due to COVID. We were told we'd receive a credit and were helped over the phone the next day to rebook for April. During that call, we agreed to a small price increase (under $100) to stay at the inn, and I have a voicemail confirming that conversation. Two days before our trip, I called to confirm - only to be told they'd need to call me back. That's when we learned we were not booked at the inn at all, but instead in an ADA unit at the Bungalow, at an additional $400 cost. This was the first time we were told about either the location change or the significant price increase. We were also never informed that the inn was under construction. When I spoke with the manager, he admitted (somewhat reluctantly) that our reservation had only been entered into the system three days prior. However, because we didn't have an email confirmation, he refused to acknowledge or take responsibility for the fact that they failed to properly book what was agreed to over the phone. Instead, we were offered a 10% discount, which did little to offset a 150% price increase - and were told we had effectively been "upgraded" to a more expensive room, without our consent or prior notice. The entire situation felt dismissive and evasive. Rather than owning a clear mistake, management deflected responsibility and left us paying for it. It's disappointing, because the property itself is lovely - but based on this experience, we won't be returning.

When you combine the two, I'm sure the maintenance of the facilities is quite the task. The checkin was through Cloud beds, which meant there was absolutely no personal contact whatsoever. I checked in via a link, was given a code and viola. The motel has gone through some cosmetic restoration, but I'm not sure it's enough for a 5 star recommendation. The tub was chipped, the paint was chipped in several places and we could hear every step from our upstairs neighbors (well placed rugs or carpet may have been helpful). That being said, it was clean and reasonably priced. I'm sympathetic to the arduous task it must be to maintain an inn with the tourist and inebriated.

Especially if you're coming here expecting the old Ballard Inn. This is not the same Ballard Inn of yore. EVERYTHING has changed! -first of all they used to welcome you with a whole spread of charcuterie board with both meats and cheeses. And a whole line up of many different wines. Now, they only have one small plate of a few cheeses and fruits and a couple of wines that are not even checked on frequently to replace. Also, the welcome champagne is only given to you if you specifically ask for it. -instead of the usual chocolate chip cookie that's placed on your bed to welcome you. It is now just in a jar in the lobby. -They used to turn down the bed for you when you got back to your room at night. The only thing turned down now is their neglectful hospitality. -and don't get me started on the breakfast. It used to be that you would get a menu with a whole bunch of items on it, and you can order as many items as you want and it's all included. Now all you get is a small selection of continental items. And they give you one hot item which is the same for everyone, and it was a very mediocre breakfast sandwich. I am appalled that a place that charges SO much treats you this way. What are you paying for? Just the ambiance and to sleep there? They killed 3/4ths of the Ballard experience. But wait, there's more. Their fine dining restaurant isn't there anymore, and you have to have dinner elsewhere. I am so glad I paid the weekly deal and didn't pay the obscene amount of money they charge for the holidays. This was so not worth the money I paid. I miss the old Ballard Inn!
