Holy! I have lived in Kona for the past few years and I don't know why I have not been here already. Probably one of the best restaurants on this island. Was recommended by someone we met at the bar and this place did not disappoint! We got the ponzenella salad and the burrata with focaccia bread to start. We dug in before we could even snap a pic, it was delicious!! For our entree, we shared a cioppino with octopus. The octopus was cooked perfectly and was such a highlight of our trip. We heard about this restaurant from a local family. We arrived for breakfast and we're seated at a nice table outside. Our server was one of the owners, Claudia, who is the wife of Gino, the other owner/chef. She sat down at our booth, which was a nice personal touch and introduced the specials and explained how many of the food and drinks were made. Everything made from scratch and hand crafted! My wife ordered the lemongrass lemonade and my boys ordered hot chocolate (made from homemade ganache). For breakfast I had the focaccia, my wife had the breakfast burrito, and the kiddos split the ham/cheese and Nutella croissants. All the food was absolutely amazing, fresh, and well balanced. Most every restaurant makes scrambled eggs the wrong way, (rubbery). You can tell the eggs were made the correct way with cream and butter as they were light and fluffy. On the way out I ordered a tarot latte to go which had a wonderful coconut flavor. We were treated like family the whole time and truly loved our experience. We will be back to try lunch some day. We even swore that we will never come back to the Big Island because lack of good food. An amazing find. One of the best food I have ever tasted in the entire world. Having traveled all over the world from Italy to Mykonos and living in Los Angeles there are so many great dining places I have been exposed to and this little gem is a great place. The food is exquisitely fresh and the flavor and texture of freshness comes with each bites. The clams were sweet and cooked to perfections. The octopus was soft and again cooked to perfections. The langoustine (shrimp) was sweet and the meat simply melts in your mouth. Oh the lobster was divine too. My girlfriend was not in the mood for such a robust meal in the morning but once she had a bite, she couldn't stop. Claudia and Gino were so kind to give our 5 yo an apple and tangerines since his palate has not developed. It is a gem of a place. Don't miss out. I can't wait to return for their off the menu's cioppinos. The meatballs were so yummy as they just were moist and juicy but not crumpy like other meatballs. Extraordinary flavors and experience, Cipriano's is not to be missed. Our meal began with the hamachi and octopus ceviche. The ingredients were extremely fresh and arrived chilled and refreshing. The tangy citrus juice balanced with the smooth guacamole dabs to carry the soft texture of the tender fish and octopus into appetizer heaven. The chosen main course consisted of two plates: the four cheese ravioli and the lobster ravioli. Both were rich, sumptuous, full of flavor, and simply divine. The warm cream sauce covering the ravioli was begging to be sopped up by toasty focaccia straight from the oven, leaving our plates clean by the end. The last time I remember pasta this flavorful was on a trip to Italy years ago. To finish, we selected both tiramisu and the lilikoi mousse with cannoli, requiring a few sips of our spritzer to cleanse the palate between each. The deep, coffee and liquor flavor hiding under the surface of the cream and cake topping of the tiramisu was an indulgent discovery. The cannoli was perfectly baked, sturdy and crunchy, and ended up serving as our spoon to bring the light, fluffy mousse and fresh passion fruit juice to our eager lips. This place is amazing!!! I am gluten free and vegetarian and they are super accommodating! They have delicious gluten free pasta and gluten free chocolate almond cake. We went here on our trip to big island and knew we had to come back again the next day before our flight. Everyone is incredibly friendly, caring, and welcoming and the food is delicious. We discovered this new restaurant towards the end of our vacation and ate there everyday thereafter until we left the island. It is truly a wonderful addition to the Kohala Coast. The food is perfect. I had ravioli at 9:00 am in the morning and so glad I did....the homemade mushroom ravioli were the best I ever had...and I am Italian. The owner, Gino and Claudia are amazing! Friendly, welcoming and both amazing chefs. I highly recommend this restaurant. So happy for the island, the locals and us tourist that really needed a good restaurant in this area!! Owner Gino Cipriano made me his signature Pork Belly Sandwich, and well, it exceeded all expectations. Anything and everything on their Menu is top-end, and as some other reviewers have complained, yes there is occasional noise from nearby road traffic. But come here for the FOOD and BEVERAGE. My mother and father decided to dine here and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The food was very good and the price was as expected. The owner was very kind and took time to explain things when they had questions. Yes, the owner did ask for a nice review but this is her livelihood and we will gladly write one. There was a man who entered the restaurant without a shirt on and proceeded to terrorize the owner who then refused service to him. Please be respectful as you would any other restaurant, just because it is located on Hawaii does not mean your vacation takes priority over being mindful of someone's business. read more

The food was amazing, the drinks were refreshing and authentic while bringing in the best tastes of the islands-- Lilikoi pisco sour, anyone!? All of their food-- from the pasta to the focaccia to the seafood-- is freshly prepared, so please enjoy the beverages and the tin-art from Italy and Peru, while you wait for amazing-ness to be prepared. Claudia, the co-owner served us for brunch on Monday and was so attentive and friendly; offering suggestions and asking us our preferences for flavors as well. We were there on a quiet morning, so we enjoyed the fully covered boardwalk porch for our brunch-- and Gino, the chef and co-owner came out at the end of our meal and told us they host dinners once a month-- the inside of the restaurant is cool and calm, white walls with dark trim and dark wood floors; an elevated but complimentary ambiance to the Mediterranean-fun out of on the porch.
