Awesome hidden gem down from where we stayed. Guy definitely hustles and runs place solo, but is much faster service than most American places I've been. Food was great and pancakes were huge. Too much food to eat for one person. Only downfall is it's cash only which is not advertised other than small sign that is easy to miss unless you look on wall by grill. Cozy diner near the falls with really nice owners. Breakfast is $6-$8 with a really simple item with only four items. We ordered the bacon with eggs and potatoes, French toast, and a side of sausages. We saw the chef come back with food that he bought from a nearby store so rest assured that everything is fresh! He said yes no problem. Anyway, me and my family of 7 ordered our meals which was each like $5.99 and had a plate of pancakes to share which would come out to around $50 give or take. When we went to pay by card, he says "Oh I thought you said if we take American cash here. We don't take card." Then he tells us that everything will come out to $72 USD because of food tax, conversions, and a "foreigner tax" (I'm assuming he was joking but it came off racist especially considering he was an older bald white guy working in a diner from the civil rights era) The only good thing is that you can see the food is made fresh. The potatoes are chopped fresh and aren't frozen. However, if you are going to take advantage of tourists, then it doesn't matter how fresh the food is. This restaurant should be lucky to even have customers. The front looked run down and dirty with a guy sitting at the front with a lawn chair. Beware! Con Man! Yesterday July 4th some time between 8-9:30am. I stopped in to pick up breakfast for myself and my family. I asked about the menu and it seemed like he didn't want to serve me. He said I'm very business. I told him that I wanted take out because it's for others that weren't with me as well. At first he didn't want to do it and said I don't do take out but okay I'll do it for you. Waited about twenty minutes or so which I didn't mind. I was actually going to give him a tip because he went out of his way. However!!! I ordered the #eggs w/bacon & toast $5.99, French toast $6.99, & pancakes $6.99. (I also kept asking him for an orange juice which he never gave me). He said to me the total is $20.29. He said the price about 4-5 times. As I was looking in my purse for the money we were talking and I told him what hotel I was at (it's a rather expensive one). I was looking for a $1 or $2 coin couldn't find it. So I gave him $30. He gave me .71 cents back and I said wait you said it was $20.29. He said no $29.20. Mind you, if you do the math it comes out to be $19.97 for my food. I figured the rest was tax. He said oh because you did take out which I don't do (yet he had the boxes for) it's $1.50 added to each meal which he made it add up to $24.50. I was like why is that. He said because it costs me $50 for a bulk order of 50 take out containers. My brother actually owns a warehouse and sells this stuff which he wasn't expecting. So I know about bulk pricing and that he was feeding me a bunch of malarkey. I told him that's not true and then he said plus you got a coffee and I said no I didn't (I don't drink coffee), oh but you got an orange juice. I said I kept asking for one but you didn't give it to me. He said oh but don't forget there is 13% sales tax added. Which if you add that in would have been $26.68. He only gave me $3.25 back. I just let him have the money because he was that desperate to con a single mom who was on vacation taking care of her 2 kids and mom, out of a few dollars. I am a woman of color and unfortunately we get a bad wrap for starting drama. I didn't want any drama so arguing with this man, when he was in the wrong, would have led to drama in a different country and it was not worth it. This place is exactly why you should never judge a book by its cover. We took a cab here from the Radisson hotel. We passed about 6 breakfast buffet spots on the way, we maintained our focus on Cippy's as it received great Yelp reviews. We walked in on a Friday morning, old and dingy are so much of an understatement that I can't stress it further. No smell of bacon or sound of eggs frying @ 9am did not seem to fit. 3 older gentlemen were sitting at a table and all went silent as the 4 of us entered. We sat, one of the older gentlemen sitting, stood up and said, "coffee?", I said "2 w/ cream and 1 decaf!", he replied "we don't have decaf, coffee or tea only!", we opted for 2 coffees, 1 tea and an OJ for my daughter. We looked at the "menu", eggs with bacon, ham or sausage with or without home fries served w Italian toast were the choices. There were 4 of us, we ordered and no one started cooking. We hung out for a bit and drank our coffee and looked at the many pics of Sinatra. After a few min the guy said, "my son w to her store for sausage, he'll be back soon!" (Haha) no sooner did the son walk in, crank up the griddle and start cooking. The mother sliced, toasted and buttered beautiful Home made Italian bread. After about 15 min our egg platters came out. You get 3 sausages--they're of the white, very fatty consistency (different than typical American breakfast sausage) which I do like personally. Well, nothing amazing, but definitely far better than cardboard crap you get at Tim Horton's, and given the near-free cost, 5.5/10. 2. Pancakes with Maple Syrup C$4.95: Pretty standard pancakes. Tastes home-like and good. Comes heavily buttered, which I like. Unfortunately, unlike what the title says, they don't give you "maple syrup"--I forgot what it said exactly on the sealed single-serve container, but something to the effect of "breakfast pancake sauce." I was randomly looking for a breakfast place with my girl one morning when we were on vacation at Niagara. Found this hidden gem of a place on yelp so we decided to check it out. Didn't really expect anything special at first, but after we were served the most delicious breakfast sausage platter ever, we knew right away this is a must-visit spot if anyone is ever visiting Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. The bread was nicely toasted and generously buttered, the coffee refills were quick and prompt and the service was warm and welcoming. We planned to eat here for breakfast since we were in the area and reviews were good. Place opens at 7am so we got there after 8am. I assume he was the owner but an older gentlemen was sitting inside said he was waiting for 'his girls' so he couldn't serve us. I say fire your girls because their late for work.
