We have done multiple escape rooms before and decided to try Cipher Seeker! The layout of the rooms is a little older and not as advanced as some of our other rooms, but none the less we still enjoyed it! We did their Framed room and had a great time! We do not recommend this to people who are new to escape rooms as we struggled at some points and only got out with a few minutes to spare. We enjoyed the clues and the layout of the room and the different puzzles they offered. We felt some of the clues didn't flow in order and it's important to make a pile of what you already used, vs what you still need to use in order to not get confused. We received hints when we didn't ask, but we believe this was to keep us on track to succeed which we did appreciate because we like to be successful when doing escape rooms! We do not recommend more than 4 -6 people as the room isn't that big. Overall we recommend Cipher Seeker and we enjoyed our time here! read more

A nice experience! We got a Groupon which was only good on the defcon room which has a 40 percent success rate. They were very accommodating about closing off the room for us. This escape room was a little different than others we'd been to, as the game master gave clues without you asking for them; it helped move things along though it would have been interesting to see if we could have completed the challenge that way. It was also more nonlinear and you didn't start with a clue. There were also a few props that weren't well maintained so then became trickier than it should have been. This is a fun time if you've never been to an escape room. The actual place is a bit of a maze to get to and the parking seemed like it could get somewhat limited. read more

My son, his girl friend, and I experienced the FRAMED, It was great. The room was small. But, everything was Locked. Your objective was to get the clues. But, to get the clues you had to find a way to unlock the locks to Start unraveling who did it, with what. You're given 1 hour. At first we thought that's way too much time, no, we missed it by 30 seconds. read more

Had a groupon and decided to try this escape room with my brother. We have done multiple escape rooms in the past so this wasn't our first time. I get that a lot of people don't really do escape rooms and I would highly recommend this for first timers. The room we did was called defcon. The premise is that you have to save the world from missiles. It was a rather simple room that doesn't have the flashy technology and special effects others would have. The room was also small so I think it's better for a smaller group. The game was also heavy on locks even the ones that they have at your old high school locker. I would have rather had locks that are more enter the number or letters. I did like that we could reserve the room just for two without having to pay extra to fill the spots. The game master was also a really nice guy and helped out. I recommend doing it if it's your first time. I like that it's a local establishment run locally so I'll give it 4 read more

I had my daughter's 10th birthday party last Saturday at Cipher. Wow, what an incredible experience. We had 10 kids and they all had so much fun! It was a great experience for all the kids. Dave was sooooo nice. He helped them if they get stuck and they actually made it out. He made the whole party so easy for us. He makes you feel so comfortable like you know him for years. We went here for my son's birthday celebration where he invited some of his close friends. The owner was really cool, and we managed to escape in time! Considering we were with a group of kids between the ages of 7 and 15, the game was challenging but not too hard so that the kids had a chance to solve the clues with some guidance from the parents. read more

If there was a word to describe my experience at this fine establishment, it would be amazing. The staff was kind and respectful to any question or concerns we had. The rooms are set up to think on your feet, utilizing teamwork to decipher your logical escape. The time flies as you analyze all the pieces of the puzzle amongst you that aren't always obvious. The pressure intensifies as the clock ticks the final 5 minutes of inevitable defeat. But as adrenaline surges throughout your body, you and your chosen team put the pieces together and escape. Had my 12 year old daughters bday party there today with 9 of her friends- Defcon room- they had the best time- my wife and I were able to watch from the cameras set up in another room- they loved it!!!!! Dave the manager/ owner was fantastic and super friendly and helpful-had tables and balloons and everything we needed and more- highly recommend- she says she wants to go back for her party next year. All the girls loved it and were given just the right amount of help when they got stuck- you will not be disappointed! read more

My little brother wanted to have his 7th birthday at an escape room and I was pleased to discover one so close by. I read great things about Cipher Seeker and after a successful 7th birthday party this afternoon, I'm happy to add my five stars to the list! This is a local, family owned business I am proud to support. The level of customer service Dave provided was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. I worked with him to reserve this party and I honestly wasn't expecting such an accommodating response given the age of this group. However, Dave welcomed us with delighted enthusiasm and was just an all around pleasure to work with. As for the room itself - we chose the "easiest" of the three and our challenge was to stop a nuclear missile from ending the world. It was definitely not easy! But we got by on quite a few personalized clues from Dave and saved the world. The kids got a kick out that and it was a really nice touch. Good escape room. Did the easy one, Defcon 1 with three generations of our family. Everyone really enjoyed it. We got out with five minutes to spare and that was with plenty of help, so even the easy room isn't so easy! Good fun! read more

I visited the Cipher Seeker escape room today with my family. The manager/owner Dave was very nice and accommodating to fit us in without a reservation. The location was convenient with a lot of available parking. The suite in the building was clean and well set up. We played the Graveyard Inlet game. I liked how we were given clues via a computer monitor. It seemed less like getting "cheats" and more part of the game experience. Many of the puzzles were very clever. I would have liked to have a few more physical tasks to complete, but that won't keep me from coming back. I plan on trying the Framed game next month! 8/19/17 - Increased stars from 4 to 5 after returning to do the Framed room. We had a GREAT time. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. There was a great mix of electronics / tech to up the quality of the experience. There were doors, drawers, and other hidden compartments that you have figure out how to open without a traditional lock. I won't say anything more... I am looking so forward to the new room in the fall! read more

This is the best escape room facility my family have tried in NYC and NJ. My family and I have done all 3 rooms. My family's favorite room is Framed. What a great experience! I hosted my daughter's 11th birthday here with 10 young ladies on a Friday evening. Cipher Seeker's couldn't be more accommodating. We were all first time escape-room-ies so we were told the Defcon room would be the most appropriate option. The girls had a blast! The room was appropriately challenging with extra clues given when we were stuck. The hour flew by! We can't wait to come back and experience new escape room situations as we were told that they will be changing up the rooms about every six moths or so... I highly recommend this spot! I have been to many escape rooms around the NJ/NY and even NC area. Out of all this is not the best. In order to solve these rooms you need many clues from the eyes in the sky aka the owner. I cannot imagine solving the room without getting any clues. After beating two of three rooms there's no sense of accomplishment because you need to be walked through many of the clues. There are better places out there in the area for a slightly longer drive. Put some gas in the tank and get going. read more
