Unfortunately, just two weeks later, a noticeable black blob appeared on the new screen near the Dynamic Island. This looks like OLED screen bleed or a defect. The phone has remained in a case with a screen protector the entire time and has not been dropped, bumped, or otherwise mishandled. Given the timing (only 2 weeks after installation) and the specific location of the spot, this issue is almost certainly the result of either a defective replacement screen or a problem during installation (such as trapped dust, adhesive, or pressure damage). It is not consistent with normal use or accidental damage. I offered to bring the phone in so they could inspect it in person, but they declined and immediately dismissed the warranty claim without examination. While I understand repairs aren't perfect, I'm disappointed they are unwilling to stand behind their work and honor the warranty on what is clearly a post-repair defect. I went from a satisfied customer who would have returned and recommended them to someone who can no longer do so. Potential customers should be aware that warranty support may not be reliable here. EDIT: Contrary to the response below the phone was never physically inspected. Rather, the response was based on a set of photos sent showing the issue which, alone, would be virtually impossible to come to a conclusion of physical damage versus defective product. As a customer, you are in a no win situation here as no matter what happens they are going to blame you and not the manufacturer or installation for the problem.

Several additional weeks went by and I called again with the same response, and then once more a few weeks later- a total of 2 months of wait time without any progress or evidence that anything was done at all. I eventually gave up and got my laptop back myself to look at. Googling my error messages indicated that my RAM was faulty, and after replacing the RAM (a 15-minute procedure), my laptop works fine. It took me ~30 minutes of total active time to troubleshoot and solve this problem that I had previously waited 2 months for the owner to fix. I'd guess that Alex was overcommitted with fixing other machines to focus on mine, which is fine if he told me a realistic estimate (i.e. "I'm really busy right now, but check back in a month and I'll give you an update). Instead I got drip-fed inaccurate timeline estimates. Overall, I find it difficult to reccomend going to this business to get your problem fixed unless you have a really easy software issue to diagnose/fix on the spot.

Pros: --They recovered 100% of my irreplaceable data. --They shipped the data on a new hard drive directly to my house, and the shipping time was fast. --They have a 10% student discount. --Their online document management system makes it easy to keep track of what you have agreed to/what their policies are as you're going along. --Due to their mistake, they ended up sending me a new hard drive for free. They usually charge for this. Cons: --After they sent the data to me, they e-mailed me basically begging for positive reviews. They offered a $5 Starbucks gift card if I would review them on Google Pages. --Your device must be shipped from the drop-off location, downtown, to a repair lab somewhere "In Chicago." Versus a recovery company that has you bring your device directly to the lab (ACE recovery in Chicago does this), this might add to your wait time for a diagnosis. --Communication was sometimes slow. I waited and waited for their services and nobody reached out. I was told it would take 4 weeks to find out the status of my recovery... almost 3 MONTHS later of waiting I decided to reach out to them directly. What was strange is that when they FINALLY responded it just felt like they had kind of forgotten about my Mac (that I sent in months ago) for repair and seemed to kind of play it off like they had been working diligently and "trying methods" the entire time. (Seems to me like they just completely forgot) Sure enough, after about 2 days (ironically AFTER I reached out) the tech let me know that my data couldn't be recovered. They then asked if I'd like to "recycle" the "scrap metal" (are you kidding?) or pay a shipment fee to get my "scrap metal" back. I ended up shipping it back. After a shipment fee and an incredibly long wait, I got my Mac and it looked EXACTLY the same as when I sent it in. (Incredibly WEIRD) - Something told me to try to boot it up. I booted it up and it was literally NO different from when I first sent it. After being told I couldn't ever use it again, and here I am, typing this review on the VERY SAME MAC THAT I SENT IN.
