Tips: - Collect Scene+ points when you buy your movie tickets, food, and drinks either through the app or at this theatre. - The VIP food service is cool. When you're ready to place an order, wave at one of the staff members who will come to you to take your order. I have visited the Shops at Pickering City Centre (it's Pickering Town Centre's rebranded name) a couple of times recently. I noticed this Cineplex nearby. I had never seen a movie here until last Saturday. I decided to see Michael in a VIP movie theatre. I have a surplus of movie tickets and Cineplex gift cards to use. I felt that using my gift cards for lunch would be a nice treat. I used one of my tickets to reserve a spot to see Michael. I then drove over to this theatre after running errands. The downside coming here on a Saturday is that there aren't a whole lot of open parking spaces. I saw one person drive off. I swooped in and backed my car into this spot. Otherwise, I would have had to park a lot further. Maybe coming here on a weekday would be better parking-wise. I walked into the building. Your regular cinemas are straight ahead. VIP is on the right. It felt fancy being greeted by a friendly male staffer with a pool table and pretty chandeliers behind him. He let me know that I was in VIP theatre 2, which was to my left. Nice! I walked by the bar. It was also pretty and rather posh. I needed to use the washroom. The women's is set up like the other VIP ones that I have been to. There's memorabilia everywhere. The stall that I used was clean. It was great. When I walked into theatre 2, two female staffers welcomed me. One asked if I needed any help finding my seat. It was my first time here. I gave her my seat number and she was great pointing out where it was. She also said to wave at her if I wanted anything to eat or drink from the VIP menu. I looked at it. I immediately knew what I wanted. I waved at them to take my order. One of them came over, who was friendly and great. My order consisted of the following: - Wagyu beef gyoza - Corn ribs - Large Diet Coke I paid with two Cineplex gift cards that were loaded digitally in my Cineplex app. I managed to use up the balance on one of them. I also earned Scene+ points for this order. Easy peasy! I got another friendly woman who first brought over my Diet Coke. It was cold and lasted for the entire duration of the movie. It was great. She came back with my food, along with wet wipes and napkins. I thanked her and had lunch. The wagyu beef gyoza were delicious. Each one had a lot of yummy filling. The wrapper was crispy. There was a lot of sauce. It had more ginger than soy going on. It was enjoyable. I loved the corn ribs. They were lightly battered and had the best seasoning. The corn was perfect. I loved them so much. I loved the recliner. I got to put up my feet to watch this movie. There's also a USB port to charge your phone if you need to. So practical! Michael, the movie about Michael Jackson, was excellent. I appreciate him even more after having watched this movie. I liked the picture quality and sound. I was fully into watching this entire flick. So good! Afterwards, I used the washroom again before I headed home. I walked by this theatre and there was a Michael Jackson cutout. It wasn't here before the show. It should have been! It's perfect to pose and take photos. I loved taking in a movie here and getting the VIP experience. The parking situation needs help on a Saturday. I should try taking in a movie on a weekday and see whether parking is better. (184) read more

This is my first time watching a movie at this Cineplex. I usually go to the ones in Markham and Richmond Hill. If I knew how comfortable the seats were I would've chosen this location more often. They have recliner seats here, making it very comfortable especially for younger kids. There's a lot of leg room, very spacious. The theater is clean and well maintained. I certainly would come back again to catch another movie. read more

This review is only on our XSCAPE experience. Small arcade area by the entrance of the theatre with an assortment of games. Difficultly levels range from easy (push a button/pull a lever without regard for anything) to more challenging (push a button on time with the screen, moving claw arms, etc.) Our recently turned 4yo has a blast here, though some of the games are still too challenging. As this is quite close to home, we've already been there 4 times in the last 2 months. The claw machine by the entrance is a good one, it has two sides to potentially play. The timed-play on the right side can give a large prize, but if that doesn't come up with anything, the left side is play-until-you-win, so you never should leave empty handed. My kiddo has redeemed a palm-sized dice, an airhead candy, and a Mario toy with the eticket credits as well on top of the claw machine wins. The venue is clean, spacious as most arcades get, and better lit than expected for a game room in a theatre. read more

Popcorn was extremely fresh, the drinks were great and the theater was clean. The customer service was perfect too. Will come back in the future. read more

This newly built Cineplex Cinema is the first VIP in Durham Region. Open to the public in June 2018, it has 11 theatres, some of which include experiences including UltraAVX and reclining D-BOX motion seats. Many, if not all the theatres have leather reclining seats as well. The VIP theatres even go one step further with more luxurious chairs, seat warmers and attached tables. They have an Xscape Entertainment Centre (aka Arcade), Conference Rooms for team building and Party rooms for birthdays. Standouts: One family focused auditorium named the 'Cineplex Clubhouse,' designed specifically for young kids. They have colourful kid friendly seating and even a jungle gym inside! Cineplex VIP - Located on the right half of the theatre, something unique is that any adult movie goers have access to the lounge and restaurant. You can play pool here, catch the game or even grab a bite while you wait for your movie's start time. They even have a separate concession for the VIP area. Everything here feels and looks super clean and new, and since it's close to home, I'll definitely be back here for my next movie night! read more

My first time at the VIP Cinema and my expectations were just blown away! The reclining seats were so comfortable, and the space was so well designed that you could see from pretty much anywhere. OK it is expensive, but that's part of the deal. Sure I will pay over $20 to watch Aladdin there, but it's an outing, it's super comfortable, it's the same pricing as other similar places, and it is a lot less money than you would spend for an uncomfortable seat at a live performance. Obviously, a night at home in your recliner with microwave popcorn and Netflix will be easier on your wallet. However, for a fun night out, and to be comfortable, and to see a really big screen, the Pickering VIP Cinema experience is worth it! read more

Movies are expensive but if you want to watch a Blockbuster or need a date night idea, this might be a good place to go. :) Plus it's a newer location so the seats actually recline back with leg rests AAAANNDDDDDD heated seats. Insane. I'm always freezing cold in a theatre and they just solved every problem ever. The food is actually not bad either! And the drink holder is insulated. My ginger beer stays frosty and ice never melts! read more

I've been a big movie fan most of my life and I've even been a member of the Columbia House Movie Club. I am the proud owner of hundreds of VHS, Beta, and DVD movies. LOL! What the heck am I going to do with them? I just never seem to find the time to go to the movies these days. Who has two to three hours to watch a movie? I still buy the occasional BluRay movie but it may take me a couple of days to watch it. Tonight was an exception. I had some free time and I was invited to join a couple of friends to see A Star is Born at the brand new Pickering VIP Cinema. Theatres have certainly changed over the years and this is one of the newest, opening only a few months ago. It's more than just a place to watch movies. There's an arcade, 11 screens with all the latest technology, 2 party rooms, a licensed lounge, and more. They sell booze! They also have reclining seats that are more comfortable than my living room. This is a nice place and it's within walking distance from home. I may just have to make more time to see movies on the big screen. BTW, the movie was excellent! Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper had incredible performances and deserve to win a few awards. read more

It was my first time visiting the Pickering VIP cinemas. The seats are nice, fully recline, are heated and also include usb chargers and a tray you can have food ordered to your seat. It is a comfortable experience. We went during the free VIP upgrade promotion. the VIP experience at the Pickering Cinema feels as though you're in your own living room but with a big screen and excellent sound system. no worries about someone taller sitting in front of you, because all of the seats are tiered. read more

Fabulous place to watch a movie. Recliner seats are so comfortable. Popcorn and drink is still outrageous priced but for a treat what the heck. Go during the week and not as busy. read more

You get ONE STAR, for the reclining seats only. Paid $27 for 2 tickets to watch Godzilla on a regular screen in reclining seats; after 10 minutes of previews they started playing the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG MOVIE in 3D. They finally stopped it, only to start playing previews AGAIN, then stopping them and fast forwarding to the movie - also in 3D. Now we had to go back and get 3D glasses. They just stopped it AGAIN, to switch back to regular screen. Not my regular theater and I won't be back. read more

One of the nicer VIP theatres to come to instead because it's newer and they offer leather reclining seats and more foot space. The aisles aren't tight so there is more room for your feet when the servers walk by delivering food to the patrons. Less crowded here also as there's less people and more ample parking. I would definitely come here again to avoid the rush. read more

Great experiences like always. Welcoming back the movies has been very refreshing. Let's keep those new releases coming please

Terrible, terrible, terrible service. The worst. Slow, inaccurate and unprofessional. We've been 3 times, not once have we gotten all we ordered. Hit another restaurant and go to a regular movie. read more

A brand new VIP experience in the Durham region-the first of its kind. The cinema has excellent seats with the "full recliner" option as at other VIP theatres like Yonge and Eglinton. A few bonuses, these seats appear to have a recline function which allow you to put the footrest up while still being upright, as opposed to a lounger style (which is also possible for a further recline). This, in my opinion, gives you slightly more control over the seat. A few other interesting nuances such as a seat warmer button (not seen anywhere else) which would come in handy during the winter season. Finally, a USB charging port! Granted you shouldn't be using your phone during the movie, but it is still a great feature to have. I have taken one star off because there are a few growing pains with staff just learning the system and getting used to what the VIP ordering experience should be like. Additionally, since the theatre is quite new, ventilation issues should be addressed (it was quite stuffy in ours VIP#2) and the new carpet or seat smell is still quite strong. However, I have no doubt that these small things will sort themselves out in the near future as more patrons continue to visit. Will definitely return for a special movie going experience. read more
