Went here tonight for the new Superman movie. definitely a hidden gem to the GTA since it's so far out north, but well worth the drive especially at night when there's no traffic. The parking spots are well organized, but wish there was more clear signage around the lot for getting in and out. My only tips if you're planning on going here is: 1. This is my first ever Drive-In movie experience and I had a lot of fun! Tuesday double header for $8 is a steal if you do want to watch 2 movies back to back. For long weekender, they are showing Triple headers, that would certainly be a long night. I prefer staying inside the car since even after I sprayed myself with mosquito repellent, I still got a bite or 2. Will never order from their concession stand again. We arrived at Stardust an hour and a half before our movie started, yet still ended up missing the beginning of our first movie as it took that long to order food at the concession stand. Many other people exited the lineup for food and beverages as they were losing patience. Complete lack of organization and management. Many employees were standing around and watching as others bagged popcorn or served customers. Stardust prohibits outside food and beverages but waiting an hour and a half at their concession stand is absolutely outrageous. read more

I wish I could give the drive in 4.5 stars because I really do have a nice time every time I go and the things I don't love aren't worthy of a full star removal. That said, the stardust drive-in is such a great evening activity, especially through Covid. Nothing says safe like staying in a car and not having to worry about who is near you. However, don't forget your masks! You need them to go inside for refreshments or to use the washroom. I would definitely recommend going inside to check out the really cool retro decor! Speaking of refreshments, that's where I took off my theoretical half star. The prices are pretty close to what you'd see at a standard theatre (think $5/$6 for a medium popcorn). I opted for the nachos, and unfortunately they were really stale. They come with cheese sauce and salsa. The accoutrements were exactly what you'd expect, so nothing more to say about them. Since outside food and drink isn't allowed, I'd recommend having a big dinner before coming instead of the available snacks. There are 3 screens. During the pre-show it does say that you're not allowed to hop screens between films, but it was pretty quiet both times I went recently so I don't think they'd be too worried but I'm also not saying you should break the rules. Either way, it's really fun to watch on the big screen under the stars! They have a pretty diverse offering of movies and they group them together in a way that makes sense. You'll feel a huge sense of nostalgia coming here and they have pre-film and intermission videos that are retro and super fun! Always a great time! read more

Very cool experience if you're looking to switch up your typical movie experience. Went for the Canada Day long weekend where it was a triple header; so very worth the $13 charge for all 3 movies! The snack are also decently affordable. Cheaper than the typical movie theatre cost. Poutine is amazing, Popcorn was standard, Burger was decent, but I don't recommend the Pretzel, super hard to bite into it. Also, the slushys are great for those hot nights! It was interesting to see the different set-ups people had. The standard was to sit in your front seats as per usual, but then a couple people with SUV's backed their car in to set-up a bed in their trunk. A few also set up lawn chairs on the ground or in the back of their pick-up which was kinda cool. Pro-tip: If the car in front of you has a hatchback and the door is blocking your view, you can tell one of the staff walking around and they'll tie the door down with string so it's a bit lower and doesn't block your view. I also recommend checking the weather before you go! I went on one of the hottest days of the year, so sitting in tons of mosquitos with extreme heat was not the most comfortable situation.... Overall, check it out! Worth the money and it makes for a fun night! read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to watch the Avengers: Endgame and I never been to a drive-in theater before. The endgame started at 8:40pm, we arrived around 8pm to grab a good parking space with a nice view of the screen. We parked right dead center of the screen. For two people, it cost about 26.00 which wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed the drive in very much. We brought blankets, pillows and cuddled in the car. There was nobody kicking our seats and we could control the volume of the station. The only thing that I did not like was the weather condition. With the crazy weather fluctuating, it was cold outside and the car was warm so it kept fogging up our view of the screen. Every half an hour or so, we would have to wipe the windshield. Besides the weather condition that we cannot control, I enjoyed it very much. Would definitely come back again with lawn chairs and a radio to save the car battery. Go here at least once every few months, ever since having discovered this drive in theatre 3 years ago. Love the nostalgic old style commercials before playing your double or TRIPLE feature films. I go to Cineplex plenty, but when I feel like getting best bang for my buck, then I head right here. Plus, I get to bring my dog. Tip: Get their popcorn. What a blast from the past coming here over the weekend was. I was sad that it had closed down operations for a few years but when I heard they re-opened I was looking for an opportunity to come back again as soon as possible. Ok so admittedly, prior visits were less about actually watching the "movie" and more about me putting my best "moves" on a date, but for fear children might be reading this, I'll dispatch with reliving my glory days and go on with the review. Phewwww is it getting hot in here? It's a solid vintage venue that totally plays it's old school vibe up, from the 1950/60s signage, the old school announcements and PSAs before the movie and the running of the Looney Tunes before show time, it's legit a way back play back! There are 3 screens which on any given night are running a double feature, once starting just after dusk (9:30 ish) and the second around 11:30-12. In my younger years I could have stayed up for both but now a days, yawwwwwwwwnnn, I was toast midway through the first flick. It's about $26 for 2 people on a Saturday night so standard as far as movies go in the GTA. The concessions aren't anything special, I'd venture that the cinemas have better popcorn and food, but I ate before so wasn't looking to munch. If you're not in the know, you don't need a box that hangs off your window to hear the movie, no, they simply broadcast the soundtrack over an unused radio signal, mine was 90.5 FM. Pro Tips - Don't bring outside food or drink (wink wink) - Bring a blanket for snuggling (or whatever else you have planned, naughty yelpers) - Bring bug spray bc this place is still in the sticks and the mosquitos are rampant read more

Decent drive in experience in the GTA area, especially if you don't want to go to an indoor movie theatre due to COVID-19. Got here ~40 minutes early for a sold out show and was able to get an off-centred spot close to the front. More options at the back if we didn't want to be on the side but I drive a small car and didn't want to risk a larger vehicle blocking the view. Other groups were respectful and most kept their lights/cars off the entire movie Like other drive ins, you tune in to a radio station for audio (they tell you when you arrive which frequency and there's also a small sign under the screen). For my car radio, there is a little bit of static if I turn the volume up too high (this was something I had noticed during a past visit in 2018) - it's not very noticeable unless it's a quiet scene (e.g., dialogue and no background music) The line for snacks is very long - arrive early if you plan on getting food and getting back to your car in time for the beginning of the movie. Went there for my birthday! SUPER FUN (I ADVICE EVERYONE TO GO EARLY for good seats!) I loved it there. It was everything I was expecting and more. Cheap prices and cheap snacks. $6 for LARGE popcorn. My bf and I initially wanted to go to watch one movie which was Suicide Squad. They charged us $26 dollars in total for two of us ($13 for one person)...looking at the receipt we were a bit confused at first, but saw that we were actually watching THREE movies. 1) Suicide Squad, 2) War Dogs, 3) Lights Out. (A special going on) We were both totally down to binge watch since it was a Saturday. There are 15 mins of intermission between each switch of movies. There are three big screens which all rotate in various movies. So go on their website and pick your choices! It was such a fun summer activity to go with friends, family and loved ones. I did not know you were supposed to bring camping chairs which alot of people did and even blankets! But sitting in the car is obviously an option too. I mean I insisted in staying in the car hoping to stay with it's ambiance and theme". We both enjoyed it so much. Very vintage and retro absolutely what I saw in the movies and I loved how they kept it that way in their intros. It was a beautiful night we sat out in our chairs covered with a blanket. Unusual no bugs! Good sound system through the car radio. Bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks otherwise there is a snack store with lots of good things to snack on. We had both. Movie isn't a movie without buttered popcorn.... right? Went to the Stardust Drive-In last night with the family. It was the first time that any of us went to a drive-in and we all loved it! Double (that's TWO !!!) new features (Ant-man, Inside Out) for a family of six (2 adults, 4 kids) and it only costs us $30! Any other theatre would have cost us $130! Theatre is divided up into 3 lots and each screen is a assigned a radio frequency. Screens are pretty big so you can park further away and still see it. Radio reception is really good so if you have a good sound system you can really enjoy the movie. The first feature generally starts at 9:30 and second 11:30pm or so in the summer. Was a little hesitant after some reviews of staff but there were all very friendly. They ask you not to bring in food, but it's actually not bad in terms of price and quality.. They serve burgers, fries, chicken fingers, and even poutine! Theatres survive on the concession sales, so please at least respect their rules and either don't bring in food or buy from them. Also they ask you to not screen switch which is fair as it's annoying and dangerous to be driving in the dark with people walking about. The only negative thing I can say is that when we went it must of been mosquito season as they were out in full force.. Not the theatre's fault of course, but we had our lawn chairs set up during the first feature and was eaten alive.. for the second feature we ended up going back in our van with the windows up! So word of warning if you are going to sit outside during the summer, make sure you bring in tons of mosquito repellant and appropriate wear. Definitely recommend everyone try this out as it's wonderful family outing. We had so much fun that we plan to do this again soon! read more

I love going to the Drive-In to watch movies in the summer. This is my first visit to this location as we found out about it by chance. I've always gone to the other location in Oakville. The screens here are a bit smaller but it was very busy the night we went. I'd advise you to come really early as you want a good spot and if you need any refreshments the lines are quite long. They have quite a bit of refreshments available from hot dogs to nachos to pulled pork sandwiches! Since they show a couple movies one after the other the concession area stays open pretty late. They close shortly after the last movie of the night begins. Yay! When you park you can either stay in your car to watch the movie but some bring collapsible outdoor chairs for patios or camping. I'd recommend bringing some bug spray to fend off nasty little buggers. Some trucks reverse backwards and have mattresses for people to lie on which is pretty neat! Also, they have specials where you can fit as many people in a vehicle à la clown car and only pay the entrance for the vehicle. I would definitely come back again. Just have fun and hope your car battery doesn't die . read more

Doing this review a little late in the game BUT this place is old school and dope. Very well structure, organized, and perfect for a cool summer movie night. Pulling up to the ground there are mounds so your car points upwards towards the screens for a better view. People sit outside but I much rather sit inside the car because there are mosquitos and that just won't do for me. Dialling into the specific radio station will have you tuned in and listening. It's a nice change from your everyday theatres and a summer get together that everyone is always down for. Also as a crazy popcorn fan, I'll I gotta say is that the popcorn at this theatre is SO GOOD. PLUS YOU GET TO BRING YOUR DOG :D read more

What a fun summer night activity! Came here on a Saturday long weekend. It was $12 per person for 3 movies (Mission Impossible, Trainwreck and Ted 2) Which is very cheap! TIP: When you drive in the left line is cash only which goes by a lot faster. We arrived at about 8.40pm (the first movie starts at 9.30pm) There were already people there but we still got a good spot about 5 rows back. It is on a gravel parking and was a bit muddy since it rained earlier that day but it was perfectly fine. The concession line was a bit long but prices were reasonable. The bathrooms are decently clean but also builds up a line up in between movies. The screens were large enough and the fm station with the sound was really great no fuzziness. The opening preshow and in between was great as well, they had retro feeling graphics which made the experience more fun! We had our windows down and I ended up with 3 mosquito bites, but not a huge deal. Would definitely make this an annual summer thing! read more

This gem of a Drive-In has been around longer than I can remember, although I do believe it closed down for a time a few years ago until it changed hands and opened under the current name. That said, I've been a sporadic patron for the last 30+ years (I'm not much of a movie goer, so once or twice a year at the most is my limit), and I've always enjoyed the experience. When I do decide to go, I usually try to make the best of it. In my opinion it pays to get there early. I will often aim for a couple of hours before dark for a few reasons: To avoid the lineup to get in, to get a good spot to see the screen, and to just hang out. We often take some games or sporting equipment and just have some fun. Last time it was bocce ball in the play park. The time before that it was a folding table and board games. I can't remember the exact cost, but I think it was around $13 a person. It may have been an extra buck because it was a long weekend and they were showing 3 movies. Not that I could stay awake for all of them. It's still nice that they do the "all nighters" though, and there were still lots of people left when we took off after the second movie. I don't often buy much from the snack bar, but I've got to say that the food is half decent, and pricing is surprisingly reasonable. The one thing that gets on my nerves a bit (and more so as I get older, so maybe I'm just getting to be a bit more intolerant - or it could be that people in general are getting more ignorant) is the constant interruptions from other patrons. This past time it felt like a never ending stream of headlights in our face, people yelling, etc. That said, I still quite enjoy the experience, and I'm sure I'll continue to take in some shows there for as long as the place remains open read more

COOL to still see it 'standing', operating in 2017.. It's challenging just to have a theatre, let alone a drive-in. It can be a long evening if you come early (better spots), too far away can be challenging, as far as movies; more about the 'experience' than the watching; drive-in lends itself to 'light' entertainment, nothing too deep (subtitles, etc :) Like many experiences, the movie/concession fun/interesting; the people can be the most challenging part. read more

Old school is new school! This nostalgic drive in puts a modern twist on watching a movie in your car. Basically pull up to a mound so your car points up towards the screen, dial into the radio station posted under the screen and your off to the races, just relax in your car, windows up or down, and watch. Most of the time there are at least two movies showing, they don't want you to switch screen between movies nor bring outside food, other than that, it pretty much self regulated. Nice change to going to a theater but sound and picture suffer as the radio signal is not the best and lights from the other cars around you go on and off disturbing the mood. Oh, and there are a few that leave lights on or step on the brakes making light shine towards you as you try to watch the screen , so be advised. read more

It's a great night out. You get to be cozy in your own vehicle and get a great view of the screen. Only issue was that some people with SUVs tried to park and open their trunks which affected the view of others. We were fine though. Key is to come early, load up on snacks and enjoy. Movies under the stars on a warm summer night? Yes please! The newly reopened drive-in, formerly North York Drive-In, is an awesome alternative choice for date night. They have three screens that show 2 movies each per showing. Without realizing it, we had come on opening night for Wolverine. It was an amazing experience! I would advise bringing some essentials for outdoor night viewing: bug spray, warm clothes, blankets and lawn chairs if you're planning on sitting outside your car. They have a concession area in the main building, that also houses the washrooms. As a 'local drive-in theatre', they ask that you purchase concessions with them instead of bringing your own to support the them. Prices are what you would expect of theatre food and beverages. Box office is cash only, and prices are reasonable - $11 for adults, and $2 for for kids 12 and under. It's free for kids 4 and under. They also have Tuesday and Thursday specials. Come super early as the lines to pay and get into the outdoor theatre is looooong, and you'd want a good spot to park your car anyway. For the 920PM screening, we arrived at 830PM and there were plenty of cars already. The wait wasn't so bad though as we got to chill out and soak in the atmosphere. read more

Great spot to enjoy with the family. I got there an hour early and I was surprised to see the amount of people that were already there. So go early if you want a good spot. I also suggest bringing garbage bags to cover your car lights. My car is a new 2020 BMW and I was not able to leave my car off and listen to the radio. Luckily the staff there was kind of enough to bring me garbage bags to cover my lights so I could keep me car on. This is a good hack for others as well, as I saw at least 4 people get their car's jumped because of their batteries dying. read more

I just got treated absolutely horribly at your drive in. Another person complained that we were taking up two spots. We had always been told that between the yellow poles was one. So we were parked with our three little sisters in chairs beside us. After the man was there for about a half hour (one spot down), he decided to yell at us for having our sisters there. He threw a fit, swearing and yelling infront of my sisters in which I got out of the car. He then started to get in my face. (A 30+ year old man with children in the face of a 21 year old girl). He called a manager and we explained that we come every week of the summer and sit like this and we've never had an issue. We spend money of tickets and atleast $15 every time at concessions. The women at the concession both literally recognize me... The woman manager got mad at me for raising my voice. (Sure I shouldn't have. I was angry. But she told me to use my inside voice when we were outside.) she gave us our money back and told us we could still stay but we had to move. At this point, my sisters have already moved and a car was in the spot we were supposedly "we were taking up", and the manager was still telling us to move! At this point my ten year old sister and my 15 year old sister who has autism were already screaming bloody murder so we just left. (Only with our $18 back btw, not with the other $25 we spent at concessions). We knew if we had stayed the other guy would have kept running his mouth and it would've ended in a fight. They looked forward to this all week and it was ruined because some a-hole and his family (in three separate cars) wanted to all be beside each other with there five dogs and their dog kennel. The manager didn't even speak to him - she made it totally one sided. To the point that another person started to stick up for us. The movie started at 9:30 and we got there at 8:00. If he and his whole family wanted to park together, why couldn't they have got there earlier? You lost your over $200 of business a month from us. I got threatened by another customer - whom you didn't even speak to. My kids got cussed in front of yet I got scalded just for raising my voice. I have a 10 year old screaming bloody murder all because someone wanted to be a b**** about a spot. You will never have my business again. Which is disappointing because it was one of my favourite places to be. Side update: called the manager, apologized for raising my voice. She didn't care, spoke down to me and then had the audacity to hang up on me. read more

We were super excited to bring out kids age 2 and 3 to the drive in until we had the worst experience. We sat waiting for the movie to start sitting on the lawn like Most of the families when I noticed my daughter has something in her mouth she found in the establishment. She was chewing on a DIME BAG. A drug bag that they left just sitting on the ground. I was not sure if it was used for marijuana or cocaine but I was furious. We immediately asked for a refund and to leave but when I was talking to the manager who was like 24 years old.. She told me it was my fault for not watching her and it was bad parenting and that I should just leave if I had a problem with it. There were police at the venue for a unrelated incident so I had to inform the police who took my side. After talking to the actual owner we finally got our money back and the owner told me to wait in the car because he didn't want the manager to know he was refunding the money. A complete waste of our time and a seriously flawed establishment and terrible customer service! I suggest going to ANY other drive in but this place. We went late September which I found to be perfect as it wasn't too cold and there were no mosquitoes! Love this place. I've been coming here with my family since I was a baby. I've never had a bad experience and have always left having had a great time and for a great price. As for the lady with the kid eating the dime bag. You are outside and there are lots of people the staff can't be constantly looking for tiny little bags of drugs. I heard so many bad things about it so Tyler and I checked it out ourselves on the last long weekend. I must say although I am happy the drive in has reopened again I will not be back to Stardust Drive-In Newmarket . It is no longer an enjoyable place to spend a nice summer night watching great movies with friends and family. The staff is not friendly and very confrontational. To start with, the staff directed us to the wrong screen. We had arrived early enough to secure a pretty good spot, but found out that we were in the wrong spot when the film started. The park pics aren't anything like the web site. The grass was overgrown and the swings weren't even up, yet. Lastly, the toilets got progressively worse, and no staff member sorted them out. There were soiled paper towels everywhere and toilets were blocked up and unusable. It was disgusting. I had hoped for so much more. We ended up leaving before the movie ended. read more
