Looking for something different to do in the city? The Jury Experience at the Royal Theatre is a…read moreunique and engaging way to spend an evening. While the event itself was relatively short, just over an hour, I found it surprisingly immersive from start to finish. We selected the trial involving a driverless car that had been involved in an accident with a cyclist, a scenario that felt both timely and thought-provoking. With the purchase of your ticket, you agree to be sworn in as a juror and are asked to make decisions just as a real jury would. The cast was excellent, with convincing performances from the judge, prosecution, defence counsel, witnesses, and other courtroom participants. Their performances helped bring the case to life and made the experience feel authentic. The evidence and data presented throughout the trial were educational and challenged the audience to think critically about emerging technology, responsibility, and decision-making. One of the highlights was the opportunity to discuss the case with fellow "jurors" seated around you. As the trial progressed, QR codes were displayed on screen, allowing audience members to participate in live polls through Mentimeter and compare their responses with the rest of the room. This interactive element really made you feel like an active participant rather than simply an audience member watching a performance. The Royal Theatre was also a great venue for the event. Its central location means there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby if you'd like to grab a drink or bite to eat before or after the show. Overall, a fun, interactive, and thought-provoking experience that's well worth checking out if you're looking for something beyond the usual night out.

Silver City Richmond Hill USED to be one of my fav theatres to see a movie, until this past weekend…read moreto see Deadpool & Wolverine with the fam. This was my first time back to these theatres- actually any movie theatre since the end of 2019 and Covid. What surprised me the most was how the lobby area has not changed at all, out dated games, cold unwelcoming entry, same self serve counter and 1 person standing at a kiosk to take your tickers before you get to the ridiculously expensive concession stand. What annoyed me the most was paying $52 for 2 kids and 2 adults and then $75 at the concession for: Combo w/ 2 regular drinks, large popcorn and 1 candy - $27.99 2 kids combos at $10.99 each (smaller trays) 1 regular popcorn at $8.75 (smaller bags) 1 pack of candy $6.77 First of all, the fact that what they call a large popcorn now is a JOKE! This same bag used to be wider and much more popcorn! Same with the regular size. No more free refills, although people were freely walking over and refilling. This is insulting considering the cost of a large drink is $6.75. I will never return to a theatre and purchase anything from the concession stand. The popcorn was stale, the pop was flat and the bags of candy, I can get those at Dollarama or Walmart for $2.50 per bag. I did expect it would be expensive, but I did not anticipate that everything had shrunk in size for drinks and popcorn. Makes sense now why it was so empty there. Not even worth it to collect Scene Points anymore. There was 10% off the concession which is a thing of the past since the program got revamped during Covid. I was really hoping that since Covid that there would be improvements considering the movie theatres took a huge hit during the lockdowns and closures. We enjoyed paying $6.99 to $24.99 ordering home premieres at home and buying our own snacks. As a family of 4 movie night was costing us under $40. At a theatre it's ridiculous to pay $125. With these prices they have made their money back tenfold. Movie was amazing, easily 5 stars for me. The only reason I gave the theatre 2 stars is I love the idea of choosing my seats in advance or when I pay there. I don't have to worry about rushing to catch a show if I pay in advance. Will I go back? Yes, fun with the fam. BUT I will be there bag in hand with my own snacks and happily seeing movies at Markham VIP because I can choose my seats in advance and not worry that if I'm late that all the good seats are gone.

The gentleman checking us in was friendly and courteous. I think he was also the one who started our movie, and cleaned up after when the movie was done XD There are no more staff selling tickets anymore; they are all done at the ticket kiosks right when you enter. The gentleman scanning the tickets also stands in the very front near the entrance doors. After you enter, you can then purchase your snacks and drinks, and play arcade games. This theatre seems to be in the middle of getting rid of their red old/dirty theatre seats - I guess it is finally time to change them! The washrooms were also tidy and clean.

SilverCity Richmond Hill - I saw this flick. Enjoyable! If you don't like blood, swearing, or death, or all three, maybe pass.

First off, if you're looking for a 10 screen, 5 showings each hour place; look elsewhere - the Roxy has only 2 screens (multiple titles alternate in showings). But "quality, not quantity" is the result. The Roxy reminded me of how a night at the movies use to be: * reasonable prices - $10 regular ($7 matinee and Tuesday's) * no price gouging concessions. I got popcorn and a drink for under $10 * intimate showing (seating for 100 or so) * old Hollywood motif in the lobby. Though the Roxy has the old Hollywood charm, the technology is not lacking. The interior is up-to-date, and it's screens & sound are on par with the big chain theaters. I applaud you Roxy as you bring charm back to the Silver Screen experience!

Went to see what could be the biggest movie of 2015 here (Star Wars, The Force Awakens). And for…read morethat experienced the good, the bad, and not so ugly. I heard this was a cool, quaint and original type cinema so was excited to see this movie in a theatre so 'raw' For starters, went for a 1pm matinee, there was a decent line of people waiting to buy tickets, there was only one attendant working the box office and even being half an hour early, and only about 10 people back, I started being concerned I would make it in, in time for the movie based on how slow the attendant was working. Positive point was the matinee was only 7$!! OK only took about 12 long minutes to get in, so there would be 18 minutes to grab concessions and a seat. Seeing the line for popcorn, decided to grab seats first, and I would venture back for snacks after a seat was acquired. Thankfully we did, as the theatre was rather full (two birthday parties) Went back to the popcorn line which was longer than when I entered the theatre, 15 minutes to showtime approximately, three people working the stand.... I know it is not rocket science to move popcorn and soda, but at points all three are serving one customer. More than once. Thankfully people were getting fed up and leaving the line due to the excessively long wait, so moved up bit by bit. I watched one person take an order, repeat it to the person who was next to them, who likely heard it as clearly as I was hearing it, who then would delegate either the popcorn or soda to the third, and fetch the other item themselves. If I did not have my five year old son with me who would not survive a movie without popcorn or drink, I would have ditched this ludicrous situation and stewed in my seat popcornless. But... Got my fresh popcorn, real butter, and soda (two orders actually) for the amazing semi low price of 22$ in a big theatre, that basically is the cost of one order. So into the theatre, one minute after 'start' and the previews had not started. I guess they knew how long the popcorn line was so they delayed the previews maybe 8 minutes. The seats were big and comfortable, semi reclining. With a fair bit of leg room. So that was a plus, and the had a seat booster for my boy, do another plus for that. The movie looked and sounded great, no 3d or imax or collosus or whatever but it was a pretty good experience. Maybe some more experienced staff when dealing with a movie this big on the first matinee of the Christmas break in opening week.. Will definitely go back for another movie, another times and maybe the overall experience will be better for for now I will only say it was alright
