First time seeing a movie in a theater, in such a long time. We had purchased our tickets online we were able to validate them with no issues. We went to the snack bar and got her popcorn and drinks prior to the movie starting. The snack bar cashier was very nice. I think there was a disconnect as far as having butter on the popcorn. We checked in at the podium to verify our tickets and which theater we would be sitting in. Our seats were great. They were in the back of the theater with easy access to the stairs. I love the reclining chairs with the swivel lap tables... Makes a big difference when trying to juggle snacks. The theater was clean. I would definitely go back to this location in the future. read more

We had a great experience, easy booking online and finding seats available. Seats were comfy reclining electric chairs, only thing I'd say they are not made for big people so you are closer together than the other theaters I wouldn't want sit that close to a stranger.. I am more thin, but can imagine someone who's not being a little tight or right ontop of you if your next to.. the movie was great great quality kiddos loved it we saw super Mario! Popcorn and refreshments available, no alcohol that I saw, popcorn was great tho, I saw some other comments about the popcorn not being so great, so I was worried because we love our theater popcorn lol, and it was great no issues what so ever! One thing I'd say is maybe wipe down ur theater seats my man had some grease from the last person. No real knocks, it's showing some signs of aging in the seating areas, but are still clean. The concessions are stocked and have more than one person present. It's like most modern movie buildings, split up smaller rooms to show more movies. Not like the huge theater type of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Plenty of parking outside and the restrooms were clean. Last weekend, we took our toddler to his first movie! I haven't been to this theater for YEARS but the special release was limited to a few theater initially. There is plenty of parking in the shared shopping center. Walking in, the lobby was much smaller than what we're used to but it still had the standard concession stand needs. I enjoyed coming to this theater for the first time on a mid-week afternoon. Cinemark Mesa 16 is located near my home at Mesa Riverview. It is sort of hidden toward the back of the shopping center near Bass Pro Shop. The theater is smaller than most, but it is nice and clean. The rows are very spacious with relaxing lounge seats. Every Tuesday at Cinemark is Discount Tuesday where they offer cheaper prices. Matinee movies are also discounted. I ordered my tickets online ahead of time to save myself from waiting in line. Cinemark Mesa 16 plays all the new movies plus some old favorites. I didn't order any food or snacks this time. I did notice on their menu that if you order an extra large popcorn, you can get a refill on the same day. read more

Had a movie night and we went to see the new M. Night Shyamalan movie, Trap. I'll hold back my thoughts on it....all I'll say is this: Deadpool is soooo great!!! I've been to this Cinemark plenty of times, but this is the first time I've selected a seat on the top row (all other seats were taken). So you are aware, if you recline back (which that's their purpose...recline) there's a half-wall right in front of you and limits the view of the screen. It was so disappointing. Outside of that, the AC was blowing, the customer service was on par, and the snacks were flowin'! Love that you can be apart of their movie club! Wish they had more choices in Az other than this location. Parking is easy, they even have EV stations to charge. I only saw 2. As you walk up there is a window to pick your movie and seats. I usually do it on the Cinemark app. Which is quick and easy. They have a great snack stand and options to choose from. The pizza is usually a hit! As my guest and I walked down the hall to check in, we were greeted by Fernando! Our theater was on the right all the way down. Once we got to our seats we reclined back and enjoyed our movie! There is a movie tray that can hold your snacks and drink. The restroom was clean and easy to find! Wish they had more movie selections playing cause I would be here every weekend. This is my favorite theatre to go to because it is not as massive as the other chains. Less people less lines comfortable seating with plenty of leg room and reclining chairs. some theatres have little tables built in to the seats arm rests and other do not. The concession stand serves both alcoholic beverages and your regular nonalcoholic. I definitely recommend joining their movie club if you go to the movies even 1 x a month because for your monthly fee you get 1 ticket, 20% off on concessions, extra tickets at discounted rates, no service fees when booking online and you earn extra points too. I love the fact that you can rent the theatres out for family functions and Birthdays, we did this 1 time and everyone loved it! The theatre is older it has a cozy been here feeling vs. a modern fresh look and I do prefer this. Bathrooms are always clean and staff is always available to help. read more

I just moved from Tucson where they have primarily Cinemark theaters in town. I'd bought the year long membership with one free movie a month and when I found out I would be living back in Phoenix again, I was so bummed that I'd be missing out on the money I'd spent but luckily we have one Cinemark here in Phoenix and it's only about 10 minutes from my apartment! Of all the Cinemarks I went to in Tucson, this one is honestly the best. I love that it still has the standard old school movie theater concession lines. I hate that school cafeteria vibe at the other locations. The large framed images of old movies and movie stars is so cool and cozy. The entrances in to every theater was so cool too. I never would've expected to see something this classic in Mesa. This might be my go-to movie spot from now on. read more

It's really fun to go out to Mesa on Saturday morning and see an opera from New York City. That's what happens at this theatre on some Saturdays. It's live from New York City, digitally piped in and it's so interesting. We saw Romeo and Juliet and it was great. We could see the audience, the backstage preparations, interviews with the performers, etc. It's not very crowded, either. I highly recommend this experience and I plan to go back in May for Madame Butterfly. read more

Cinemark has been our go-to theatre for years and we love - maybe too much? - the loungers that are quite comfy and let one enjoy the movie almost like being at home on the couch. Yep, the arm between the two seats comes up, so you can curl up and eat your popcorn :) My little dissatisfaction comes from the munchies area where you order drinks and popcorn et al. Even when crowded there is only one or sometimes two cashiers open; also, the beer pumps are never staffed, meaning it can take a long time to be served at that end of the counter. The part that does annoy me is there are always other servers/helpers (insert PC word) behind the counter, but - well, they don't ever think of helping out or opening another register ! Standing around when there's a full line, and it's ignored, is a trait in businesses that has always annoyed me: management is supposed to "think ahead"; at least that's how I was in my own work experience so maybe my expectations are too high as both a customer and management. When we got to our seats another problem: somehow the electrical cord to one of their loungers had come unplugged, and when they tilted the chair to plug it back in a bucketful of popcorn tumbled out. Seems that cleaning up only goes as far as sweeping the floors of obviously spilled-out popcorn, but nothing is actually cleaned well at the end or start of business. The ticket takers have always been amicable, thank you all, and of course, when you love movies and are in the Movie Club, the things I pointed out as annoying can be overlooked for the sake of having a good time. There's no place more cinematic than Cinemark! Cinemark has quickly become the go to movie theater in my household. You can't go wrong with recliners and assigned seating (just try not to snore during the movie). Plus, you can't beat the $5.35 Cinemark movie rewards discount prices on Tuesday. The app also makes it super convenient to order your concession ahead of time and skip the lines. You can tell this theater has been well loved, most of the seats are heavily worn and could probably use replacing. All in all, I enjoy the experience at Cinemark and look forward to Tuesday date nights with my girlfriend. read more

We went on bring your own bucket day and it was clean and the chairs were comfy. Not sure how we felt about the trays attached to the chairs. you can't fully put them away but it was still comfortable. Not sure how it would be for a larger person, thought this bc of bringing my dad here. Wonder if he'd be comfortable. Overall nice experience and good popcorn lol. This theatre is a JOKE. I pre-purchased tickets for Godzilla x Kong and also pre ordered 2 dinks, popcorn and pretzel bites with cheese. I asked for a refund on 1 of the drinks, the only have soda and I don't drink soda. I was given the pretzel bites that were cold. I took them back and asked for fresh, hot bagel bites. The manager/supervisor was not at all happy that I wasn't going to wait and she could bring it to me. Well she brought me pretzel bites that were COLD and hard. I paid $60 for food and tickets. My expectation was high and it's far from that. Pretty sad, our 1st time here and our last. This theatre is old. Don't purchase tickets for this theatre, go to Harkins or AMC. read more

I am usually a loyal Harkins movie-goer but I had some friends who wanted to meet up to see a movie at this Cinemark and it was a very pleasant experience overall! The halls of this theater definitely have a bit of an older and more classic feel as opposed to some of the newer and more modern ones but I enjoyed the feelings of nostalgia that it evoked. The staff were friendly and the reclining seats were very comfortable but the bathrooms were the only thing that did not seem super well tended to. Overall a good experience and I would definitely consider coming back again to see another movie here. read more

The recliners in the theaters are extremely uncomfortable, and the snack bar is always out of butter for the popcorn. We've had several instances where the recliner was broken in one way or another. My husband has MS, so that impacts his experience tremendously. It's disappointing that nothing is being done to fix these issues. I'd go 3.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't offer that option. Previously, I would have rated this Cinemark as 4.5. Before the pandemic, Cinemark was our go to theater. So when the Batman was released, we decided to go see it at the Dobson & Rio Cinemark. We pre-purchased our tickets and thought nothing of the increased number of seats when we selected ours. When we arrived to discover the comfortable seating that Cinemark was known for had been removed, there was disappointment. While it is nothing like the stadium seating with the fake padding that some other chains use, the beloved oversized recliner style seats were no more. The attached trays were not as convenient as one would think. When folded out, anything taller than a couple of inches obstructed the view of the screen. I could not find a way to lower the tray altogether. While we still prefer Cinemark to other theaters with regard to seating, the new Cinemark seats are in *no way* comparable to the previous ones. Good popcorn & great customer service at this location. They are impacted by supply chain issues, like a number of other businesses. A sign indicating which items they were out of would've been more helpful than a catch all sign indicating supply chain issues. It would also move the concession line a bit faster as people would not unknowingly order items the concession stand was out of. read more

Very dirty. 4 people behind the count with not one customer in the lobby. We went to sit at one of the 4 tables and all were dirty. Butter station was not right. No one could run the margarita machine. No bar tender on duty, to pull the handle down. Very disappointed. read more

Excited to watch the Barbie movie, when all of a sudden I feel things crawling on me. It was dark so when the light reflected my seat I discovered that it was infested with ants. I noticed the lady next to me was also scratching and slapping her arms. Until I pointed out the trail of ants coming upside the cup coaster, that's when she said do you feel the bugs. So watching the Barbie movie was interrupted by any bites. Thanks Cinemark for "cleaning" your theaters. read more

Nice and clean overall theatre but the recliner chairs are not comfortable and one just . Seat covers are torn and old. They need to upholster the ones that are so old and give a better experience to customers. Food court didn't have Pizza as they ran out of cheese so ended up with an ordinary tasting hot dog. read more

I rarely go to the theatre. Probably once every few years & it has to be something REALLY good or one opportunity only. Betty White's 100th Birthday Celebration film was no question- I hopped on my ticket the second they went on sale! My absolute favorite & bonus this theatre is just a couple miles away. Buying tickets online was extremely easy & the way to go. I don't understand why anyone would opt to wait in line at the window outside (unless you're going for the old school experience). It's much quicker & easier to buy ahead & scan the QR code upon entry. Masks are "required" here, but nothing is enforced. In fact, you're lucky if you come into contact with more than one employee (unless visiting concessions). Besides the concessions counter, I only saw one employee, who scans your ticket before directing you left or right to your screening room. Probably a teenager's dream scenario for sneaking in! Plenty of lines open for concessions. The wait was less than 10 minutes. But, half of their stock is out or unavailable. No pretzels, no cheese, no nachos, no pizzas... the options are popcorn, candy or hot dogs. Drinks aren't a problem. Just note the line for alcoholic beverages (beer, wine & seltzers) is ONLY for alcoholic beverages. You cannot order anything else from that line (not even soda or water) which aggravated a few patrons. Perhaps they should put a sign up... And, per usual, it's better to bring your own food/beverage (outside of alcohol) or you're going to pay $20 for two items. But, yay for the self-serve butter machine! They got smart & realized the more salt they feed you (for free because then you overindulge), the more overpriced beverages you'll buy. Marketing at it's finest! But really- we live in the day/age where you can bring your own snacks & water bottle. For a LOT cheaper & less cholesterol. The theatre, itself, is pretty nice & cleanly. Open concept so it's quite spacious. I didn't feel like social distancing was an issue until you are seated within "holding hand" distance to the total stranger next to you. Lucky for myself the two lady friends next to me... no one bought the last two seats in our row, next to me! I got to move down to the very end & we both had an extra seat to place our purses. The only two empty seats besides the handicap. Winning!!! The chairs are nice "leather" type material, all with an extendable electric footrest. The tiered seating is perfect for shorter folks like myself- no one's head was visible at all! The screen isn't the largest I've seen in a theatre, but it's average, decently visible even towards the back. And, plenty of walking room between the rows with less than steep steps to reach the top sections. Adequate lighting before the show & easy to navigate to your seat. I can't speak for the very front, but I don't think there is a "bad" seat in the house. The viewing angle is good regardless of where you are seated- being on the end was just that much easier. Overall it's a very nice & clean theatre. Seems to be well kept & there were plenty of movie options to choose from if you're undecided or just want to get out & do something. Plenty of showtimes including early afternoon for most, as well. I'm not sure if the Betty White film will be showing again past today (1/17/22) but it is well worth it, and this was a pleasant theatre to enjoy it. (But I will note- it is also a Monday night... no one was really there aside from seeing this show.) Oh, and if you do happen to catch this specific one- be prepared to laugh... & cry, BUT- make sure you stay to the VERY end for the additional surprise! read more

Been going here for a long time. They were one of the first to get the recliner seating but lately the seats seem to be falling apart. Right now my foot rest is broken and one side is hanging down. Luckily the seats next to us were not taken but was disappointed in the conditions of the chairs. If they are charging more for the nicer seating I want them to keep up on the repairs. read more

This is a nice theater. From the previous reviews, I understand that it is a small theater and thus staffed appropriately. We were here on a Tuesday night for a special event, Cirque de Soleil, performance. There was hardly anyone here. The seats are comfortable, but a pillow may be necessary if you experience back problems. The rows are very spacious and the seats lounge back to rest your legs up. But note that it does not have tables for your refreshments. This would get five stars however, in view of my opening statements, the show started 15 minutes late. Someone in the theater, a guest, had to go out and tell the attendant that the movie had not started. The film then promptly played. This action may have to be done since I believe that this theater is short-staffed. And yet, the same attendant I saw, who scanned our ticket, was the same one cleaning the theaters. So it appears that many of the employees here do double duty. Due to the cleanliness of the theater and low volume, I really like this theater. read more

It was really comfortable and it was nice to be inside and away from the Arizona heat, even if only for a couple of hours. Went here to see the movie Game Night today. Good movie however, the cinema was very interesting indeed. To me the interior decoration looked gothic like a time warp into the past. My wife thought it was more reminiscent of the American Horror Story Hotel. The patrons were quite a site as well. It seemed like we were extras on a AHS Hotel set. Maybe it was the long long long corridor connecting all the cinemas giving me vertigo and reminding me of The Shining. Who knows? Anywho, the recliners were bigger and better than their competitions.
