I worked here for a year and I still have such a fondness for it. The management is great all around and they really do go out of their way to make sure every guest has the best experience possible; I saw a range of customer problems solved in such creative and thoughtful ways. The ticket prices are always good, especially on discount Tuesdays and for matinee showings, and apart from the first couple of rows there isn't really a bad seat (all recliners, by the way). Concession prices are high but that comes with the nature of movie theaters. The back kitchen is nice and clean. There's a lot of turnover with the staff just because it's a part time job, but I'd say the ratio of friendly to rude employees is more in favor of friendly; many are likely to chat with you about whatever movie you're seeing as they fill your popcorn bucket. Better ticket prices compared to other theaters in town, and they've put in a lot of effort to upgrading theater seats and the venue as a whole, making it a much nicer experience. The reclining comfy seats in every theater are a really nice touch. I'll drive a bit out of my way to see a movie here, rather than closer to home. read more

I like the theater and the seating, but why did they sell the seat right next to me! COVID is raging in Lane County. They responded to my complaint with "We are increasing guest capacity in our auditoriums in compliance with local regulations, which includes a modification/adjustment to our buffer seating." There were plenty of empty seats in the theater. I was very uncomfortable with having a stranger right next to me. No mask required while seated apparently. There is no checking for vaccination status, so "buffer seating" should be in force. I won't be returning until audience safety is as important as capacity. read more

$5.25 matinee show, I'd be going to the movies all the time because I live in LA and that doesn't happen. Good theater, clean, easy parking, reclining seats. There really isn't anything not to like. Sometimes the staff can be a little slow or not actually say hello to you which could do with a little improvement. My boyfriend and I are currently travelers who carry our backpacks around when we're going from each destination. It started raining cats and dogs and our only option for entertainment was to see a movie. We found a theatre and took a $15 uber to the theatre. We got there, purchased our ticket, the guy said nothing about our bags and sold us the tickets. When we approached the person taking the tickets, she informed us that we were not allowed to take the bags in. I, a person who works at a movie theatre back in my home town, kindly asked if there was an office or somewhere where they could allow us to keep our bags. The women was downright rude to us and told us that we would have to get a refund. I am disappointed with the attitude of the movie theatre employee and the disrespect that they showed us when we were being nothing but kind and their service was awful. read more

The new seating is fantastic. The rows of seats have a lot of room between them so you can comfortably get by people without stepping on them. The seats themselves make it easy to sit through a long movie in total comfort. On our visit the the theater was very clean and the service was acceptable, nothing special but no problems either. Due to the superior seating and comfort I see no reason to go to any other theater in the area. Check 'em out! read more

As per other reviews, LOVE the seating. The chairs are super comfy and the aisles are wide enough that if someone has to get up during the middle of the movie, they are not disturbing the others in their aisle as much. Thumbs up for that! I visited for the first time on a Monday afternoon to take advantage of the matinee pricing. :) Booking online it cost $13.50 for two tickets (incl. a $3 service fee) - not bad! I also appreciate that you select your seats ahead of time, whether that is purchasing online or right at the ticket window. We did not partake in any concessions so I can't comment on that, but the counters looked clean. I found it strange that the theater doesn't have a clear entrance or parking area. I followed the signs for the theater leading to the back/west side of the mall and parked near the doors with a large "Cinemark" sign above them. Going inside those doors one would expect to see the theater or a logical pathway to it, but we stood there for a second like "uhh, where do we go?" and it took a turn or two in the mall to actually reach the entrance. read more

Wasn't sure what to think with the reserved seating but it's been absolutely great! Obviously you need to plan ahead somewhat, but talk about eliminating stress, long lines and people that crowd your seat space. What a great concept! Personally it would be nice for a little more air circulation - I think having a wall (which optimizes the experience) also keeps the airflow a little more contained - different body odors, colognes, food smells etc... just don't dissappear the way it used to. :) Overall- great place to go! Summertime temps- (its now July, 5 months after first review) They need air flow- air conditioning- room temp moderating- new thermostat?? I don't know but has been suffocating last month or two. I am hesitant to make this review, because I feel like it is a well kept secret and I don't want it to get out. They are about half price of Regal, and tend to offer what seems like more movies. Also, the theaters are usually not packed, so you don't have to deal with a stranger next to you munching in your ear. If you take advantage of their "cinemode" application, and get on their email coupon list you can pretty much get free popcorn every time you go into the theater. Always my go to theater! read more

This was the first time I went to cinemark 17 and it was awesome. Seats were very comfy, and sound was great. It's quite a bit cheaper than the Valley River location. I will be going back for sure :) Food is over priced as usual, but that is to be expected. I recomend. read more

This theater is not fancy - especially so now that the mall is being renovated. It is super difficult to figure out where to enter the theater and the seats aren't the most comfortable. BUT it is much cheaper for new movies than Valley River Center and the employees are really friendly. Also, there is something interesting about using a half-abandoned mall bathroom at midnight after a movie. I felt like I was in my own zombie movie. read more

I love going here over the VRC cinema because for starters, it's cheaper and the popcorn for some reason always taste better. I'm a popcorn snob because I have a huge popcorn maker at my house so yes I can taste a difference. Every time I have come here it has been comfortable and the movies always enjoyable. I wish it had easier access to the parking lot, and that I didn't live so far away. But hey if that's what I have to complain about then it still makes my trip worth it even though I live closer to VRC. read more

Went to see The Hustle and sat in the back row because middle was unavailable but the wall that is in between all the rows is so high you have to sit on your foot to see without obstruction. The plus side was we only paid $5 for the movie so I guess for future reference don't sit in the back? Idk we are in town 2 more days maybe we'll go back and see if a middle seat is any better. read more

I can't believe people actually go to the "other" place for some reason. It's only $4 before 6PM and $6 after 6PM, if they've cut back on staff to allot for that drastically low price you can't really tell where. The auditoriums are still as clean as a movie theatre can be, I've never ran into any staff that isn't pleasant. (In reality, I'm sure their rent is a lot less in general, giving them the ability to keep those nice low prices, anyways...) It's also large and well ran in general if you are going to a show that's going to necessitate any line-up beforehand. The "other" place frankly stinks at line-ups, making people wind their way down the ramp into the lobby, so you aren't awkwardly taking up space while waiting for seating. read more

My husband and I had a rare movie night out. We were excited to go to the movies. The movie theater was super crowded, and we had to stand in line to get into the theater. I did not like how we had to walk up a steep flight of stairs. Made me nervous about how I would get out in case of emergency. I had to make an bathroom stop and the bathroom was filthy, paper towels were everywhere. The movie itself was a lot of fun. But when we walked out popcorn was all over the floor of the hallway. It was disgusting. I love going out to the movies, but the filthy bathrooms and messy halls makes me think twice about going back to Cinemark, especially on a rare night out to the movies. read more

Is it gonna give you a VIP treatment seating with massage chairs... no, but you are able to enjoy a movie comfortably! Fairly modern theater, but its located in the most ghetto mall I've ever been in - the Gateway Mall in Springfield. The theater was hot and had been barely cleaned up from the last showing of the prior movie. I wish I had waited and seen this movie in Eugene or at the Clackamas Town Center in Portland. We recently threw a birthday party for my daughter here. It was an awesome experience! We were able to order the tickets and reserve seats ahead of time and reserve the party room. So even though we didn't rent out a theater (which is an option, although more expensive), we were still all able to sit with each other thanks to the reserved seating. I thought the party room was great! It came with plates, cups, napkins, party hats, decorations, two pitchers of soda, and the staff did all of the clean up. The party room rental was $75 for 2 hours and we had close to 40 people there (many were children). The staff was so friendly and accommodating the whole time! We had a blast! read more

I like the new reserved lounged seating. As a tall person, it is nice to finally have ample leg room and not have someone reclining in your lap. Also, the way the rows are situated with a wall in front of you and a wall behind you, you no longer see what the movie goers in front or behind you are doing. This means that you are less likely to see that annoying movie goer who insists on being on their smart phone with the bright screen while you are trying to watch the movie. Other benefits are that the ticket prices are lower than Regal's and they have my other guilty pleasure - the self serve butter machine... just in case you want to add even more butter to your popcorn. read more

The new seats are nice but the fact that they make you choose what seat you are going to sit in before you enter is stupid and annoying when you are meeting your friends and family. There is no good reason to require someone to choose a seat first, to enforce it you need an employee checking stubs for seat assignments so if your goal is to make sure no one is sneaking in you can still do it without inconveniencing everyone ahead of time also. I don't review places at all, so this got me to join yelp because YES it was that much of a annoying hassle. I will go out of my way to try to view all movies at the Regal theater in Valley River Center from now on. read more

Went with some friends to see a movie, sat down for a maximum of 2 minutes during the previews before the movie and took a Snapchat of my own face to send to a friend and was kicked out of the theatre for "recording the screen" even after revealing that the picture OF MY FACE had been deleted and never even sent. Even the people that were sitting down the row from us were confused as to why I was being kicked out because we were not bugging a single individual. I go to the University and have never once had this terrible of an experience anywhere in Eugene. Guy could be a better bodyguard than movie theater security if you ask me. read more

My wife and visited Eugene from 2.5 hours away and while it started out bad it ended amazingly. I won't go into details but there were some technical problems during our movie. I reached out to the theater simply to let them know about it and they made things more than right. Accidents happen, things can't always be perfect but the level of courtesy and customer service we received guaranteed our repete business and faith that Cinemark feels that everyone who visits this location is important. I have been loyal to Cinemark ever since they bent over backwards to give my son a birthday there (I paid, of course) after my reservation at Regal got canceled totally last minute. I live slightly closer to Regal, but whenever there are similar times for movies, I choose Cinemark. They have kind and courteous employees and I love the new reserved seats. The management at Cinemark is terrible. When I went to see John Wick 2, a heavily violent rated R film, my partner and I were seated next to a child who persistently kicked my partner in the shins and would move the recliner consistently throughout the movie. Only to realize half way in that the child's parents reserved seats on the other side of the theater. When we contacted the manager, he asked the child where his parents were. After establishing the child was not accompanied by a parent, the manager said he still couldn't do anything about it. We were offered a refund in the end. But the truth is, due to poor management and bad concessions, I will never come back again. read more

It is what it is... a cheaper theater than VRC, but obviously spendier than the sorely-missed $1.50 theater at the other end of the mall.
