So I'm a total sucker for a restaurant that you can smell the smoker going when you walk up to the building. Is there any better smell? Maybe... but is there any other smell that will get your mouth watering? Doubtful. Okay so the menu is fascinating and a situation where I genuinely had a hard time selecting what to eat and I picked smoked chicken tacos... which is not on brand for me at all. But what a great choice! Honestly, this was one of the most flavorful meals I have had in the region. Can't believe it took me this long to get here... and looking forward to going back soon! This is my second time at Cinder. We requested an outdoor seat facing the river. The two dishes we ordered were very good. The pork belly is cooked well, and the trick is getting a bite with the rice (spicy) and pineapple with the pork. We also got the smash burger tacos. The sauce was very good, and the flavors complemented each other. Service was good, and the price was reasonable for the quality. ;) They do sell out of items, so go earlier. read more

The food was just okay. My husband had the smash burgers. For the price it should have been more elevated with quality cheese. I had the root salad with fried goat cheese. Come on. Bagged mescaline greens!!! The fried goat cheese was just not tasty and greasy! For the price you could support local lettuce growers. Will not go back. Very limited menu had a smash burger and they gave me two taco burgers. Tast good But very little meat and a a cost of 19 dollars I thought it was too expensive for what I got. My wife got a salad that was not much more than an opened bag of mescaline mix no dressing that I could detect and 3 pieces of fried goats cheese. Went back for a 2nd visit but what an extremely disappointing experience. Didn't have a reservation but saw plenty of tables available. Hostess said we would have a table in 10. 25 minutes later went to check and they seated us at a table for 6 which was not even on level ground. Asked to be moved to the 4 top behind us. Hostess said she would check but 10 minutes later she was no where to be found. At this point we were leaving and saw the manager who said the hostess was young, inexperienced and learning. Love Cinder! I've been several times since discovering it a few weeks ago. Love that they are a scratch kitchen (meaning they actually make all of their food on-site fresh and can make adjustments for allergies on the fly). I'm plant based and after living in NYC and LA it's often more challenging for me to find restaurants with more than a side salad and french fries to order in south county. Cinder has a plethora of options for me as well as great options for my meat eating dinner companions. The tofu tacos are 10/10. The venue itself is gorgeous overlooking the river - on the weekends there is sometimes live music (guitar/singer) which is vibey! Strongly recommend making a reservation. Cinder is a great stop in Westerly. We came in for a light dinner, admittedly I wasn't even hungry, but when I saw jalapeño cheddar corn bread on the menu (which was amazing by the way) I knew I had to make room. I got the summer salad which was fresh and vibrant, I loved the creamy dressing it came with. The real winner for me was my husband's fried rice, I couldn't stop picking at it the entire time we were there. Delicious, not too greasy, fresh pineapple. Really really good. The exceptional food quality and diverse offerings stand out among most restaurants in the area. My husband is still raving about the burnt ends. He had them added to his salad. He liked them so much that we plan to visit again in the near future even though the restaurant is 45 minutes away! As promised, we came back to dine in. The location is absolutely beautiful, i highly recommend sitting outside or at least by the waterside windows if you're inside. The service was so charming and polite, and interacted really well with our toddler. We kept it simple this time, each ordering the smashburger naan tacos, which we actually prefer over the brisket tacos. So full of flavor, and plenty of meat, so you definitely leave satisfied with just one order. We visited for the first time, for our anniversary, because of the variety of meatless dishes on their menu. It was a gorgeous day, and we sat on the lovely patio, with umbrellas, right next to the river. The whole side of restaurant was open, so you could also sit inside with the airy feel of the outdoors. Service was fast and friendly, and we automatically got a carafe of water (we love that). We ordered 4 dishes of varying sizes (tofu tacos, jalapeño cheddar cornbread, a side of cheesy grits, and the naanpeñadas) and enjoyed every one of them. It was a good amount of food for 2 of us, and we got to try a lot. The naanpeñadas were probably the most unique and nicely done - perfectly tender and puffy, just out of the fryer. The tofu in the tacos was really delicious, too. I could have used salt on the table (I need lots of salt), but it's on me for not asking for it. The setting, the unique and changing menu that suits many diets, and the service make this a place to which we'll return. Most anyone could find something they'd be happy to eat here. read more

I suppose I didn't really know what to expect with the burger tacos but was pleasantly impressed. The side salad was pretty standard but was very fresh. The hummus is a big sharing portion and the hummus wasn't like any other I've had. On top of everything the service was attentive, quick, and after every dish came out I was reassured the next one would follow promptly. The teamwork of the server, hostess and manager was very beyond appreciated. The setting / layout is convenient and well designed. Outside dining was closed (due to weather) but I imagine it's a great place to go in the summer to dine outside. We went to Cinder this past Saturday and it was a truly amazing lunch experience all around. Nice outside seating area with some shade, a few other tables in another area with corn hole you can play, or some comfy seating for relaxing with a drink. The food was extremely fresh tasting and well prepared. Everything seemed like care and attention was paid to it. I had the Watermelon Gazpacho and it was perfect for a Summer day. I followed it up with the Cheesy Crunchy tacos and they were amazing. My husband had the Smash Burger tacos and he loved his as well. Yet again, Cinder knocks it out of the park. Enjoying the warmth of the sun, we enjoyed a delicious lunch on the patio overlooking the river. A rare treat for late October, indeed. We often order two different types of taco, as two come in an order. We then swap one from each order, so we each enjoy two different tacos. Today we tried the special- the jerk chicken naan taco. It was amazing. The depth of flavor in the chicken, pulled to perfection, with the acidity and freshness of the slaw, was such a beautiful balance. We ordered an order of the standby Smashburger naan taco as well, which never fails to disappoint. I ordered takeout for lunch. It was okay. I ordered the Miso Hummus and an order of Tofu Tacos. I LOVED the hummus. It was so creamy and delicious. I wish I just ordered the hummus. Because the tofu tacos ruined the entire experience for me. They were soggy. The tofu had the strangest texture and flavor. The pineapple was soaking wet and made the entire taco wither away while I ate it. I ended up only eating 3-4 bites because I just couldn't eat the tacos. The service was great. She was patient while I was ordering (it was my first time there). She was also super nice when I went to pick up my order. I just wish the tacos weren't so unappetizing. read more
