My son and I stopped here for lunch on the most beautiful Mystic afternoon. We were looking for somewhere that was outside and quick because we had limited time, and this fit the bill. Parking is ample in the rear with short walk to the front. It was mid-day and not crowded at all. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly at one of the outdoor tables that was under a shade....welcome on a late July sunny afternoon. Our waiter came by with menus, answered any questions and took our drink order. I ordered the barbacoa, pollo verde, carnitas and Baja fish tacos. My son had the Baja fish tacos with salmon and the shrimp ceviche tacos. All were quite good, but the Baja fish tacos, both fried cod and salmon, and shrimp ceviche had the biggest impact. The barbacoa was also very flavorful. I also had a mango margarita on the rocks which was perfect...definitely ask for the larger glass and tajin!! We got the bean and rice bowl to go, which was absolutely amazing and will definitely try it with a protein next time. Overall, a wonderful little taco place that should not be missed! read more

While the tacos (which are à la carte and range from $6-$9) were just okay, the Gringo taco unexpectedly beat out the Barbacoa for me. The real star of the table was the Cadillac Margarita--absolute perfection on a warm night. The service had a bit of a split personality: the poor waitress was slammed out of her mind handling the entire full patio (and likely inside too), so it took quite a while just to get our order taken. But credit where it's due, the kitchen was lightning-fast once the ticket went in. The biggest selling point of the night was how remarkably dog-friendly they are. If you're looking for a great quality taco spot just a bit away (but not too far at all!) from the hustle and bustle of the main area in Mystic, run over to Taquerio. It took us a little over 5 minutes from the bridge. This is the most family friendly restaurant I've been to to-date. On a beautiful summer evening there were tables outside and corn hole and giant connect four games. For little kids they have high chairs and bring over crayons. The food we tried was all delicious and the service was so fast! No time for the little one to get antsy. I really liked the chicken bacon ranch taco. The fried avocado was my next favorite. Queso was off with texture, almost had a grit to it. $7 for a tiny side, condiment size queso and a basket of chips way more chips than you need for such a small container. Tacos were small like street tacos. Poboy was very tasty. BBQ was ok, pork tasted reheated and not enough slaw. I think my partner ate his taco in two bites just to give you an idea of the size. Came here after a run for national taco day! Was able to park in the area and walk over very easily. They have a really nice outside table for a big group. It is very easy to order from the QR code and then they bring the food out. Lots of fun tacos to choose from and some other bowls and dips. Individual tacos around $6-7 so can order many different kinds. Once I ordered the food online the food came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered a carnitas, pollo verde, and baja fish taco. I was super excited to try this place out. The layout is fun and it looks like a great chill spot with games and stuff outside. A decent size inside seating area and a cute outdoor area as well. You order through your phone, there are no menus. If you do not order table or ice water you will not get any. You can not go here without a phone. You can order watever through the app and they bring it to you but there is no one to check up and ask you how you are doing or if you want anything else or get your dishes when you are done until you leave. One very small taco is $6 minimum while chips and salsa are $10 the chips cheese salsa and guac is $14. The guac was the best part but brown at the bottom & the cheese was watery. One of our favorite things about this place is the extremely unique environment - indoor and outdoor seating in a beautifully renovated gas station. Wow! So this place was recommended by someone we met at the base in Groton and he wasn't wrong to recommend this place! When the meat for the nachos was brought out on the side, my husband and I were kind of scared of trying the nachos because I have never seen the meat for the nachos be brought separately (I'm from LA and grew up eating all kids of Mexican food) but we were shocked that the barbacoa was yummy! I also loved the salsa verde and al pastor tacos, just had to ask for a lime ‍ as I am used to having limes with all of my tacos. My husband liked the carnitas and fried cod but I wasn't a huge fan. I also ordered a frozen coquito drink which I have only had when I'm with my Puerto Rican friends. Honestly, this food was really good and I can't wait to bring my kids here! If you get Mackenzie as your waitress/bartender ask her for recommendations bc she's amazing and honest! I heard the Ceviche was great (comes on lettuce instead of a tortilla FYI). The kids meals were huge. The tacos were two stuffed crunchy shells. Really tasty (I got a bite) with a side of house made tortillas and a cheese sauce. My daughter got the chicken quesadilla, and to its credit I didn't even get a bite. Wow, Taquerio is one cool taco spot! We were over in Mystic and my sister was craaving tacos. Taquerio popped up in our search. Once a gas station and car garage, this place has so much character. I love how it was renovated without hiding that fact, using it to their advantage with a wicked cool outdoor patio, bar area, and mechanic shop decor. It reminded me of Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure. Our server was fantastic and the food came out quick.The menu was simple... Tacos! There were also nachos with queso or guacamole, and desserts. Each taco was $4-$6 each from beef to chicken to vegetarian. We each got 3 different tacos and they were stuffed! We got Barbacoa, Carnitas, Pollo Verde, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Fried Plantain, Mojo Wild Mushroom and Shrimp Ceviche. The Shrimp Ceviche taco was fun since it was in a lettuce wrap. Everything was fresh, flavorful and was filling. We had no room for dessert. One little thing we were confused on was the parking. Since it was in a downtown area, there were parking areas reserved for other shops and businesses. There was a fenced-in parking lot directly behind Taquerio, but it wasn't marked. Luckily, we found off-street parking that wasn't too far of a walk. I would love to visit Taquerio during the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor seating. There were some corn hole games set up too. Parking is available on the side and back. Parking is limited compared to the size of the restaurant. Reservations aren't taken, so it is first come, first serve. If you're in the area, I would highly recommend stopping in. The staff is friendly and kind. You can order from the wait staff or through your phone. I've found that service is much faster when ordering through your phone. You're able to customize, pick, and choose various options as well as input any special instructions. We came on a Wednesday night, which is BINGO night. It's a bit loud if you have little ones with you. Super fun! Portions were a bit small compared to the pricing, but the food was delicious. The restaurant looks like a gas station turned restaurant, it's a fun design/layout. There's a large outside seating area. As we were walking up to the front doors from the parking lot the back doors were open and an employee was outside chatting with another employee and tossing multiple tortillas back in forth in their hands. I wanted to leave when I saw but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and hoped those tortillas aren't the same ones my tacos came on.. As for the tacos themselves way overpriced averaging $5/$6 each. They were flavorful but not worth that price tag. The coconut margarita was personally too sweet for me but flavor was there. I just ate here and it's honestly below average! All these reviews I would've thought it was gonna be so amazing, the tacos came cold and literally no flavor. Not even any lime on the side or salt/pepper on the tables to save the food, I wouldn't come back $6-7 dollars for each taco which is already a lot but it's even worse being that the food just sucked! I don't live here I'm not from here I'm just visiting, clearly the people that made the recipes don't know anything about real Mexican authentic flavor. Don't come here unless you like bland cold dry food with an extra up charge of $14 for chips salsa guac and cheese. Most Mexican places it's just free, ridiculous. The service was questionable as well , the girl up front seemed annoyed that we came in too it was already busy but her attitude was off putting. Tacos are small, so get at least two, probably three or four if you're fairly hungry. Service - good service, fast, and friendly. We've been here a handful of times now, and the service is consistently on point. Ambiance - depends on where you're sitting. Outside on a beautiful day, really nice but does have that 'parking lot' vibe, because you're sitting in a parking lot. Inside, near the bar is very good, cool atmosphere. There's a back room which is dark and unappealing to me, so the bar area is the winner. Prices - reasonable. Drinks - good selection of beers and cocktails. My favorite is the spicy ranch water. These are pretty serious decadent tacos! I had one of the beef, fish and the buffalo chicken. They were all really amazing, but I think the Buffalo chicken surprisingly was the best. Each taco is about 6 to 7 bucks but I think we kind of was disappointing. It was that the guac and salsa was like $12. Food: the chips and salsa were delicious and i thought the queso was just okay. The tacos were really good, i got the fried avocado and barbacoa, and would order them both again. My husband really enjoyed the fried plantain one as well, which says a lot as he is a carnivorous focused individual. Went on a Wednesday at a friend's suggestion for Bingo and tacos! SO. MUCH. FUN!!! Food was great - got chicken bacon ranch tacos, chips w/salsa and queso, and an amazing Prosecco speciality cocktail! Service was incredibly speedy and hot, delicious food came flying out of the kitchen! Decided to have another taco and this time got "The Gringo" - just the right amount of kick. Only wish I had was a little more room at the table, they are a bit narrow so our group of five was a bit crammed. But we were there for tacos and bingo, not a five course wine tasting to be fair. We were searching for outdoor dining in December and we lucked out. Our friend recommended Taquerio and we stopped by. It's a quirky place in a converted gas station. There is plenty of seating outside including where the gas pumps used to be. Definitely charming and fun location. Now to the food. We loooved the food. The chips came out fresh and Warm with a tasty guacamole. The Al pastor taco was so good! The meat was well seasoned and it was a big portion. The fried oyster taco was great with large oysters fried very well. The chicken verde was devoured by the toddler. The shredded chicken with a nice sauce were great and we added some house hot sauce and it was perfect. The grilled swordfish taco was very good as well. The cabbage slaw was a good compliment to the fish. The margarita was great. Strong and tasty and not overly sweet. Service was super friendly. They were very accommodating and helpful even if we were the only ones eating outside at the time. This is definitely a place to return to when we are in the area.
