Terrific taco spot in Mystic CT. Street tacos served a la carte in a beautiful, open air space. Casual, welcoming environment with friendly servers. Our group of three enjoyed 8 different tacos off the menu and all were delicious. Would absolutely return if ever in the Mystic area again. read more

Food was pretty decent but for the price I expected a little more. The queso was bland and watery but the tacos were pretty good. Al Pastor taco sauce had a weird taste to it as well. Enjoyed the margarita and Pollo Verde taco very much. Awesome you can get margaritas to go as well. read more

I love a taqueria, and I'm comparing this place to home cooking and beloved food trucks. Let me tell you - this place is such a rip off it's insane. It kinda makes me angry. I get why they're popular, as it's hard to find this kind of dining experience in this area. But, the prices relative to the quality and quantity are just plain mean. It's like they're messing with people. No no no. read more

We had been looking forward to trying Taquerio on our trip to Mystic and it did not disappoint. Laid back atmosphere, very friendly staff, fast service and delicious food! You must try the plantain taco and the fish (lightly fried cod) was absolutely delicious. The barbacoa was so good, I think I could have eaten 10 of them. read more

Bingo on Wednesday evening was nice, service was super quick, tacos a lil pricy so be ready, but they were yummy

I've never come here to eat but I have come here for some of the best margaritas I've ever had. Im a notorious "drink leaver" I do not finish any alcoholic beverage unless it comes with an umbrella and cost my entire paycheck. However the margaritas here are made with fresh fruit, little syrup and LOTS of GREAT tequila! I always get the watermelon margarita and I was very much looking forward to it on my trip and it did not disappoint. Our bartender was friendly and very funny. Cracking jokes the entire time while also giving no us our space to enjoy our night. This spot is a renovated gas station and is super sick! Definitely worth stopping in. read more

Solid taco spot! Great vibe in a converted old gas station. We were a party of 7 and everyone was raving about the food. Had 2 fish tacos which were super fresh and delicious. We washed everything down with a margarita tower. Great service and casual ambiance. Total repeat! read more

Taquerio - Margarita Tower! - Tacos Near Me - Mystic, Connecticut

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I am incredibly impressed at the upswing in delicious places to eat in Mystic, and Taquerio is no exception. I had read some of the previous reviews and thought-- wait this sounds like a real taqueria,.. a bit fancier than the kind I have here at home and used to have when I lived in Texas. And it is-- it's real tacos. I got the al pastor (which I get everywhere cause it's my favorite taco), a plantain taco, and an avocado taco. We also got chips and guac for the table. The portions were generous, and the plantain taco got shared around the table because it was (a) really good and (b) I was really full. My super picky 6 year old got "the gringo" which she didn't want (but grandpa said it was good), and then got the chicken with just cheese and ate the entire thing. Al pastor: really tender, great combo of spice and sweet, loved it. Avocado: chunks of fried avocado on spicy black beans with crema and picked onions- omg yum. Plantain: I was expecting plantain mash or a tostone (salty), but it was a sweet (maduro) plantain on spicy black beans with pickled red onions. It was the most surprising taco of the evening and was REALLY good. Overall; go. I had a great experience. I love being able to scan a QR code and add to my order, AND the waitstaff was friendly and team oriented. read more

What a brilliant idea! Take an old closed down gas station, keep some of the station charm and turn it into an open air mostly Mexican eating spot! The atmosphere earns 5 stars. The menu is straight forward and simple. My husband had the taco salad. Negative here...you have to pay an additional $5 plus to add any kind of protein, otherwise it's just lettuce and beans basically. I had two street tacos which were delicious but upon my first bite I discovered a bone fragment in my meat! I saved it and reported it to the waitress. The manager came over and apologized and took that taco off of our bill. Summing this up I would probably give them another try. read more

Had lunch here for the first time since it opened a few years back. I highly recommend this quaint little taste of taco heaven. I was told the tacos are small so I ordered three. They were five dollars each. The tortilla might've been what some might call small, but it is stuffed with delicious mouthwatering filling. They offer so many choices It was hard to choose. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch, buffalo chicken, and a fish taco. All three were absolutely delicious. Service was great and the restaurant was airy and clean. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in Mystic. read more

Just ok tacos for us. Nice staff , good service. We tried the grilled swordfish, fried cod and fried oyster tacos. If the tortillas had just been warmed a bit it would have made all the difference. Just our taco snob opinions:) Great unique little spot though and we love the atmosphere and the origin the conversion for the old gas station. Very cool. read more

We have been here a few times, but this past visit was delightful! The thing really made it refreshing was the watermelon marg. The wizards behind the bar muddle fresh watermelon to create this summer delight. The only reason I knocked a star off was the chicken ranch taco. It really was nothing special, I dare say lacking flavor. I would prefer the Ruben tacos year round. read more

Five stars for cocktails and atmosphere. Three stars for food. Do not miss the mango margarita. Skip the queso. All the tacos are pretty solid. Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring a date. Or bring no one. It's a very fun and inclusive atmosphere. read more

A great spot in Mystic if you're looking for good Mexican food in a fun, laid back environment. Plenty of tacos to pick from. The chips and queso were great and a perfect portion for 2. My taco salad was full of flavor. The service was quick. We've been for lunch and for packed bingo nights. It's a fun place for people of all ages. Highly recommend! read more

A new go to. I'm so psyched to find a place in Mystic that's worth it. 4 1/2 stars Service: great Atmosphere: great Parking: great Prices: great Food: very good Plantain taco: great Al pastor taco: great Guac: over seasoned Chips: great Nachos: too wet with sauces Desserts are a real let down and after having such a great time for an hour, the sweet tooth definitely starts calling. Hopefully that'll improve. Looking forward to trip two and a five star review. Go. read more

After a not so great experience at their other restaurant we decided to give this place a try since we had a gift card. This place did not disappoint and was such a pleasant experience compared to our last. The food, service and atmosphere were a 10 out of 10. The tacos were delicious, a little expensive, but that's to be expected in this area. The drinks were strong!!! which of course is always a plus :-) and even my sometimes picky toddlers enjoyed their food. The chips and salsa were some of the best that I've ever had. The best thing about this place (and truly, I couldn't stop talking about it) was the atmosphere! This restaurant is an old converted gas station/ garage -- such a clever design!!! I loved every inch of this place and even though I'm over an hour away, I will definitely be back! read more

We live around the corner and have been a few times. It is absolutely solid Mexican (especially since we can walk to it), and the vibe is relaxed. Server quality varies widely as we've had very warm and friendly to absolutely ice-cold servers (the reason for 4 starts vs. 5). I have visit MANY parts of the world including Greece, Mexico, Germany. Everywhere really. And taquerio really prepares the best tacos!

We were searching for outdoor dining in December and we lucked out. Our friend recommended Taquerio and we stopped by. It's a quirky place in a converted gas station. There is plenty of seating outside including where the gas pumps used to be. Definitely charming and fun location. Now to the food. We loooved the food. The chips came out fresh and Warm with a tasty guacamole. The Al pastor taco was so good! The meat was well seasoned and it was a big portion. The fried oyster taco was great with large oysters fried very well. The chicken verde was devoured by the toddler. The shredded chicken with a nice sauce were great and we added some house hot sauce and it was perfect. The grilled swordfish taco was very good as well. The cabbage slaw was a good compliment to the fish. The margarita was great. Strong and tasty and not overly sweet. Service was super friendly. They were very accommodating and helpful even if we were the only ones eating outside at the time. This is definitely a place to return to when we are in the area. Great experience. 5 stars. read more

It is Christmas at Taquerio and you have to go. The decorations and the "Frozen" room are incredible. Along with this is a special menu. I don't want to spoil it for you but it's awesome. read more

I had a wonderful experience at this new taqueria. Ordering was simple with the QC code, and my meal was served to me within minutes. I sampled three items: a plantain taco and a beef taco called the Gringo, and they were both authentic Mexican tacos. The taco shell is not any prepackaged shell; it's the real deal...homemade deliciousness. I had two orders of charros. I could not stop with one order because frankly, they were the best charros I have ever tasted. I was greeted by Jake, the manager of this new establishment, and Jake's enthusiasm and loyalty to this restaurant is what is going to make this restaurant an absolute success. The restaurant is actually a converted gas station, and the vibe is casual and chill. I highly recommend this taqueria as a stop on your I-95 travels. Service is quick, the food is delicious and beautifully presented, and the ingredients are fresh. read more

Disappointing limited menu and terrible ingredients. More of a beer garden type of place. A far cry from the restaurant trend in town with real quality , modern food this place is a regression to shopping mall food court level. Stay away from the churros especially - industrial pre made junk which could have passed as Milk Bones. read more

While in Mystic for a wedding, we stopped for a taco on the way back to the airport. I had Baja style fried cod, Hubs had fried avocado then we both had oyster Po boy tacos. Everything was yummy! Expensive, boring food, ok service at best. Not a fan of having to order on phone, I'm looking to unwind when I go out, not figure out how to digitally order. The tacos were quite small and not imaginative. Had two drinks and eight small tacos for two people. Left hungry after spending $60 on what felt like just an appetizer on a paper plate. Won't be returning again. read more

Think some folks are missing the concept here. This place is supposed to be a limited menu kinda place. Its a taqueria. Pros: the old M Bar concept with the outside tables is fun and brightens up the Stonington side of Mystic. The tacos are fun with traditional and different taco concepts. The drinks are good. The cons: A bit expensive for a casual place. A $4-$5 taco should be bigger. I should not need 4 or 5 to fill up at those prices. Also, arriving at opening before, the frozen margaritas were not ready. That's literally what I came for. Overall, a fun addition to town working out some growing pains. read more

What a great idea! Take an abandoned gas station (of which there are thousands) and turn it into a fast food and fun taqueria! The services is great, the people are friendly, the food is tasty, fresh and spicy and the ambience as cars go into Mystic is great (on a nice day). I'd like to see more innovative use of abandoned spaces. Plus the service staff is warm and friendly. Stop here instead of in town...and gas up!! read more

The food here is acceptable, the outdoor atmosphere is clever but strange and some tables are very close to the street. There is a parking lot off the back which is a plus for any Mystic restaurant. The server was friendly and attentive. Our order consisted of 2 margaritas which couldn't have have more than 4 ounces of liquid minus the ice. We also had 2 light beers. We had 5 tacos. They were an interesting combo and flavors, including a Reuben taco, and a Buffalo chicken taco (which was my favorite). These tacos are "street" taco sized, which means small according to an overheard conversation. Our bill for 4 drinks, 5 tacos and chips with salsa was $69 after a 15% gratuity. The building is not in line with the style of the town, but I am glad there is a new restaurant there. I wish them the best of luck, but probably won't return until they reconsider their pricing structure. read more

This is a nice quick stop for casual taco meal and drinks. It is only tacos and taco salad. So you must be in the mood! I met some friends for lunch today to try this new restaurant out. It is owned by the same outfit as Rio Salodo across town. We tried the guacamole and salsa with chips. Chunky guacamole with perfectly salted chips. The salsa was a thin tomato based mild salsa. It was tasty. The drinks we had were delicious; a frozen strawberry margarita and a pain killer. We each sampled a variety of tacos; The barbacoa taco was beef with a little bit of heat. Not to bad, just a nice bite. The meat was tender and toppings were perfect. The pollo verde taco was light with sweet corn but a little bit on the soupy side. The Baja fried cod was surprisingly welcomed! Crispy cod topped with a chipotle dressing. The buffalo chicken tasted like it sounds and this to was a bit runny but what can you do?! For dessert the girls had chocolate taco which was a Klondike taco with the vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate. We were told it was like the one you get from the ice cream truck! Overall, everything we tasted was delicious. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. There is indoor and outdoor seating. And there is parking in the back! A hard find in Mystic. Price wise, I feel the street tacos are small and the $4/each is a bit much for the amount of protein you are getting. People want to get their money's worth and I did feel it was overpriced for the food portion. This is something that would definitely keep me from going back. I work hard for my money people! read more

Excellent! The service was friendly, the location convenient right outside of the village, very cool use of an old gas station and renovation. There was corn hole to play, pretty string lights, many different seating options from bar to table to hightop to outdoor tables suited for larger parties. We were seated & served with a smile and to our preference. The chips came out hot with fresh salsa (a lil on the spicy side) and the margaritas were #1 Delicious! Not too sweet, didn't taste artificial, texture was smooth on blended and ice was lite and drink generous for on the rocks. I got both the guava iced margarita with sugar rim and the painkiller which is my favorite. It was nice they offer salt, sugar, and tajin as options. #2 Their prices for food and drinks were down to earth so you could just enjoy and indulge yourself. 5-6 a taco, well worth it considering the quality, freshness, and out of the ordinary flavors. I got the shrimp ceviche, plantain, and oyster po boy and they were all sooo good. The only thing I think I would suggest is music. It was busy so the vibes were good but I didn't really hear any from where we were sat and that would have been nice. Will definitely be on my radar whenever I visit Mystic! read more

This cozy restaurant once was a gas station. Its fun, brazen new fresh take on local dining and having FUN! The bingo nights are a blast. The drinks are healthily mixed- yum!! Its a great place. Sit outside in summer. Its a great spot for us locals at the end of town a bot away from the tourists, but I'm meeting regulars that are coming in from New London, Niantic, Uncasville... it attracts diversity and its a great place to have a drink and eat fresh Mexican food with friends.
