Hit the Cadillac Margaritas, Stay for the Dog-Friendly Vibes We checked out Taquerio on a bustling summer evening. While the tacos (which are à la carte and range from $6-$9) were just okay, the Gringo taco unexpectedly beat out the Barbacoa for me. The real star of the table was the Cadillac Margarita--absolute perfection on a warm night. The service had a bit of a split personality: the poor waitress was slammed out of her mind handling the entire full patio (and likely inside too), so it took quite a while just to get our order taken. But credit where it's due, the kitchen was lightning-fast once the ticket went in. The biggest selling point of the night was how remarkably dog-friendly they are. They proactively brought out fresh water bowls for the overheated pups on the patio. Huge thumbs up for the dog hospitality!

BLUF: Hipster taco joint with overly busy tacos. The restaurant is in an ex gas station, so the ascetic is reclaimed space. So it's more of a quick bite vibe than destination space. The service is very friendly and fast, which you would expect from a small space. The tacos start at $6 each, and they're the size you'd expect of an authentic taco. Maybe to justify this price, they put too much on some of the tacos, especially the chicken bacon ranch. Every taco suffered from being drowned in sauce, so the underlying ingredients almost don't matter as a result. The oyster po boy was my favorite, followed by the shrimp ceviche. The carnitas and pollo verde were food, but didn't wow. The fish taco I had was light on the aioli on one side, so I can say that it's really good if you have no or light sauce. This is also the taco that attacked me the most on the backend, however, when I had more of the chipotle. The gringo was just as boring as the name suggests. There are better taquerias in the area, this wouldn't be my top choice nor suggestion.

If you're looking for a great quality taco spot just a bit away (but not too far at all!) from the hustle and bustle of the main area in Mystic, run over to Taquerio. It took us a little over 5 minutes from the bridge. This is the most family friendly restaurant I've been to to-date. On a beautiful summer evening there were tables outside and corn hole and giant connect four games. For little kids they have high chairs and bring over crayons. The food we tried was all delicious and the service was so fast! No time for the little one to get antsy. I really liked the chicken bacon ranch taco. The fried avocado was my next favorite. The kids chicken bites were a hit. I'd definitely come back!

Came here after a run for national taco day! Was able to park in the area and walk over very easily. They have a really nice outside table for a big group. It is very easy to order from the QR code and then they bring the food out. Lots of fun tacos to choose from and some other bowls and dips. Individual tacos around $6-7 so can order many different kinds. Once I ordered the food online the food came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered a carnitas, pollo verde, and baja fish taco. I think the fish was my favorite with a decent amount of fish! They were all tasty. They were a little small for the price and i still was a little hungry after 3 tacos. But nice place for a big group!

The Quick: Insanely good tacos with a relaxed vibe, very friendly service (thanks Kristina!) and Plenty of options for everyone. The Details: I was in a rush but wanted a tasty meal (not fast food) and boy did this spot deliver. With three different vegetarian easily made vegan tacos, our group was thrilled. Get the fried avocado, you won't be disappointed! Very accommodating. Really loved the mushroom, avocado, plantain, And salmon tacos all 10/10. The damage: ~ $5/taco with a great haopt hour 330-530

Absolutely love this little gas station converted into a taco shop. Great chips and salsa. Refreshing drinks and numerous tacos to choose from. Along with the kids meal selection that won't break the bank. Tons of shady spot out side to sit at on sunny days. The servers are great and food comes out quick.

I was super excited to try this place out. The layout is fun and it looks like a great chill spot with games and stuff outside. A decent size inside seating area and a cute outdoor area as well. You order through your phone, there are no menus. If you do not order table or ice water you will not get any. You can not go here without a phone. You can order watever through the app and they bring it to you but there is no one to check up and ask you how you are doing or if you want anything else or get your dishes when you are done until you leave. One very small taco is $6 minimum while chips and salsa are $10 the chips cheese salsa and guac is $14. The guac was the best part but brown at the bottom & the cheese was watery. I was honestly very disappointed.

Taquerio is one of my favorite lunch/dinner spots in Mystic, my friends and I love coming here when we are in the area. One of our favorite things about this place is the extremely unique environment - indoor and outdoor seating in a beautifully renovated gas station. If you're looking for a relatively quick outdoor spot for a meal, this is a great choice. The tacos are absolutely delicious (so fresh, flavorful, and filling), just note the price of $6-7 per taco. Service has always been great in my experience as well. Cannot recommend enough, absolutely delicious tacos! Pricey, but I would say well worth it.

Wow! So this place was recommended by someone we met at the base in Groton and he wasn't wrong to recommend this place! When the meat for the nachos was brought out on the side, my husband and I were kind of scared of trying the nachos because I have never seen the meat for the nachos be brought separately (I'm from LA and grew up eating all kids of Mexican food) but we were shocked that the barbacoa was yummy! I also loved the salsa verde and al pastor tacos, just had to ask for a lime ‍ as I am used to having limes with all of my tacos. My husband liked the carnitas and fried cod but I wasn't a huge fan. I also ordered a frozen coquito drink which I have only had when I'm with my Puerto Rican friends. Honestly, this food was really good and I can't wait to bring my kids here! If you get Mackenzie as your waitress/bartender ask her for recommendations bc she's amazing and honest! Right now it's decorated with Christmas theme and it's fun for the whole family very chill vibes and you need to come here!

each taco had exquisite flavors- my fiancée and i each had 3-4 tacos which was perfect! we went during lunch, were sat down promptly with efficient service. love that this place is an old gas station, such a cool concept and cute layout! my ratings are listed below: 1. fried cod !! so yummy and crispy, my fave 2. chicken bacon ranch - flavor explosion 3. fried avocado - sauce was sooo good! 4. the gringo - loved the differentiation of the crunchy shell 5. buffalo chicken taco (my fiancée's fave but i'm not as big on the buffalo flavors!)

I normally wouldn't recommend gas station tacos, but I'll make an exception since this is a covered gas station/ garage. Super casual, a great set up for a group, drinks or bringing kids. The tacos though. They are mostly fantastic. Oysters were the best. Mushrooms were delish. The Carnitas ... Just okay at best as were the fish. I heard the Ceviche was great (comes on lettuce instead of a tortilla FYI). The kids meals were huge. The tacos were two stuffed crunchy shells. Really tasty (I got a bite) with a side of house made tortillas and a cheese sauce. My daughter got the chicken quesadilla, and to its credit I didn't even get a bite. If you're deciding between 2 or 3 tacos, go with 2, and then order the third after. They are ready in minutes. Over all charming spot with friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Wow, Taquerio is one cool taco spot! We were over in Mystic and my sister was craaving tacos. Taquerio popped up in our search. Once a gas station and car garage, this place has so much character. I love how it was renovated without hiding that fact, using it to their advantage with a wicked cool outdoor patio, bar area, and mechanic shop decor. It reminded me of Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure. Our server was fantastic and the food came out quick. The menu was simple... Tacos! There were also nachos with queso or guacamole, and desserts. Each taco was $4-$6 each from beef to chicken to vegetarian. We each got 3 different tacos and they were stuffed! We got Barbacoa, Carnitas, Pollo Verde, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Fried Plantain, Mojo Wild Mushroom and Shrimp Ceviche. The Shrimp Ceviche taco was fun since it was in a lettuce wrap. Everything was fresh, flavorful and was filling. We had no room for dessert. One little thing we were confused on was the parking. Since it was in a downtown area, there were parking areas reserved for other shops and businesses. There was a fenced-in parking lot directly behind Taquerio, but it wasn't marked. Luckily, we found off-street parking that wasn't too far of a walk. I would love to visit Taquerio during the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor seating. There were some corn hole games set up too. I can only imagine having a good time. Great food and great vibes.

You'd be right, there are restaurants here serving such standard cuisine, but what makes a trip to the Boro special is a trip to Milagro Cafe, serving the best Mexican food and drink in Southeastern Connecticut. Having eaten in dozens of Mexican restaurants from Texas to NYC over the years, my wife Pat and I were thrilled to find Milagro: sure, it has traditional burritos and tacos dishes, but the chef's take combining Mexican fare with an American twist is special. Last night I had braised beef enchiladas, while Pat chose roasted pork with tomatillo and cactus sauce-- both incredible. And the drinks! Milagro Cafe has a truly amazing bartender in Rebecca who, given her talents with margaritas, would be a renowned mixologist if she were in Manhattan ( although she'd never let anyone call her that.) She creates an amazing array of original margaritas, whether her classic Patron ( my go-to) or one of her seasonal creations ( Pat loved Rebecca's mixed berry margarita, a summer selection)...better than any we've ever had, anywhere. We managed to find a spot. Unfortunately when we came out someone had parked behind us in a non spot and blocked us in! Surprisingly we were seated immediately. I suspect some of the parking was for the art fair across the street! Mystic Diner what you'd picture of a typical diner - but extremely spacious inside and tons of outdoor seating on this beautiful Labor Day weekend. My friend and I split the lamb gyro and salad while our other friend had this amazing stuffed French toast with bananas. The portions were huge and everything was reasonably priced. The service wasn't awful but it wasn't really above and beyond. They were very busy so I understand but our waiter never came to check on us after our food was served. Not a deal breaker. The food was excellent and the menu was very broad, with a lot of Greek options. It was hard to choose what to get. I was happy with the gyro and it was more than enough to share! Overall, I might go back but with so many great options in Mystic, I may want to try someplace else next time. This was pretty comparable to any Long Island diner. If you're visiting a state without a true diner experience and you're in Mystic, this is worth a stop! I'm sort of surprised it only has 3 stars. I'm giving it a solid 4.
