Took a flyer on a quick dinner at Cinco5 the other night before catching a SB Cubs game. First timer. Our server and her trainee had smiling faces and were very helpful with the menu. Had the guacamole app and the Pad Prik Pao and they were both delicious. The Thai dish was full of fresh vegetables, had a flavorful sauce, and the amount of heat was perfect. My husband and I stopped in for a recent weekday lunch thanks to a $20 groupon we had. It wasn't too busy, service was spot on and we were actually able to get in and out in just under an hour. The lunch menu includes a mix Mexican and Thai options (the Thai is a carryover from the former Siam Thai restaurant). Prices are very reasonable - if we hadn't ordered an app, we wouldn't have used the full Groupon value. We couldn't resist the guacamole as a starter and it didn't disappoint. The only downside was that the chips were a little greasy. I ordered the Mexican quesadilla with chicken, cheese and fresh jalapeños - the perfect amount of spice. It was served with a side of guac, rice and beans. My husband gladly helped me out with the beans and said they were great. My husband opted for one of the burritos with steak and chorizo which he loved. Our waitress was great - drink refills without asking and checking in at the perfect times. We have heard nothing but good things about Cinco 5 so we decided to try it out. The service was excellent. We asked many questions and our server was gracious and helpful with her answers. The ambiance has something to be desired. There are two main dining areas. One is cozy with all booth seating. The other, where we sat, is more wide open with a few tables and no booths. IMO it's quite an odd set up. They could benefit from an interior designer. Not really a big deal to me though. The food...ah, the food! Chef's kiss to you Cinco 5! Amazing! We started with the pork dumplings. So good with the spicy dipping sauce. I had the pad thai with a heat level of 2 as suggested by our server. The portion was generous but still a tad spicy for me. Next time I'll try spicy #1. The hubs had the chicken and steak fajitas. They didn't come out sizzling like our neighboring table's did but he wasn't mad. The man is a fajita connoisseur, these take the top spot! Both meats were tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. Two big !! What a great meal! We can't wait to return to Cinco 5. This is a solidly good Mexican place. The salsa and chips and guacamole are really very good and definitely one of the stars of the show. The Mexican food is pretty decent, nothing overly special. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on the shrimp tacos but the shrimp itself was good. However, for the price and fun Mexican environment it's worth a visit! read more

Cinco 5 is famous to local students for its "margarita towers". Always fun when you have enough people. I believe there is a 4 person minimum requirement. We had a great time before a show at Morris Civic around the corner. It was a busy night, with a bit of a wait, but was worth it. Two of my favorite types of food - Mexican and Thai - which seems like an odd mix, but if you think about, both are based on unique flavors and they have a lot of it. Their salsa is great, the sauces with the Thai food were excellent and their specialty margaritas were really good. There is something for everyone on the menu. Came here for lunch today. It's a fusion of... Mexican, American, and Thai! The Thai place that was nearby closed so the chef came to work here and now you have it! The service was quick and polite. The host greeted the moment we stepped in. I ordered the pad see ewe and it had really good flavor but the noodle were kind of hard which means it's not the freshest as normally those noodles get hard if it's been sitting a few days. I'll definitely try the pad Thai if we come back. The boyfriend got a Chicken quesadilla with beans and rice and it was good. We got 10% off when we showed the yelp check in though the server didn't know what it was and went to ask. Nice place to grab lunch and catch up. Who ever the high schooler is who answers the phone there really needs to be fired. They kept confusing teriyaki with soy sauce, did t know what tempura was. While this may seem like a great place to check out for groups with diverse palate preferences, it will certainly succeed in disappointing each one. You'd think, with a name like Cinco, it would be a Mexican restaurant, and it is, but they also have Chinese, Italian, Curry and Thai food. It's like Cheesecake Factory with multiple cuisines. I ended up with the fried tamales which were good but I was expecting a bigger, more filling meal. I even asked if it was enough for someone who was pretty hungry and the waiter said yes. It was not. As others have said it has a very eclectic menu. My dinner consisted of Thai tea, eggrolls and fried tamales. They were all good and it made for a seriously nice dinner. The eggrolls were honestly some of the best I've ever had. The Thai tea was very good also. The fried tamales were good tamales but I think the fried part made very little difference. But if you're in the mood for tamales they are worth getting. Would definitely recommend trying this place out. Next time in town I'm in town I will certainly eat here. read more

I loved that I could order Veggie tacos, which were delicious a la Mexicana (the real way to eat tacos: corn tortillas, onion, extra cilantro and lime juice please!) This restaurant was a little unassuming at first but once my family and I sat down we were greeted with fast friendly service. The food was wonderful I truly recommend the fried tamales. I think this is a great option if you are looking for something casual and relatively fast that is not your typical Michiana chain restaurant. They have quite a diverse menu with everything from Mexicali to Vietnamese. Chips and salsa on the table, you might think Mexican, and if that's what you want, no problem. We opted for more Asian option. I had the drunken noodles with chicken and my wife had the pad Thai with shrimp. We both agreed that my dish was the winner of the two though both were highly edible. We ordered carry out today. Got the chicken pad Thai and the a beef burrito. The pad Thai was interesting - it did not taste like the typical pad Thai. The taste is a bit hard to describe, it wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite for sure. The chicken was cooked well, and the tofu pieces in it were also good. There was barely any noodle and for the price the size was small. For a good pad Thai (and a little cheaper) downtown I highly recommend Cambodian Thai. I really didn't like my food. The service was fine but I just didn't like my food. So maybe my first mistake was ordering pad Thai at a place called Cinco 5. It had a weird earthy after taste. The chicken was cooked okay but the tofu was rubbery. I always think pad Thai is safe but this is my least favorite pad Thai I've had. However the people I ate with that got Mexican food liked their dishes. I also had their guacamole and chips. Their guac was delightful.
