Ok, this was really one of the best meals I've had in a while! Spicy Cucumber Margarita-YUM!! Pad See Ewe- very similar to drunken noodles but not spicy... well they made it spicy for me and OMG it was fantastic. My former go to was Cambodian Thai... welp.. this was so much better. The flavor was fantastic, I do which they had the wider rice noodles, but still the winner! My friend had tacos with the blackened tilapia. I'm not a big fish fan but I was tempted to get an order to go! Thelma our waitress was one of the best servers I have had. All I can say is go treat your taste buds! read more

I drove up to South Bend to meet up with a bunch of my girlfriends here for dinner one weekend. Not being familiar with the town or the restaurant, I assumed that we were going to be enjoying Mexican food. Cinco, right? Well, this restaurant offers up plenty of Mexican plates, but there is also Asian and some burgers. I guess if no one can agree on a type of food, or like in our case, you have a big party and you want to cover your bases, a place like this works. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were fine. I liked the corn tortillas and all the lime wedges that came on the plate, but was really hoping for more of a pow in my mouth. Also, it wasn't a lot of food. Word to the wise, DO NOT assume that chips and salsa come complementary on your table. They do not. If you ask for some at the table, because you think you're in a Mexican restaurant and they are complimentary, you will get them and be charged for them. read more

I had the pad Thai and it was amazing! I ordered the spice level of 3 out of 5 and my lower lip is on . My hubby ordered street tacos and they were amazing he had one of each! I don't normally do reviews but this is one of my favorites when visiting South Bend and I thought they should have more good reviews. I actually only spent two nights in SB this week and ate at Cinco5 both evenings. I seem to always want to go with Thai food when I eat here but also enjoy the drink specials. Only $5 for this Mango Margarita tonight and it was very good. Their Mojito's are great too with fresh squeezed lime. It's easy to walk across the street from the DoubleTree. They clearly show on the menu what is vegetarian or vegan, with a variety of options. Sometimes they've had nice live music. read more

Dirty cheap tacos that taste like expensive ones. I always get the Mexican style, which is corn tortilla, steak, cilantro and onion with a little lime. The meat is savory and juicy, the cilantro and onion is fresh and delicious, and best of all, the staff is friendly and attentive. The building itself is beautifully decorated, modern, and chic. Cinco 5 is one of the best restaurants in South Bend. In my opinion the Mexican food is the real bright spot, but my friends who appreciate Asian food assure me that the Thai half of this establishment is absolutely on point. I hate to give them such a bad review because their food was excellent the first time we went but this weekend there were definite health code issues. 1. We were served guacamole that tasted spoiled. It tasted and smelled like spoiled chicken. We took one bite and couldn't eat any more. Complained to waiter and he was rude. He told me, 'maybe you just don't like guacamole. you probably don't know what good guacamole tastes like". 2. The waiter carried our spoiled guacamole (guacamole that my family and i had tasted) to another table and offered it to them as a 'free sample'. He specifically told the other table that it had been served to us but we didn't want it. The waiter told the table, 'don't worry they didn't eat out of it".... but we did! When I told the waiter that was against health code, he got rude again. Called health department on them first thing Monday morning.... Sad because the food is good but health practices are important! read more

We have been dying to try this for a while, usually not in South Bend. We arrived at 7:05 and had to wait around 15 minutes to be seated. We wanted to make the Cubs game at 7:35, so much for quick seating. The interior, I'm sorry was ugly. It's as if the restaurant remodels one piece at a time. Some parts were cute and some were old and rough. The bathrooms were in the most inconvenient locations. The service was quite slow, and it was a Saturday night so we definitely expected quicker times. Once we got our food it was amazing and our server was kind and helped us in any way he could. Overall it was a mediocre experience. The food is what saved the whole time. I'd like to go back again. read more

Don't be fooled by the crazy menu with Thai, Italian, Mexican, and American food! The menu is like a moms-n-pops Cheesecake Factory. Despite the variety, everything is really good here. I had the Chilaquiless, a recommendation from the server (and others on Yelp). Definitely a good choice. It's a fun place to bring a group because everyone will find something! The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic, too, which made for a fun experience. We were lucky to be there the night they had some live music, which was excellent. We will be back! read more

Cinco 5 is the place to be. The restaurant atmosphere is great, whether your looking to have a nice meal with family or hang out with friends. They have dancing twice a month and live music. CINCO 5 was an amazing meal. Looking at the menu before going you get confused when the menu has Mexican, Thai AND American food choices. However while my family and I all choose Hispanic choices, it did not disappoint at all but was fabulous. Definitely get the guacamole it was amazing and I heard good things about the enchiladas. I had the shrimp cocktail and it was very authentic and loaded with shrimp for the cost (tip- I asked for tortillas instead of crackers and made a few tacos with the shrimp). Only thing is while we went right at 5 when it was opening the service was not regular checkups- I actually had to go find our waitress to order an appetizer Of guac I forgot to order with the meal as I could not find her anywhere. But could be a one time things and due to just opening/it being slow. Overall I highly recommend! read more

I love that I can have authentic Mexican food one day and maybe the following visit I'm craving Thai food...it has variety without being overwhelming. The staff is friendly and courteous and I just love coming here. It has a little bit of everything and enough to satisfy different tastes. The food is good, especially the "jambalaya". But the description on the food should be more...well...descriptive. The jambalaya (under signature dishes) is described as chicken, shrimp, smoked sausage, bell peppers, onions, and rice. When I got it, the dish had everything as described and it was very good, but I think it would be important to change "smoked sausage" and "rice" to "chorizo" and "spanish rice" as the first two descriptions are too vague. If you run a restaurant that serves multiple types of rice, sausage, etc., you might want to specify what kind you're using in each dish. read more

Nice restaurant with a varied international menu from all over, good service, good prices in a good downtown location, opposite La Salle Grille. Decor is a bit basic. Free chips & salsa for four. The Sizzling Chicken Fajitas was the night's special for only $10 - good value! We also tried the Fish Soft Tacos, the Italian Spaghetti Carbonara with chicken, and the Fish Fajitas, which looked like whole boneless breaded-white fish laid on top of the sizzling onions and green & yellow peppers. We also got a side of French Fries. Shared dessert at the end was the fried banana and ice cream. All in all: good. Would definitely go again. Recommended. read more

Was in town for work and it popped up on yelp close to the hotel. You could almost walk right past it if you didn't know where to look. Has a very odd combination of Thai and Mexican foods, so I tried Thai. It was excellent, as a matter of fact it was so good I had to go back the next day and try the Mexican. Absolutely no complaints with it either. Make sure if you get the Mexican you ask for hot sauce. They make their own and it was fantastic. read more

Decided to try out this downtown restaurant for lunch. Although the service was good, the food was not. I guess the key would be to never order Thai food in a Mexican restaurant and never order Mexican food in a Thai restaurant. The waitress offered to bring us chips and salsa when we placed our drink orders. We didn't realize that there is a charge for this till we were presented with our bill. I ordered a Thai dish... steak with broccoli on a special Korean sauce... special meaning very sweet with a fishy taste. The steak was tough and chewy with a LOT of gristle. My friend took the server's suggestion and ordered the lunch tacos with pork. She took one bite and left the rest saying the pork was too dry. The server offered to bring her something different but my friend declined. Another South Bend restaurant crossed off our list as places to visit again or even recommend. Wow. And that is hard for me to say about a meal after nearly 40 years of international and domestic business travel. My first visit was for lunch. A diverse international constructed menu in the heart of downtown South Bend is just what this area needs with an excellent price point. Everyday has a special, with dollar tacos on Wednesday. I base my rating on the classic dish of Chicken Pad Thai for $7. Best ever, since it had the rare perfect ratio of meat to noodles and unheard of when you don't need to drown the dish in peanut sauce for some favor. The service was very attentive, but found out after the meal about the daily specials. Good thing, because I would have missed the Pad Thai. I look forward to many return trips. read more

Happily suprised. Ordered for delivery four tacos, a cheeseburger and a stir fry. Food came hot, each item was well packaged with no spillage and each item tasted as if it came from a restaurant that specialises in each type of food. It's a good, solid place for a quick delivery. They even had a mariachi guitar player that walked around and played classical music for the tables dining. I'd definitely recommend stopping by for the atmosphere, food and great service.
