I've said it once and I'll say it again and again. I know and love Mexican food. Chips and queso are my love language. One of my nieces had been telling me about Fiesta for years. She talked about it nonstop. No idea where she gets that. I finally made the time to try in back in October and I may or may not have made it a point to return every subsequent visit to South Bend. The service is wonderful! I hit it off with one of the servers on a visit and this past weekend we greeted with a hug. Talk about family! The vibe is everything you want in a Mexican restaurant - just look at the wallpaper and little rooms they set up for photo ops (that's why they have that right...? ;) Dream about queso. The tamales! I won't order a tamale just anywhere and Fiesta knows how to serve them up with that thick layer of cornmeal that takes it to the next level. I'll return again and again and take actual food photos. Food: I ordered Pollo Fiesta, was disappointed. The chicken portion were more than enough for 1 person but they are bland and thought. I have to smother them with the salsa that came with chips, added salt and pepper too. It was not worth it. I don't know with the other dish though. read more

Honestly food was good. Problem came when it came to the end. There was a few things that happened that can be chalked up accidents with our bill, but what made us super upset is they took my sons plate that he hadn't barely touched and threw it away. The table beside us got boxes but the server took it away so fast that we couldn't even say no. Didn't ask at all. My son has autism ADHD and eats super slowly and has to take breaks between. He barely touched a bite and it was thrown away. We asked him why the server did that and he just kind of stood there and said it's thrown away. Honestly we aren't planning to return after the vibe we got after everything. Also please ask before taking plates away. Now I have to deal with my son crying and upset his food is gone forever. Nice Mexican restaurant with authentic tasting food. We stopped in when we arrived at our hotel which is a good set up. The first impression is the decor and it is nice. The old fashion Mexican decor sets the ambiance and the restaurant is in the nicest little row of shops and eateries. The owners (I assume) were very helpful and gave us excellent service both on the phone and in the restaurant. Since it was a take out order we had specific specifications on how we needed our food packed and they were accommodating to that. Our rice was warm and cooked to perfection. The chimichangas were delicious and packed full of chicken. The burrito was also packed full of beans, meat, sauce and sour cream. Topped with queso cheese and was delicious as well. We had the queso cheese dip with our chips and it was amazing! Finally finishing off with a piece of strawberry cheesecake that finished off our meal. If you are in town and staying at the hotel there you are in perfect walking distance of enjoying a nice Mexican dish. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Happy dining! read more

First time dining here since they moved. Not impressed with service or speed at all. Arrived late afternoon with a reservation for 8ppl. They were not busy at this time. Ordered bevies. Took 35 minutes to get drinks!! One guest got her drink after her food! Food quality is ok, used to be great but now just ok. Two guest ordered Carne Asada tacos 1 American 1 Mexican style. The Mexican came out but never the 2nd order. When he asked he was told "the kitchen got confused by the order and thought it was a duplicate." No one has ever ordered 2 orders of tacos at the same table? The manager did offer a discount and a gift card to right the situation. Let me tell you about the carne asada- usually it's sliced steak. Fiesta Tapatia serves chopped chunks that didn't resemble carne asada. It was odd. Back to service, while waiting for drinks no one came to take our food order. Finally a guest asked another server if we could order and she did help. I was really hoping the place was as good as old location but was disappointed. The positive out if the negative is the margarita and salsa were tasty. With another mexican restaurant quality on the downslide I was really hoping Fiesta Tapatia would be a good alternative. This place was amazing, one of the best Mexican meals I've had in a long time. I went with the 2 Chimmie's one beef one chicken. They came out so crispy the entire top shattered when I cut it. A group of us tried this place. I had heard good things. The staff was friendly and you started with chips and salsa, and we placed our orders. I ordered steak and shrimp and asked to have the beans off the plate, and when I received my food, it had them on there. Others in the group had the same thing happen to them. One who doesn't like spicy food asked the server if the burrito they ordered was spicy and was told no. The food came out, and he ate a few bites, which was very spicy. One person in our party did not get his food, we let the waitress know and it took another 15 minutes to get his meal. By the time they served him the rest of us were done eating. I got the shredded pork tacos with the sauce that the taco shells are dipped into before cooking which were alright no problem there but when my partner and my friend ordered they got the same thing which they do at every Mexican restaurant. They ordered bed of fries, with queso on top and chicken and steak, while our friend just got the chicken. They brought out my food and then bring out 1 plate of fries with just queso. I said what's this? This isn't what was ordered. He then cuts me off from what I was saying and walks away. I see someone walking around and I ask if they are a manager."a man" He said he was and I explained to him the situation and our server comes back and cuts off the manager and me to explain the food is being remade. And the manager walked off before I could keep explaining what the issue was. Well after the server walks back I tell him. This is what was ordered. If you say you can make it why is it wrong and how was this so difficult. Why didn't you say that it was being remade before you rudely walked away from us as I was speaking to you. He said he had other tables to take care of. So does that mean I'm not a customer because you have other tables. Made us feel like we weren't important. By the time I finished my food they finally brought out my partner and friends food. Which was still wrong. Now there was just fries sitting next to some steak and chicken and didn't bring out the queso for one of their meals. But still charged us for it. I left and soon after called the establishment to talk with someone over the phone. This nice woman answers the phone and I ask if she was a manager or to put a manager on the phone. She said she's the only manager working at the moment. I said wait you don't have a male manager? She said no. I explained to her everything that happened and she gave us both refunds and apologized for the inconvenience and said she would be discussing this with the two employees. This place is still going strong! We ordered DineIn Delivery on a recent Saturday night and it did not disappoint. Dinner arrived in 35 minutes, was packaged well and piping hot. We ordered the queso-chorizo (would skip next time and just stick with the chips and salsa), chicken quesadilla, burrito gigante and carnitas. Everything was great and we will have leftovers for days! The chips arrived fresh and warm and you can't beat their salsa with tons of cilantro and just the right kick. Ordered a vegetarian lunch special to go. Waited over 25 minutes. Food was cold cheese was cold in the enchilada. They completely missed the shell for the tostada and the tamale was dry and cold. I also think they over charged me as I ordered a single side tamale and it cost over $15 for the lunch special. No drink. Not impressed and won't recommend or go back. We thought we would brave a Mexican restaurant in Illinois. Being from Texas we were disappointed. When they touted that yelp loved them, we were a little worried why they would mention that on door. It is an old Wendy's turned Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa is bagged and jarred no doubt. The kids liked the white cheese dip(queso) but i didn't. They ordered quesadillas which were not precut and were very basic. I had the nachos supreme very bland and my husband said the enchiladas were ok. I would never go here again. read more

Margaritas that actually have alcohol in them and taste great(guava highly recommended ); delicious chorizo queso, good chips that seem homemade, super good lunch special Al Pastor chilaquiles. Food was extremely bland (common theme in other reviews, the chips and salsa were the worst I've ever had from a restaurant (super thick unsalted chips with a watery tomato only tasting salsa. Meal was pretty poor too. Steak taco had 0 flavor and was so dry I had to pour the salsa on it to get it down. Picture it, a Tuesday evening of running around like a crazy person. I'm talking soccer practice, work meetings, errands. Then you realize it's TACO TUESDAY! So I went to my trusty Yelp app to find a new taco spot and found Fiesta Tapatia! First, our server was dressed up for Halloween, his face was painted like a Calavera! He was super helpful with the menu. There are multiple pages to the menu, it will take a very long time to try all the yummies (but that doesn't mean I won't try)! I chose my old faithful, carne asada tacos! I was not disappointed. You can order them with corn or flour tortillas, Mexican or American. I went all the way authentic and got the corn tortillas served Mexican style. They were delicious. So much so, I asked if they made the tortillas in-house, they do not, but I don't even care. I have to mention that they have a pretty big kids' menu, which was helpful when my niece (a picky eater) went with us. She even ate a whole taco without complaints! We Waited nearly an hour to be seated, then once we ordered our food, it took an hour and forty minutes to get our food, and even then my wife's dish was incorrect. I haven't updated Fiesta Tapatia for a long time- it's due. Fiesta Tapatia has been one of my favorite restaurants for 16 years! NOT my favorite MEXICAN restaurant, but my favorite restaurant PERIOD! They have always taken great care of me! The food has become a staple in my diet, I have really missed their food the few times I have been living elsewhere in the last 16 years! But, truth be told, I have noticed Fiesta Tapatia seems to be understaffed at times. I suspect the waitresses LIKE having fewer employees so they go home with more tips. O.K.- I GET that; to a point! When the service starts suffering because you only have two waitresses for the entire restaurant, WHEN IT'S BUSY, then you have to consider your customers over your employees desire to make fat tips. Yesterday I went in and there were two waitresses and a bus girl. They were busy; not every seat filled, but busy. I sat down in MY SPOT and politely waited to be waited-on. A waitress slid a menu down on my table about 10 minutes after I sat down. One waitress took my drink order and a different waitress FINALLY brought my drink 15 minutes after I had first sat down. All this time I had been eating the hard, dry chips I had been served 10 minutes earlier. SIDEBAR------Yesterday I was not served the normal, homemade chips as usual. These were definitely store-bought chips. They were hard, cold, and flavorless. I'M REALLY HOPING THIS WAS JUST A ONE TIME THING BECAUSE Fiesta Tapatia RAN OUT OF CHIPS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT! The store-bought chips were a big let-down!!! Approx. 15 minutes after I first sat down, a waitress took my order (steak fajitas Diabla). I also ordered some Pico De Gallo and Guacamole. It took 10 more minutes for these to be served. I like to eat these with my chips; like an appetizer. 35 MINUTES after I first sat down my steak fajitas showed-up! They were not sizzling-hot and fresh, like normal! It looked like they had been sitting around in the kitchen for a few minutes because Fiesta Tapatia was under-staffed. I get that sometimes restaurants are just un-expectedly busy. Sometimes employees don't show-up for work. Sometimes every customer in the county just decides to come-in all at once. But, I have noticed the reduction in staff for a while now. Yesterday just happened to be the worst lapse of service I can remember happening at Fiesta Tapatia. I need to mention that my favorite waitresses were not working this day. And the waitresses that were working were literally running back and forth to try and keep-up. But the owners should not allow a staffing shortage to ruin their customers dining experience. I'm not going to deduct stars, this time, because I truly love Fiesta Tapatia, but yesterdays stumble got my attention, in a bad way. OMG The BEST Mexican food I've ever had!!! I seriously wished I had found this place years before. I had their Fajita Picante today and it was soo good. I should have known the peppers in it would be spicy because the jalapeños that came in the salad plate were kind of spicy but I thought it would be mild. I drank like a gallon of water not realizing this was the REAL Jalapeños and ot some watered down fake jalapenos you can buy at Walmart. Even though I wanted to glue my mouth to an ice cube I thought it was just so good! My husband had their burrito deluxe and I tried some and again the flavor was so much better than any of the other places we've gone to.
