I ordered 3 tacos, a chicken, al pastor, and carne asada just to try it out when I found this little shop next to Nob Hill Foods (chuckled when I saw the cute yet tacky decorations at the front like what you would see at a party, pinatas and stuff) . I was greeted by a young lady at the front who could not be more unenthusiastic when taking my order. Prices are not bad $2.25/$1.99 for the tacos and even for burritos, not bad. However, you get what you paid for. I like to try my food first before adding any additional condiments on it to taste the flavors first. The meats were kind of disappointing, not that flavorful even with the hottest of salsa. In addition, every bite was so difficult because they didn't chop it up too well so it was big ol' chunks in each bite. They give you complimentary chips too but it's literally only...5 chips. Until very recently this was a different Mexican restaurant and just changed hands. I have not eaten at the Cinco de Mayo on Pacheco so I can't compare. But this restaurant is clean and nice. You order at a counter and they bring the food to you. Staff was friendly and the service was fast. Our food was really good. I had the chili relleno and it was fresh and hot and came with rice and beans. I had a crispy beef taco that was also very good. My son had the nachos and liked them a lot. Prices are extremely reasonable and you have the option of ordering half dinners, like one chili relleno instead of two on the chili relleno dinner plate. No beer yet, they are in the process of getting a license. Salsa bar with limes and jalapeños. We'll definitely go back. read more

OMG! Reminded me of Mission St in SF. It was not salty at all, and that's ok with me. You can always add, but you can't remove. I had a veggie burrito, tasty! I would go back, and plan on it. I live in Benicia, and our once fav Mexican restaurant is now being boycotted due to staff attacking patron who wrote a review about one of the staff. This place is a mess! My first time here and I asked the cashier what's the favorite order and she totally dissed the question. So I order tortilla chips along with many order and she said they "ran out". Ok today is Cinco de Mayo (also the restaurant's name). You think they will make more just for today. Really good authentic Mexican food and the prices are pretty reasonable. You get really large portions and the shrimp soft tacos are amazing. I'm a really picky eater so I haven't tried a lot but from what I have tried I can't complain. I've had the shrimp burritos, the crispy chicken tacos, the bean and cheese nachos and the chimichanga but with no meat in it . My new husband and I just got married yesterday afternoon, and after we had the reception, packed everything up and headed back home to Martinez. We were starving, as were our family members. We suggested Cinco De Mayo for dinner since it's close to our house, and the food is always great. So our whole family, 9 of us all together, including me in my wedding dress, piled into the restaurant and had a great dinner. But when I actually got my burrito, it was actually pretty good. Well packed, a good ratio of rice to other parts, not too soggy, and actually had some flavor to it. I've now been here a couple of times with other people and the comments are the same, "Not bad for the price."
