Cinco de Mayo is totally bland! There wasn't any seasoning in the beans and hardly any in the rice. They're salsas were like water. This place is great. Everyone has a smile on their face. The prices there are a little on the high side. food tastes good but not ten dollar good for the burritos. I ordered a chicken taco salad recently and they made it quick but the chicken was cold. it was fast but made me think that the chicken wasn't cooked recently and threw it in there and that's why it was so fast. I have never had a bad experience here. I usually come on my way home from work after a long commute and they've never failed me. I've been eating Cinco for over 2 years now and have not been disappointed. I love the original asada nachos with everything, they're the bomb! Seriously you got to try them, add some salsa verde and all the flavors are just on point... Talk about the special crispy tacos that are also delicious! They include chicken or beef with lettuce,cheese, sour cream, guacamole and tomato. The guacamole is the best I've tried from any Mexican restaurant. I have been a customer for years, but I think I am finally giving up on them. They regularly screw up my order (I'm not talking complex stuff. I mean I will ask for no sour cream, but they will include sour cream and leave something else out instead). The food is never hot. It is always barely warm or straight up cold. The portion sizes have shrunk significantly but the prices are the same. They give you chips with to-go orders, but barely; I counted and earlier tonight, they gave me four chips with my to-go order. Literally four. Service is slow too. I ordered a chicken burrito and a taco salad and I had to wait nearly 25 minutes to get my food, which was incorrectly prepared. I'm done, Cino. read more

Cinco de Mayo is our families de facto Mexican restaurant for take-out. Always consistently delicious! Can't go wrong with a BCR (bean rice cheese) burrito, carnitas soft tacos, and their super yummy crunchy chicken tacos supreme with sour cream and fresh guac. Pretty much a weekly event for us, and we've never been disappointed. Clean and friendly service, but small inside so I'd recommend take-out. read more

We've been coming here for a couple of years because my husband is a military veteran and we're at the VA down the way quite a bit, it has been okay for mediocre Mexican food and mediocre customer service. But today was the last visit we will make here, I was at the salsa bar and the serving spoon for one of the salsa's had fallen into the salsa tray. I didn't have to but I felt it was the right thing to do to not allow the spoon who has been handled by God knows how many customers just lay in the salsa and so I took it out and I took it over to the person counting the money at the cash register, it took her a few seconds to look up at me, finally she looked at me giving me a really nasty look. I told her about the spoon and she grabbed it out of my hand she didn't say thank you, absolutely nothing. If she doesn't like her job or customers she should at least try to fake it and put on a fake smile. I went to Cinco de Mayo and they made me wait until everyone in the restaurant had their food, then due to their ineptitude they only gave me 5 of 8 tacos. When I went back I was only told sorry dude. While the food is pretty good their service is sadly lacking. I have always left them a tip in the past, but those days are over! I will continue to go back and I will tell the manager or owner exactly why I don't ever leave them a tip and why I check every box to make sure that I have all my food. I mean I have thought their service was not that great, this sets new low in my opinion. I would not recommend this place unless you are willing to count everything. I like the shop on Central. Tostadas are good, chilie rennellos are very good. I get veggie burritos if I have to get food to go, and call it in. The food is not spicy enough, but the salsa bar has 3 levels of hot, and unless I'm eating in the car, that works. There are plenty of Mexican people getting lunch there, and breakfast, so it's not a gringo place. read more

All right people if you want a restaurant-style place this won't do. It reminds me of a High School Cafeteria where you line up, make your selections and then pay your bill. Although you can sit down at a table it is organized for takeout and that's how I'm judging it. First things first, this place beats the tortilla-chip-cater- to- Gringo places in the area hands down. I lived for years in a town that was 90% Mexican and 90% of the non-Mexicans were at least part Mexican. So genuine Mexican was not lacking in my culinary education. Mexican food is not the basura that most yelpers rave about. This place comes closest to Mexican-style Mexican food than any other place I've been to in the local area. For that reason, I'm giving it four stars. As they become more established in the area and I'm able to sample more of the menu I may change my opinion but for right now I'll say it's pretty good, inexpensive and with enough variety to suit just about any palate (except the Chevy's/Taco Bell Crowd). read more

Happened upon this place somewhat randomly when I had nearby business to attend to, hadn't looked it up on Yelp or anything. Ordered a carne asada plate and can of beverage for a total of about $14.50 or so. Got three pieces of thinly sliced steak charred to perfection, juicy, appropriately fatty, and fragrant. Also a nice mound of carmelized grilled onions, beans and rice, and a small scoop of fresh guacamole and salsa, and flour tortillas. I had only about 10 minutes to eat so didn't have time to fully savor it there on the spot but got a to-go container and brought it home. Just got finished reheating and eating it here at home. So, so tasty. Just a really, really good plate of well-seasoned and well-prepared food. Small place, fairly busy, nice little salsa bar with a few different selections, friendly service. I was craving Mexican so made a pit stop here for a Sope. Put my order in and Lady behind the counter was nice and rang me up. I thought the price was a little high for just one Sope and a drink but shrugged it off and paid. Well about 5 minutes later my food came and it wasn't what I ordered. They deliver me a super burrito; I tell the guy that was not what I ordered and he turns to lady and asks her. She says you ordered a super burrito I told her No I ask for a Sope. (I speak Spanish so I didn't butchered the word). She goes "Oops" and apologize and puts the order in for the Sope. I look at the menu and at my receipt I was over charged for it. Didn't get a refund or anything. Another 5 minutes later and I get my Sope. The food was okay nothing to special. I don't know if I would go back, but if I do I'll make sure they put in the right order and don't get charged for the wrong item. read more

This restaurant has the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. Their salsa is full of flavor, their soft chicken tacos are so amazing I can't even describe them, and their chilaquiles are equally as good. I plan to come here once a week and try everything on the menu. read more

The chips leave a little to be desired but I have been at this location twice, had soft tacos the first visit and super fiesta burrito the next visit. All very good but they did screw up the order the first visit (some how missed my sons order even though we watcher her write it down). But they were quick to fix the mistake. Worst BCR ever! Tortilla tasted like paper, beans & rice were tasteless, paid for extra cheese but the cheese was nonexistent , got extra sour cream which looked like sour cream but tasted like crap. Won't be going back. read more

My husband and I love this restaurant. We used to go to the other location quite often but this location is much closer to our home. I love love love their carnitas. Kinda crispy in places and oh so delicious. It always hits the spot. I discovered carnitas at a different restaurant and did not think they could be beat. I tried them at cinco and love them more here. Once I tried the carnitas burrito and was very disappointed. It was very greasy. I was very surprised because the carnitas plate is not greasy whatsoever. My husband loves the beef enchiladas. We eat at cinco about once a week. If I had written this a few days ago I would have given this place a 4 or 5 star. If you go on Monday they have a different cook. The food is not as good on that day. They now have paper containers to go. The soft tacos end up rubbery, Enchiladas stick and food ends up cold. So if you enjoy eating paper go for it. I was able to get half order of veggie nachos came with everything on it for like 4 bucks. cinco de mayo only comes with beans and cheese? and super comes with no sour cream or guac? its extra I mean come on now.. the cashiers are not friendly I bought a fountain drink on their board it says medium 1.85 large 2.25. she gives me a cup that is medium sized and charged me for a large. I asked her what is your medium size she says we only have one size? that's not right. If I had a choice to post negative stars, I would. Customer service is the most important thing, in my opinion, especially when operating a family run business. I was there tonight at 8:30 (they close at 9) and I ordered chicken taquitos. The girl at the register asked me to clarify what I meant, which was odd considering their menu clearly says "taquitos". I ended up being served fried hard shell chicken tacos. When I told the girl that's not what I ordered she said "yes it is". I explained I ordered taquitos (which I've ordered several times at this location) and she said "if you wanted the rolled ones you should've ordered flautas." I'm not Hispanic... Don't speak Spanish... But if your menu say "taquitos" there should be no reason for me to clarify my order. She asked if I wanted my order re-done but I declined because I was getting attitude from her and she made the error seem like it was my fault. Didn't want food remade with any "surprises" in it. Additionally, it was near closing time and another girl started stacking chairs on tables and sweeping (not a big deal).... However!!!... She was sweeping with high & broad strokes towards my table while we were still eating. Rude! I have to add that we were NOT the last customers in the restaurant. Restaraunt itself gets just about a perfect 5 stars that is except for the new white girl with glasses should probably be written up or something... I am a regular... 3 times a week some weeks... Everyone that works here is great besides the new girl that ruined my dinner last night. I stopped in at 8:30 to grab some tacos on my way home, when asked if i want a bag with my order i said yes as usual (most places ask when your paying now because they charge you a small fee usually 10 cents) and the last 50 times ive eaten here i have been given a plastic bag that my food lays flat in. When they called my name i walked up to the counter to pick up my order at wich point i experienced the new girls lack of restaraunt knowledge immediately where she tried to hand me 6 seperate tacos by themselves with no bag. I politely informed her of her mistake, she then with a bit of attitude grabbed the smallest paper bag they have (thats just big enough for a single burrito) and proceeded to jam and tetris my 6 tacos sideways and upside-down into it. By the time i got home all the grease had leaked out of most of the tacos and was now seaping through the paper bag. Dry greaseless tacos = ruined tacos. And of course it was just about 9 by this time, jokes on me i gues. Absolutely ridiculous who piles tacos into a bag sideways to leak all over everything not to mention ruin the food itself. Now please keep in mind this is only one new employee and everything else about the restaraunt is great. This is my favorite mexican restaraunt in the whole area and is also easily my favorite cinco location as everyone is really nice and i am always greeted with friendly service, something the concord location is drastically lacking i might add. read more

They are always so rude when answering the phone or even coming into the place. The girls who work there are so snotty. Didn't think it was so difficult to order NACHOS. They have the original which is with white cheese and beans and the "New" nachos is with meat, yellow cheese, tomatoes, and jalapenos. I just called to order the New nachos but with white cheese. The girl told me if I wanted white cheese I would have to order the original and be charged for all the extras i.e. tomatoes, jalapenos, meet etc. They are crazy!! Y couldn't I just get the New nachos with white cheese?! I hung up on her. It should not be this complicated to order food. On top of that they charge you for every little thing. What nacho have you ever ordered that has everything on it but then they charge you extra for sour cream AND guacamole. Last time I ordered the New Nachos they had no problem adding white cheese but they didn't give me any meat and said I didn't pay for meat. What?! I paid for the "New" nachos that comes with meat. The supervisor guy was rude to he checked my receipt without even acknowledging me and saying sorry and said "oh looks like she did pay for the meat" SMH I WILL NEVER come here again. Poor service and NOT for their customers. They are a new business and took the place of CHAVINDAS. I miss CHAVINDAS. This new place will not last here in Martinez if they keep charging for every little thing. GO TO "LOS PANCHOS" instead. read more
