I ordered a pick up of 12 tacos for 5 people today. I was getting condiments for five people. I got 4 sauces and 2 pico de gallo for the chips. I wanted to get some radishes, lime and jalapeños so I asked for two small snack bags. The woman at the register told me she could only give me one. I said I don't want the jalapeños in the bag with the radishes & lines. She said the owner said they are only allowed to give one snack bag per customer. I told her I bought food for 5 people and she said that is the rule she has to follow so she can't give me another bag. I spent over $50 so I don't understand why I couldn't get a few jalapeños. She was also very rude. Even though they wouldn't give me anything to put the jalapeños in I said thank you all, before leaving, to all three of the workers and they just looked at me with discussed and said nothing. I was very polite as I always am at any restaurant or establishment I enter but was treated poorly. I really don't write reviews but these lady's made me feel awful. The food is good and I with many of my coworkers, who work at Contra Costa County Public Health, have eaten here. Those of us who are African American have shared stories of poor treatment. I think enough is enough for me. I won't suggest we have lunch here anymore. It doesn't feel good spending money at a place that isn't welcoming. They never even give a smile to us when we come in no matter how much I smile. This place used to be good. My go to spot. Not anymore. It got watered down. I got a shrimp burrito and it's suppose to come with grilled onions peppers and shrimp. Nothing about it was grilled. By the end of it, there was a pool of water in my plate. Felt like the veggies and shrimp were just sitting in water and they I just put it together with little to no effort. Even the workers they got going in there are subpar. They used to have the same two ladies and for whatever reason they hired a bunch of kids they don't know what they are doing half the time. I feel like they got too big with the amount of locations they have now. Good for them but it certainly feels like quantity over quality now. And as soon as I unwrapped that foil, I realized I had made a good decision in visiting Taqueria Extra. (Or, accepting an invite to eat with a friend there.) The tortilla was perfectly browned, the contents were the perfect culmination of flavors, and the price was right. They have plenty of salsas to choose from, but my preference is that mild salsa verde adorned with a squeeze of lime because duh. The staff are all pretty friendly and willing to help if you have questions or need something extra. The restaurant itself is cleanly, spacious, and inviting. I'll be back for more! This place is super solid! I've only gotten take out so I can't vouch for the in-store experience. I get food from here probably 3 times a month... Mostly Tacos but occasionally a Burrito... My only gripe is the way the onions for tacos are cut... they are cut large and slide out of the taco. But otherwise, this food is amazing. They are fast, the food rules, and they are very nice at the counter. I have been here at least 25 times... I get mostly tacos to take home but occasionally a burrito! Everything I've gotten here has been great! Never has there been a mistake in my order, or anything below my expectations. That rules! In this area (Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg, Antioch, Walnut Creek and closely beyond) there are so many amazing taco spots! But this rivals my all time favorite "Los Tacos De Pancho"!!! The Martinez location is better than Walnut Creek, plus there is plenty of free parking! Get some tacos and enjoy! read more

New fave neighborhood grub. They have really yummy asada super burritos, literally as big as my arm (see pic). Super burritos has quac and sour cream! All orders get a small bag of chips with it, something I appreciate. They have a very nice salsa bar that is self serves. You can take as much as you want. They have it labeled from mild to spicy and include jalapeños , limed and carrots for garnish. Their pico de gallo and Verde salsa is pretty spicy, but I absolutely love it and drink it up. They do close at nine on weekends which I think is a little bit early. Apparently, they have a really good Taco happy hour, but it's unclear from their website and inside the restaurant when it is and what the hours actually are. I've been to this shop twice now and the food is fantastic. Burritos: I ate the steak super burrito. It was loaded with meat and all toppings. Tacos: I tried a few different tacos, but their street tacos were actually my favorite. Pro tip: when getting the tacos, order a side of guacamole! Great lunch spot. I typically get a burrito with 1/2 buche and 1/2 tripas. The burrito and meats are excellent, and there's a great selection of salsas and other condiments. Their pickled jalapenos, carrots, and onions have great flavor and acidity. I like that there's a little crunch to it, and that it's not too soft like other places. This could be a 5 star, but I just cannot get over the customer service! From the moment you walk in the staff already looks super inconvenienced by just your presence. Lots of eye rolling and just all around poor customer service to the point I don't want to come back. That said- (and this is why I gave the extra star, otherwise it would be a solid 1 star)- is the food and sauce. It's good. I like it better than the other taquerias in that area. But I definitely avoid this place when I am low energy, because the employees are incredibly draining and bland. I almost want to apologize after I place my order. Like "hey, can I order a steak burrito and a soda, here take my money. I'm so sorry i even inconvenienced your day, please don't mess up my food". A simple hello and thank you without eye rolls and being dismissive would go a long way! The restaurant is decently clean but the bathroom air freshener is a bit strong, can almost smell it in the dining room. I will wait a few months and try again- who knows? I somehow never noticed that this place was tucked away in the Lucky shopping center - usually when I'm getting groceries I'm trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. On the day we came here, my husband and I smelled the food from across the parking lot and decided we needed whatever they were cooking. We're so glad we came, because Taqueria Extra is a gem in that parking lot! The restaurant is pretty large with an outdoor patio that looked closed, likely due to bad weather. Lots of fun decorations and places to sit, which is nice when you want to eat in. I ordered the Chile verde dinner and my husband got quesabirria tacos. Both were amazing, and the Chile verde was enough for multiple meals... I still ate it all in one sitting though. The self-serve salsa bar is awesome with a pretty wide variety of salsas to choose from. We'll definitely be back when we're craving Mexican food! read more

I rarely venture out to Martinez but this place was worth it. There is another location in downtown Walnut Creek but parking is difficult. Martinez location has plenty of parking. I tried the shrimp and California super burrito. Both were really good. Great flavor, decent size, and they were ready fast. The there is plenty of seating inside and outside. During Happy Hour, you can get 3 street tacos for 5 dollars which is a great deal. Unfortunately, the tacos have mostly sauce and the sauce is extremely sweet and sour. We couldn't taste the actual meat and so all the tacos tasted the same. I recommend the combo plates because they have tasty rice and pinto beans. Hardy dish.
