I've lived in Mt. Washington for 38 years, but my tenure here is ending, in large measure due to…read moreLunken Airport. I live about two miles from the airport and the incessant noise is intolerable. FIVE flight schools operate out of Lunken now, and people who are taking flying lessons mostly seem to be on the same practice loop. That means that the loud drone of airplanes is a constant feature of living here and it greatly diminishes quality of life. In looking for where I will move next, a high priority is to be as far away from airports as possible.

What a beautiful, historic airport! My family and I attended the festival over the weekend. My grandfather, who attended with us, told us how he would catch flights from Lunken when he was younger. Some other bits about Lunken's history, from its website: * Columbia, now the area occupied by Lunken Airport, became the first settlement in the Cincinnati area. * In 1927, Charles Lindbergh made his historic non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean. He lands at Lunken airfield to and from New York to refuel where he is mobbed by well-wishers. * The Flamingo, one of the first all metal monoplanes built in America, is produced at Lunken by Metal Aircraft Company. * In 1930, formal dedication of Lunken Airport takes place. A three-day celebration includes notables such as Howard Hughes, Jimmy Doolittle, Freddie Lund, Cincinnati Air Corps Reserves and Jean Harlow. Lunken Airport is dedicated as the largest municipal airport in the world. * In the 1940s, American Airlines is born at Lunken Airport. * In 1964, The Beatles arrive at Lunken Airport for their concert at Crosley Field. I wish we had had a chance to go inside the airport when we were there. We'll have to do that another time.

This last time, I called the day before and asked. I was told that yes, the truck was washed and cleaned and even had running boards. She had it in the computer for us. This really pissed me off because my wife called yesterday to double check about running boards and availability and was told yes it was already there and ready to go and did have running boards. Then 2hrs before picking it up today got a call say they didn't have it and tried to substitute for another vehicle. I was in the rental business for many years I completely understand shit happens but the outright lie is what did me in. Avis had what we needed and took great care of us. If you have to use Enterprise DO NOT USE THE TROY LOCATION!!!! Update: Chris M. I tried to contact you was on hold for 5 min. My reservation shows cancelled because I call the Vandalia office to see if they could help the lady there said it was canceled and she said Troy shouldn't have canceled so fast. From my experience Troy canceled to make it look like we ( the customer )no showed so it doesn't reflect on the branch that they tried a bait and switch on us. I know the motto rent what we have not what the customer reserved.
