I had found a discount on http://wlwt.half-offcincy.com for a $30 Pioneer Discovery Intro Flight (normally $100). I figured this would be a good baby-step towards skydiving, and you can't beat THAT deal. After parking in the lot across the streeet, we pushed the intercom button and were buzzed in (always a VIP feeling!). We were greeted by the instuctor, Mark, who did a quick tutorial of the ins-n-outs of the plane. I got in the pilot seat, Mark rode shotgun, and my fiance got in the back (no additional charge for him to ride). I got to steer the plane a little during pre-takeoff taxiing, and do some turns and ascents/descents in the air. Totally different experience than a commercial airplane! It was a gorgeous day and the views were awesome. It was a *little* shakier than a Delta flight, but in a "wheeee!!" kinda way :) I am now the proud owner of my very own flight log, with one flight under my belt. Another bonus... about a week after, I got a Thank You card in the mail. The front was a picture of my fiance & me standing by the Cessna we rode in. They're supposed to be offering another online deal some time, so keep an eye out! read more

This place is an absolute disaster. Right on par with Flamingo down the street. Very poor organizational skills with very little consistency between instructors and management. Their students average more than 100 hours and at least a year to get a PPL. A real flight school is just 10 miles east at Clermont County Airport. Do not waste your resources with this sad excuse for a flight school. read more

Very cool place my wife took me on a flight around the city and the landmarks and landscaping was just breathtaking from above I always knew Cincinnati was a beautiful place but to see it birds view was even more amazing we plan to go back for a night around town in the SKY!!! read more

I use Lunken Flight Training Center for all my pilot training and couldn't be happier. What makes them different than others in the area: -Extremely well maintained and kept aircraft. This is really a huge issue. Would you want to learn how to fly in a plane that wasn't tip top shape? Since they have FlightLogix in the same hangar, all their planes are constantly being maintained. -Great instructors. I use Justin as my instructor, have since my first hour. He's the kind of guy who after a lesson calls you back later that night to make sure you understood everything, and if not, he rehashes the lesson. I've flown with their other instructors, and they are also very thorough! -Great Location. When I first decided that I wanted to learn to fly I took a look at others around the area, some at smaller airports north of downtown. Working in downtown, and living in Covington, I can get to the airport in 20 minutes or less. Plus, being located at a towered airport I don't have that 'fear' of talking with ATC that some students get when they train at smaller airports. In fact, I love talking to ATC. Extremely beneficial for when you fly to bigger airports. -Very Clean Facility. The school itself is kept in great condition and is very clean. I rather enjoy hanging out there and studying. -Martha. Her name is Martha Lunken, and she is considered a legend in the aviation industry. She's the check airman for LFTC, and can often be seen around the school / hangar. My time with Lunken Flight training Center was very good. I enjoyed the flying, and the rental aircraft they have on hand are in good condition and well maintained. I felt like the instructors were very knowledgable, and I never had a bad experience while flying. I never felt pushed or pressured, I also never felt like I was being purposely held back. I worked at what I felt was a good pace for me. The only complaint I had, and I expressed this to the instructors, was that the school relied on a self taught ground school. The knowledge you get in this course will not keep you from being able to safety operate an airplane with your instructor on board. It will however ill prepare you to pass your knowledge exam and check ride. The lack of actual classes and the ability to ask questions that would make it easier to comprehend, leave the onus on the student. If you are not the type of person who does well with being self taught on complex issues, I recommend either taking a course elsewhere for your ground school, or finding someone who can teach you. I've personally struggled with trying to learn some of the more complex concepts that are expected of a pilot when taking their knowledge test or their check ride. Overall, this is a great school, with excellent customer service. My only complaint, is their lack of formal ground school training. read more

We flew into Lunken Field on the Friday before Labor Day weekend. We were flying on an extended trip around the country and looking forward to seeing a Cincinnati Reds ballgame on Friday evening. As we were putting the plane away, we noticed that two small screws were missing from a plate covering our air filter. Likely not a big deal but disconcerting nonetheless. The good folks at Signature Aviation put us in touch with the Maintenance Department at Lunken Flight Training Center. Greg and another mechanic came over, took a look, removed the plate and told me that he would take care of things that evening. I asked how I could arrange to pay. He said that they would not take payment but wanted me to think of them if I made it back. All of this when I am sure that these gentlemen were interested in starting their Labor Day holiday. Here's the thing: these gentlemen embrace the spirit of the aviation community. If you are considering flight training, do not pass go...do not hesitate...put your trust into those who understand who pilots are, why we do what we do, and embrace all that is the glory of flight.
