Light at the end of the tunnel!!!

Even though I found my bike to have a flat tire didn't discourage me from walking this 5 mile long trail. Alright so it almost did, just a bit. Walking 5 mile trail can be quite intimidating. Moving onward, enjoying the views of the runway and of course nature was motivating! For some odd reason, what kept popping in my mind was a song by Less Than Jake..... Cuz I would walk 500 miles And I would walk 500 more To be the man who walked 1,000 miles To fall down at your door Surrender Surrender Surrender

We visited Lunken Airport for the Lunken Airport Days and really enjoyed looking around the airfield and enjoying watching planes - new and old- take off, land, and fly overhead! The exterior of the historic airport was neat to admire, and the staff was friendly and helpful as they guided us out of the way of the planes that were actively shifting places during the event, switching places for display and for going for a flight. The signature plane was That's All, Brother, which we were told led the main airborne invasion of Normandy. We were fortunate to get to see it take off and fly overhead - what a piece of history! There were several other historic planes, as well as a fire rescue plane that is used for training, and had the interesting addition of a top propeller to aid in water landings, as a helpful staff person explained when we inquired. We would love to visit again and check out the interior of the airport!

Great place! I love to do my runs here, eat at the Sky Galley restaurants and watch the planes land. They also have shows every once and awhile on vintage planes which is a great experience and great opportunity for photo ops. I love how old and vintage this place is.

This place may be an airport, but it has so much more to offer. It's a very small commercial and private airport. The majority of the planes that fly in and out are private and chartered flights. When political dignitaries such as the president fly into the area, they tend to land their planes here. Lunken airport also offers a bike path, a giant playground, a half pipe, driving range, tennis courts, and a state of the art golf course. The bike path is really enjoyable. It goes back in the woods by the Little Miami River and is so peaceful for biking, roller blading, walking, or jogging. It circles the entirety of the airport at a total of around 6 miles. I had a lot of fun at the playground growing up. It's got everything a playground should have, but also has trucks and planes that kids can climb on! A few of the buildings feature some really beautiful art deco architecture and decorations. One such place is the building that holds the Sky Galley Restaurant. Fancy a day outdoors with lots of different activities? This is the place to go!

This, my friends, is an airport. When we, as a people, first took flight and broke the bounds of gravity, this is the place we hung out at and made it happen. Located within 5 miles of downtown Cincinnati, Lunken was Cincinnati's main airport for many years providing the Queen City with a convenient and (at the time) modern airport. At the time the property was first donated to the city it was the largest airfield in the world. Over the years she has seen aviation go from it's infancy, to it's hey-day, and she has the scars and stories to prove it. Her art-deco walls are painted in beautiful art and drenched in history. From the 1937 flood that filled all the way up past the terminal's ceilings to landings by past, current, and future presidents, to the hero's welcome offered Lindbegh, The Beatles, and Ken Griffey Junior, Lunken has been and continues to be a place of celebration. Today, the majority of traffic that Lunken sees is private pilots and executive travel, although charter flights are starting to become more popular as rates at the local international airport as well as security lines are moving people away. With easy parking located across the street, people are seeing the benefit of using smaller airports rather than their much larger cousins. Lunken is also a great place to learn to fly. There are a couple schools on the premises (Lunken Flight Training Center, Flamingo) and both of these schools also offer scenic flights around Cincinnati. With a shop in the terminal that sells general aviation necessities (maps, headsets), Lunken is a fantastic place to stop by for pilots. Other than air traffic, Lunken is also a great place for exercise. A 5 mile loop around the airport offers great views of planes to those who wish to walk / run / bike / rollerblade the loop. There is also a pretty decent 18 hole golf course adjacent to the airport that is run by Cincinnati Recreation (Which means cheap green fees). Of course, as with any great airport, there is also great food. The Sky Galley offers fantastic food and drink at prices that aren't sky high (pun intended). Check their yelp reviews. One of Cincinnati's finest gems, Lunken will continue to keep our eyes and minds towards the clouds for years to come.

    ArtWorks 21st celebration!

The walking trail has too many black snakes. Therefore not a great place to take your dog.

My grandmother took a cab from a Cincinnati airpot to her apartment (a 10 minute drive or 4.2 miles, to be precise) and was given a bill of around $20.00, nothing out of the ordinary. Somehow "Chris", using his Square app, managed to end up charging her $125.00, which she only found out about the next day. As far as we can tell there are only two ways he could have done this. He either input the incorrect amount himself or my grandmother accidentally added a "custom tip" (which seems unlikely given her eyesight and understanding of apps) and he did not have the decency to correct such a gargantuan error. Shame on you for taking advantage of the elderly! Upon reporting this error to the company more than one member of the staff admitted they were at fault and told my father the difference would be credited back to her account. Several phone calls later and my grandmother has still not received the money. The credit card company has also declined reimbursing her for it as the taxi company apparently claimed (to American Express) my grandmother was at fault. The owner "Dave" was supposedly too sick to call my father back (a tactic used by evasive business owners and lazy high schoolers), and now perhaps intends to put off my grandmother until she gives up or forgets. What kind of company behaves this way? Who would employ a cab driver that intentionally rips-off old women? Oh wait, I'll tell you! Elite Taxi, your local, crooked, unfriendly cab company.

So I did but it went straight to vm. and then it did again a few minutes later. When I called back from another number they answered right away but said maybe they'd have someone in our area in about an hour. An hour. We only needed to go from Mt. Airy to North Avondale. It's nearly 8 miles but that's not bad. We ended up having to pay a Lyft driver way too much for a 8 mile trip, even though I'm thankful he was there and was a safe driver, etc., and I know these taxi companies are complaining about Lyft and Uber taking their business, but then they don't even seem like they care for your business, or even block you instead of just say we don't have anyone avenue so please try someone else. Basic respectful customer service, even if you can't or don't want to take a customer, really isn't that hard. Didn't feel respected mostly from knowing I got blocked on the first call I made. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT TO ANYONE ELSE. I'd probably still actually recommend, just because it's not a national probably billionaire owned chain with who knows what ultimate agenda for us "little people", and their other reviews are good, but whatever dude. Glad I'm just visiting plus I've only had to uber or Lyft like 3 times total. The predatory nature of the rideshare pricing makes it so I'll keep trying for a traditional taxi cab type service when the need arises and hope someone comes through as a good taxi sometime.
