She gave one pillow to my dad and the other to me as Christmas gifts. Shortly thereafter, we discovered that the paint used to stencil the letters and numbers on the pillow was water soluble and wiped off with a damp paper towel. It would have been impossible to wash or even spot clean the front of the pillow case without also removing the stenciling. Today, well beyond the 14-day return policy stated on the receipt, my mom and I brought the pillows back to the store to see if there was anything we could do to protect the paint on the front of the pillow case (Scotchgard wasn't going to cut it). As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by an associate. We briefly explained our concern to the associate, and then without even batting an eye or even checking our receipt he apologized, stated that he was unaware of this issue, and immediately offered to exchange the pillows for other merchandise. We ended up selecting different Buffalo-themed pillows. Room offers beautiful contemporary furniture and home decor, and after spending time looking around the store and observing the quality of their merchandise, it's obvious that the faulty pillows were an anomaly and in no way typical of the products sold by Room. My mom and I were both impressed with this customer service experience and appreciate the attention we received.

Normally, I ask for delivery of my items, but this time I wanted to check out the store front. I walked in and was immediately drawn in. This store set up is great. It is welcoming and homey and comfortable. I like the ceiling. Check that out. Olivia, the dog, I finally got to meet so that was nice as well. They've torn the daily prices off the big signs, but it's supposedly 3 dollars on Tuesdays. There's a terms and conditions posted on the front door. No opening things without a team member (if you can find one), no refunds. We maneuvered around a pile of mismatched carts through the cleaner half of the store stocked with higher price kitchen gear and beauty products to the back room bumping radio tunes. There were tables littered with taped up online returns, most from marketplace type vendors based off the labels we tried to decipher off the side. (The internet helps typing in some of these titles to help the guessing game.) I noticed some packages still had the names of the original buyers on them as well. We shuffled through it all, finding mostly junk. I may have been a bit more picky than the others, only getting a dish rack that comes with no assembly instructions. I think it caught the cashier off guard, as I set it on the counter and waited two minutes before he realized I was buying it and that he needed to set his phone down. I paid my 3 cash with a 20 and he struggled to make change for another solid minute, mumbling at us. My mates were able to pay by card, albeit with a convenience fee. When I had excused myself to the bathroom, I found that there was no soap and no towels available. Ended up shaking my hands to dry them off. I'm shaking my head too, that no, we will not be coming back. Maybe it would be different on a restock day at the higher price, but with Goodwill and Savers right up the road, this traffic battle ain't worth it.

However, there are tables of boxes of different sizes and then in the same table there are open packages of items. Most boxes aren't marked with what's inside of them. The only way to find out is to take the boxes to a counter where staff will open them for you. I understand that people are careless and probably leave things a mess. But if this is the only way to see what's inside the box, why wouldn't they take the time to actually write what is inside of the box before you take it over? I walked past so many items that probably were great, but I really did not want to stand in line and wait for their staff to open up every box. The pricing leaves something to be desired as well. I understand that there are discounts according to the day, but you would go in on a Thursday and get the items for $.50, and on a Friday the exact same items are $12? Seriously?
