If you're wandering through Riverside and need a caffeine fix that actually hits different, you have to stop by Cicada Coffee. You can find them tucked away right behind Cultivate Jax. This spot has such a cool, effortless vibe, but the heart behind it makes it even better, it's family-owned and operated by a mother and her two daughters. You can really feel that local love the moment you walk in. I grabbed their Shakerato, and let me tell you, it's a total game changer. It's essentially an Iced Shaken Cortado, but they level it up with their in-house smoked vanilla. The balance is incredible; you get that bold espresso kick smoothed out by a subtle, smoky sweetness that is pure magic. It was frosty, delicious, and absolutely perfect for a warm Jacksonville afternoon. Supporting a local, family-run business while sipping on one of the best iced drinks in the city? That's a win-win.

We're always on the hunt for new coffee in JAX, especially places that make their own syrups. Cicada ticked all the boxes for coffee - delicious, cool vibe, great staff. Can't wait to come back!

I don't always love a minimal coffee menu but at Cicada it really just works! I love the tucked away spot in the back. It's a simple vibe. And the customer service 10/10! I definitely will be returning more than one time!

Cute coffee spot, clean and bright inside. Ordered a matcha and one of their specialty coffees cicada alley. More expensive than other local spots and the cup size is small with too much ice. Overall the coffee was delicious and the sweet almond cold foam was chefs kiss. Service was friendly and inviting. Next time I'd ask for no ice so I can really get more of the coffee flavor profile.

It is very hidden - it's basically a shed down a driveway. It one small area , very strange. Limited menu. Got a mocha cold brew. It was fine. One size of drinks as well, one the small side. They did have some outdoor seating.

Really great coffee stand tucked inside Cultivate. I loved the Cicada mocha - I rarely go for anything other than drip coffee or cold brew, but the friendly folks behind the counter described it as something different, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of bay leaf. It really was unique! I'll definitely be back to try more soon, and to browse around the shop as well.

It's just a quick scooter ride from my boat, making it an easy destination whenever I need great coffee and an equally great atmosphere. The staff are the most welcoming, professional, customer-focused, and genuinely personable team I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am always glad I stopped in. The shop isn't large but it is a warm and inviting with comfortable indoor seating as well as a pleasant outdoor shaded seating area in a great neighborhood on Herschel Street. Coffee nerds will appreciate the beautiful Victoria Arduino Black Eagle espresso machine, a fitting centerpiece for a café that clearly takes its craft seriously. I also appreciate that they still offer 2% milk as an option as many coffee shops have eliminated it in favor of only whole milk and alternative milks, so it's a welcome choice for those of us for whom whole milk is no longer an option. Most importantly, Social House Coffee is one of the few cafés I've visited that truly embodies the "third place" philosophy and is a place you want to spend time. Whether you're stopping in for a quick espresso or settling in for a while, it feels like a community rather than just another coffee shop. If you're anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the kind of place that reminds you what a neighborhood coffeehouse is supposed to be.

I was there for a Cheeselandia event and I must say they picked a lovely spot. As soon as I walked in I noticed all of the plants scattered throughout the space. And the presence of the plants instantly gave me a peaceful feeling. I took home a piece of cake as well as a piece of spinach quiche. Both were delicious but my favorite was the quiche. The piece was big enough for me to have it two days in a row. Service was friendly and inviting. There was also a huge patio and a parking lot. They host regular events such as trivia night which I learned from reading the flyer on the bathroom wall. And they are open later than a regular coffee house. I suggest stopping in and checking them out!

The chai specifically was made from the generic tazo concentrate served in every chain coffee shop. The ambiance of the store was very nice tho. I loved the plants draped all around & the fact that they were for sale. Lastly, I also wish there was better seating there was one couch but otherwise you're stuck with hard plastic chairs and tables inside. The space is not good for lounging for an extended period of time.

When we ordered, he mumbled back and forth and seemingly didn't understand our relatively simple order, which was a bagel, egg and cheese sandwich and a PBJ on a bagel. My wife also got an iced coffee drink. The man at the counter had an attitude with us the whole time, especially after my wife asked for an iced coffee rather than the hot coffee he served. He was huffing and slamming doors and dishes, and it was really unnerving. The most egregious part was the cost. For the above three items, this man actually charged $31. I didn't even bother to argue with him and just paid the tab. There's no way we weren't overcharged, but I'm equally certain he would have resisted any attempt to examine the bill or gotten angrier... over nothing. We didn't say anything or do anything to this man other than place the order and return the hot coffee, which was his mistake. The whole atmosphere was uncomfortable, and I will strongly recommend no one visit Old Cup cafe. You will be ripped off, or retaliated against, and you will not enjoy the experience. Places like this need to just go out of business, and I can't imagine they're long for this world with so many better and more affordable spots in Avondale. Head to Southern Grounds and avoid Old Cup at all costs.
