The service was fine, no issues there. I've eaten Italian food all over the world and it's one of my favorites, but this restaurant really missed the mark. The dishes tasted more like store-bought sauces tossed together than true Italian cooking. It's not awful, but it's definitely not authentic. Nestled in sleepy Waynesburg, Ohio, Cibo's has some of the best pasta I've ever had. Since we were visiting hubby's family in the area, hubby wanted to come here. I immediately liked the mom and pop feel of this place. (although the ceiling needs a little something to break up the vastness.) Well priced for what you get. The dinner salad was basic, no frills. I had the lasagna and it was good. It was filling and I even had some left over. The gnocci was homemade and tasty. The red sauce seems to be what they are known for. It was very good and I wish I had sonedor the rolls. I thought that the rolls were a little on the dry side. I would have liked to have warned rolls and melted butter brushed on them. If we are in the area, I hope that we can stop by again. Wonderful Italian restaurant in what was once a movie theater. Good food and plenty of it. Heavenly huge bread rolls, but wish they were served warm. I read the reviews, and one thing is clear: those who think this is a "good authentic Italian restaurant" have never been to a "good authentic Italian restaurant". Head to little Italy in Cleveland and you'll change your mind fast. Or down the street from me is Lockkeepers, Corleone's, and D'Ag. Don't try those restaurants though if you plan to return to Sibos...it just might ruin you. For a mom and pop shop in a small town though, it passes as edible. With a large open room with no dividers, it is hardly a pleasant atmosphere. If I was from a small town, I'd probably Iove it....especially since you'd have to drive 20-30 miles to find a decent restaurant! My parents love it. So I'll keep coming to see my parents...but don't think I'm happy about driving 75 minutes for the food when real Italian food is 15 minutes away. read more

I have been here twice while visiting my best friend over the last few years and both times I left feeling full and happy with a doggy bag in hand (which says a lot for me.) I grew up in Waynesburg and Cibo's still has my favorite Italian ever. Also their house salad dressing is very tasty! It's a neat atmosphere, as it used to be a theater. Great for large groups, as they have a lot of table-size variety.Mid-range prices, $10-$15 for an meal. Each time I go back to Waynesburg, I always get take out ravioli, half cheese/half meat. Welcome to Cibo's "fine" Italian dining, in the "Spaghetti Capital of the World", Waynesburg, Ohio. (I know some Italians who may take exception with that claim) I have eaten at Cibo's three times, not because I wanted to, but because I had this place forced on me as a location for family birthday parties. Ciao's sign boasts as being "fine dining", I've eaten at fine dining Italian restaurants and this place is about as far from fine as you can get. Upon arriving at Cibo's I was presented with a basket of their "famous" homemade dinner rolls. The rolls were cold, bland & tasted of nothing. When My waitress arrived I asked her at what times the risotto is served. (most fine dining Italian restaurants serve risotto at the top and bottom of each hour) my waitress had no idea what risotto even was. (my dreams of fine Italian dining were dwindling quickly) So for my main I ordered another classic Italian specialty, veal parmesan. What arrived was disappointing once again. The veal patty was one of those shaped, breaded & frozen portions that I can get from any wholesale distributor like Gordon Food Service (GFS) or others. Since our party was quite large I looked around the table and noticed that the popcorn shrimp, the chicken tenders, the chicken parmesan, the cheese sticks, the crab cakes, and the calamari. All of these items seemed to be of the same wholesale distributor quality. My wife ordered salmon and a salad. The salad was just a bunch of iceberg lettuce thrown on a plate and drown in sliced canned olives. The grilled (frozen) salmon was dry, unseasoned, and tasteless. This place may have been the standard for Italian dining in the 1980's but the menu is dated, all of the way down to the red pepper and canned parmesan cheese shakers on the table. In the restaurant business, you move with the times, or the times move you. I believe the american palate has become more sophisticated over the years and has come to expect more out of a "fine" dining experience, but that would be hard to tell from the clientele I saw at Cibo's. I think they would have been happy with replacing the tables with a pig trough, filled with spaghetti and garnished with a couple of dead dogs. When I think of FINE Italian dining I think of FRESH! Even a chain restaurant like Carrabba's is way closer to fine dining than Cibo's. There I can expect freshly cut herbs in my extra virgin olive oil that is used as a dip for my FRESH HOT bread, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese is freshly grated at the table and the lobster ravioli is so thin delicate it makes you want to cry! I have had hospital cafeteria food that was better than this place. On a recent visit to a hospital I was shocked to see that they had a exhibition cooking station where food was being cooked fresh and to order. (maybe Cibo's should pay them a visit and get some pointers.) Judging by all of the 4 & 5 stars this place gets, I guess most of the people are content with mass quantities of low priced crap. read more

This was the "worst restaurant. I have ever encountered. It does not rate a star period. This is listed as a fine dining family owned restaurant . They should take pride in cooking homemade. The rolls were cold and looked store bought. The pasta did not appear homemade. I chose salmon and salad. The salmon was from Gordon food store ;just a square block with NOTHIiNG else on the plate.. It was Atlantic salmon. Which is farmed and not fresh. No eye appeal, no seasoning, sauce,nothing. So I guess it was thrown in microwave and voila. My salad was also horrible. Just a plate of lettuce, not shredded or cut up, just wedges that I had to cut as well as two wedges of unripe tomatoes that needed cut Then to top it off about 40 BOTTLED green olives that I had to remove because I do not like olives From a bottle . It was disgusting. I had such a stomache from the lettuce. I love a variety green salad. Like spinach. Arugula , carrots. Radishes etc sounds Italian. I do not see why anyone would go here for pasta unless they do not know how to boil pasta. I never got the pasta but it also was NOT served with grated Parmesan cheese but a store bought shaker. This is listed as fine dining. We have been to fine dining restaurants and they serve food elegantly with eye appeal and fresh ingredients. Carrabba"s restaurant is a fine dining restaurant with a 4.8 rating per trip advisor The only item to my knowledge that is homemade is the sauce which I never had. The menu was boring and dated. Several years ago they had the best sauce around, then new owners took over and Americanized the sauce. Now their sauce is only a shadow of its former self. The staff seem like they would rather be anywhere else than there. The home made pasta is still quite good. Located in a converted old theater, it's almost awkward at how large the place is and how poor the acoustics are. Inexpensive--definitely. Daily specials. I am a light eater so I opted for a side dish of rigatoni and a meatball. I believe the pasta is homemade (the regular spaghetti definitely looked homemade). Now here comes the goocher...yes, I said goocher. The red sauce. I am a red sauce snob. And I have to say Cibo's red sauce is pretty damn good. If I have to chin it up against other restaurant sauces I'd say it's up there with the sauce at Nido Italia and Dolce Vita and it's every bit as good (or better) than Mid's or La Gra's sauce in a bottle. I happened to be in Waynesburg for a funeral and arrived early, at lunchtime. This restaurant is about your only choice around here, but it's good. It is in an old theatre, which makes for odd table set up and decor. I had the lasagna special, under $10 for a huge piece, salad (not too memorable) and good bread. Decided to take our family out to dinner and had enjoyed Cibo's in the past. Dinner specials each week for all you can eat for reasonable prices on spaghetti and rigatoni that included salad and dinner rolls. As I have two young children the meals have always been split between them with no problem. However, on this visit after starting our meal my husband and I and one of our children decided we would have more. When the waitress asked if we would like more my husband explained and was told that because our children had split the meal she could not have more. My husband simply replied "that's fine I will give her a little of mine." When the waitress returned with our food she tried [for lack of better word] to explain that she added a $1.00 charge and had spoke with the manager about receiving more on a shared meal. Not really having an issue with the additional charge but the fact that is has become an issue at all. My wife pointed out that we had done it in the past and if a policy had changed or it was going to cause an issue then wouldn't it have been important to say that when it was ordered. Then to our amazement she loudly answered "this is not a buffet and we don't give away free food." Shocked and now embarrassed my wife stood up getting our children's coats and getting ready to leave was then grabbed by the waitress and told "you can't leave without paying your bill." I can not even express how appalling this behavior is on so many levels. Now that our family night out has turned into a scene. We paid our bill and left without the owner or manager ever even trying to resolve the situation. When my husband called after we left to speak to the owner he was told he was resolving another issue and couldn't make it to us. That he had taken over for his father and this employee had been there for over ten years. He apologized for her handling the situation poorly. As my husband went on to explain we will never return and if they continued with that quality of service it wouldn't matter at all how good the food is.
