The Bear and a Bear's fan!

After visiting the outstanding Pro Football Hall of Fame, we stopped for a late lunch at the highly recommended Papa Bear's Italian Restaurant, and we're certainly glad we did. Their extensive menu offered many tempting choices, but we were especially delighted to find one of our favorites--broasted chicken, which has become increasingly difficult to find in restaurants we vist across the country. We shared the broasted chicken dinner with broasted roast potatoes and cole slaw, and absolutely loved every bite. Both the chicken and potatoes were perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. We also enjoyed the delicious meatball and sausage, which were equally satisfying. Our server and the manager were welcoming, friendly, and professional, adding to the warm atmosphere and making our visit even more enjoyable. My husband loved the majestic bear on site, too! We were also impressed to learn that Pizza Oven/Papa Bear's has been family-owned since 1956 and continues to make everything from scratch. We learned that they do a lot of catering, including for the Pro Football of Fame. Even better, we discovered that they have nine Pizza Oven locations throughout the region, making it easy to enjoy their specialties no matter where you happen to be in Ohio. Although we would have loved to bring back some of the tempting deli items and prepared foods from the adjacent Pizza Oven, our hotel refrigerator simply wasn't large enough. That's just one more reason to return! We are already looking forward to another visit so we can sample additional menu favorites at Papa Bear's and take advantage of the wonderful offerings next door as well. Whenever you're near Canton, Ohio, Papa Bear's Italian Restaurant is definitely worth a stop. Highly recommended!

Food portions are massive . Excellent service and amazing American food This is a new location from the one we go to. Share food as portions are so big if u wana save money or have big family gathering .

    Fettuccine

This place is definitely not what it used to be. The servings are very small, so regardless of inflation the price plus the quantity are ridiculous. A fettuccine dinner only fills the bottom of the container. Noodles are cheap. They could at least fill it half full. A large pizza is 8 square pieces and the chicken is good when done right. It's a hit or miss with quality, presentation and flavor. There is now a fee to use your credit card. The front door is at the back of the building and the building is hidden behind everything else in that area. The old location was more ideal.

The atmosphere reminds me of my grandmas house (which is a good thing) and this is a go to spot if I'm craving Italian food and not wanting to wait 15 hours for spaghetti. Okay, I love mama guzzardi's. I grew up coming here when I was a little girl with my family. My…read moresiblings and I are now adults, and we wanted to surprise our mom for mother's day. She loves their food and even told sweet stories about mama guzzardi giving out flowers to mothers on mother's day when she was still with us. We used to eat here at least once a week growing up. I've only been a handful of times since their remodel and the ambiance is definitely different. It's not so much a cute little Italian spot as it feels like a collab with a sports bar. We do miss the walls of old pictures, but also understand growth and wanting to change with the times. We went for mother's day, and it was absolutely beautiful outside. One of their more recent renovations was their front patio, so we decided to indulge. We had a reservation for 1pm, and didn't tell our mom where we were going. We got to the restaurant at 1, and my mom was delighted. We weren't sat until 1:10, but also understand it was mother's day, they were busy. We sat outside and didn't see a server until about 1:25. Again, they were busy we understood. When the server came out, we knew what we wanted because we had plenty of time to look at the menu. We ordered food and drinks. We then didn't see our server with drinks until 1:45. We were very hungry at this point and asked if we could have our bread (we love their bread- it's a staple)! Our server ensured us it was just coming out of the oven and he'd bring it right out. We then didn't see our food until about 2:05 (and no bread was brought in the meantime). Our server wasn't even the one to bring our food out, it was a young girl. She gave us our plates and said "wow, you guys don't have anything out here". We expressed that we'd been here for over an hour, our drinks were empty, we didn't have cheese or crushed red pepper, we never got bread. She apologized and got us all refills and bread. We then see our server come out at around 2:15 and ask if we needed anything. Our food was gone at this point because we were starving and they didn't even bring out the extra sauce until we asked. We literally ate dry pasta because we had waited so long. While he was there, we asked for the check as to not prolong the whole experience even longer. I went in to use the restroom and the once full restaurant was empty, because so many people had come and gone in the time it took us to just get our food. All in all, it was just sad because we love mama guzzardi's. My sister and mom went back the following week and had amazing service from a different young man. He was attentive and they were in and out. It's disappointing that mother's day was the day they decided to drop the ball as we were trying to have a special day with our mom. The food is amazing and we want to support the small business, but we highly advise to never sit on the patio.

We had the pepperoni rolls which were delicious especially with the red sauce they served with it. Their fresh bread was good. My wife really enjoyed the pepperoni salad. I thought it was good but the banana peppers tasted pickled which i didn't care for. We had the Bianca pizza, which was a flatbread not round and it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. This was the only downside. We did see almost everyone else get the spaghetti and meatballs. Service was great and we were well taken care of.

We arrived five minutes early but were promptly seated. Our sever was adequate but not real personable. After being seated we were moved to another table but that is fine. Our food arrived within fifteen minutes which is quick in my opinion. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan with Penne pasta. We started with bread and dipping oil. The bread was soft and not made in house and the oil was good. The eggplant was crispy, warm and good although a little soggy in the middle. The pasta was warm at best and there was some dried sauce on top. The pasta was done but needed more sauce. All in all it was just okay. My wife ordered Boston Scrod and said it was as cold and had some seasoning on it. She added it did not have a lot of taste. The pasta that she ordered with the Scrod was cold. The other couple we were with received a sausage Stromboli which was not the original version they ordered. The restaurant just opened so they may be working out their processes, I don't know.
