Small little family owned Thai restaurant. We were in the area so decided to take a chance. The lady waiting on us was so friendly & attentive. We got their delicious Shrimp Pad Thai. It was very well made had all the elements of crunchy, salty, sweet, savory, umami & sour. We loved their Tom Kha coconut soup with white fish & mushrooms as we ordered it. It was creamy smooth perfection. The fish was tender chunks of filet. Loved the predominant flavor of the lemongrass which really shined through along with the galangal. Not everywhere makes it with white fish fillets. It usually has dry white chicken over cooked which I don't care for. Their Thai iced coffee was nice & strong. I found Cibo here on Yelp! where the rave reviews had me wanting to give them a try. I ordered for myself to go. On the downside, I thought 35 minutes for a to go order was a bit long, especially just before 5pm, but it turned out to be worth the wait. I had the crispy vegetable rolls and the prik king with beef, extra spicy. The rolls were just okay, but to be fair, they are not my favorite dish and I only got them because I wanted a little more than just the dinner plate. The prik king was fantastic. The beef was tender and delicious. The string beans were done perfectly and still had that fresh snap when I bit into them. The sauce had a fantastic bite, just as requested, and was full of flavor as opposed to simply overbearingly hot. I found the portion size to be perfect and the pricing was more than fair. I think some of the reviews that complain about portions being too small, should just consider ordering two, if they are looking for overflowing family style plates. My serving was more than adequate for one person, and under $10 for a dinner is a rare find. I won't hesitate to order from Cibo Thai again and again. read more

My husband and I come here when we're craving Thai. The place is very friendly and clean. The atmosphere is small and quaint and generally not crowded. My husband loves the chicken curry and I tend to get the Pad Thai. They'll make the curry as hot as you want. We like everything we get, however now and again I feel the noodles on the Pad Thai are overcooked making them a bit rubbery. The vegetable rolls are excellent. The food is nothing unusual. Having said that, what thai food is extraordinary? The place seem to be run by a Thai as opposed to Chinese- Have more Thai flavor instead of Chinese dishes acting like Thai food. The food is clean. Never had any problems after eating here. Angela and her staff do a great job providing delicious Thai and Chinese food at very reasonable prices. The panang, pad Thai, basil fish, kung pao, prik king, and yellow curry, are all wonderful, and the kitchen does a great job tailoring the spice to your preference. This was our first time ordering from here because we wanted to support small business but I think it will be our last. The food was tasty but the portions were too small for the amount we paid. They skim on the meat. It's mostly all veggies or sauce, very disappointing. I was humiliated since I ordered for dinner with my parents. I even ordered double of our faves thinking one wouldn't be enough, glad I did but imagine my surprise when I popped a lid off the Prik King Beef and literally found 4 sliced pieces of beef. WOW!!! Just picked up take out from Cibo and we are so impressed!!! My boyfriend for the Pad Thai with chicken and I got Glass Noodle Pad Thai with shrimp and both were both amazing!!! Next time I will go with the classic Pad Thai, but since I'm such a huge fan of glass noodles I just had to try it!! I was not disappointed!! Great service and delicious food!!! This is a great little restaurant. The food is great, the service is great, and the owner is so nice - she remembered us after the first time we ate there. What you will NOT get is a sophisticated wine list (think Sutter's Home), but you will also not get a huge bill - and you will have had a very nice meal. read more

Went in for lunch today about 2 PM. I was the only customer. The greeting was quick and friendly, the restaurant and bathroom were clean. I ordered chicken pad thai, crispy veggie roll appetizer and a Thai iced tea. The food was served quickly and was good. I don't eat a lot at one sitting and there was enough for another meal. Way over priced for portion size, just ok food (beef was very chewy in beef with cashews, almost no chicken in our sweet in sour chicken) and it took them over an hour to get our "to go" order done. Cibo Thai is one of those little gems that would be killing it in a better location. What this means is that to save on overhead there is no wait staff. Angela runs the place pretty much on her own with her partner helping in the kitchen when it gets crazy. What does this mean for you? It means that on a busy night you may walk in and find a table or two that haven't been bussed yet, and you might wait a few minutes before Angela comes to take your order, but it also means that the same wonderful woman taking your order is also making your food! So when she asks you how it is she genuinely wants to make sure that you're enjoying your meal there. And did I mention how good the food is?! Her Pad Thai is some of the best I've had in LA and the spicy basil chicken is an absolute winner. I've never been disappointed or ordered something I didn't like here, and I find myself either wandering in or ordering takeout at least once a week from here. If it's in season make sure to try to coconut sticky rice with mango for dessert! read more

This is the only Thai restaurant I go to. Cibo is AMAZINGGGG!!! Not only is the food incredible but the owners are the sweetest people. You can tell that everything they make is made with care and fresh ingredients. I've been to some other Thai restaurants around the area and nothing quite compares to Cibos flavors. 10/10! Small little Thai place in Montrose. Not a place for large groups. We went on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only ones there. We were greeted and sat quickly. We ordered and the lady serving us didn't really check on us much after that. She came by once to refill water and then disappeared to the back but that was fine by us. If you're the type of person that it bothers you that the server isn't always checking on you, perhaps this isn't the place for you. The food came in a timely manner. I love Thai food but this place was kind of lacking in the authentic Thai flavor that I'm used to. The yellow curry was great however the potatoes were way undercooked . The pad see ew was whatever , the larb was ehhh, combination fried rice mediocre , overall kind of disappointed . I prefer the larb at Sala Thai on Rosemead blvd in san Gabriel it's so delicious . I've eaten at several Thai spots , Saladang, SalaThai, Thai Paradise, and three Thai spots in Arcadia and out of all the Thai restaurants I've ever been to this one left me sadly still hungry with a thumbs down because when I don't like something ... Really good pad Thai and Tom kha guy soup. We've ordered from here several times and really like it.

It was pretty good, if a little expensive for take out. I had the cashew chicken with vegetables and wished it was a little less salty and a little more spicy. That said, I'll probably order again but try something else. I see the potential and I love thai food. :) read more
