It was quite mouthwatering and was a novel flavor combination for me. Now I need to go and buy some black garlic. For a pizza I went with an arrabiata, which was basically a cheese pizza with calabrian chili and a little extra cheese. It was quite indulgent, and also garlicky, with a nice charred crust that flopped in the hand and was a bit damp towards the center (generally a marker of quality). I enjoyed it enough that I didn't wish I was somewhere else, which in Asheville is saying something, and I liked the innovation on the menu. And surprisingly, I can't recall having been to any other high-end Neapolitan-ish pizzas in Asheville, so maybe this is the one that will stick.

We came here on a Saturday for dinner and were able to get seated at the bar right away. It is first come first serve at the bar, and there's over 12 seats at the bar. Reservations were completely booked up so no tables were available until 9:30 pm. My one complaint would be they told us no tables were available, but they left at least 4 tables completely empty for over 30 min and wouldn't let other people sit at them. They said it was for reservations who had ended up canceling because of the bad rainy weather that night. People were turned away at the door when tables were available. We ended up loving sitting at the bar because we got to chat with the bartenders and see the chefs make the pizzas. The crust for the pizza is literally perfect. The chewiest pizza I've ever had. I usually leave the pizza crust but I ate all of mine this time. My partner and I shared a focaccia with whipped ricotta for an appetizer. And we got two pizzas, one red sauce and one white sauce. The meatball pizza was absolutely delicious with the red chili flakes that are provided. And the artichoke pizza balanced well with the fresh arugula and pesto sauce. I would highly recommend coming here and trying to get a reservation. If you can't you can wait to sit at the bar or order to-go.

I'm sure the need for them is very seasonal, we visited just before "leaf season" really cranks up. We started with arancini, and this was an excellent version. Crispy outside, tender rice and cheesy inside. Bathed in their vodka sauce, which maybe seems to be their signature sauce as most of our order came with it. That's a good thing, it's an excellent sauce. We also got bread service... which I would not do again. Bread being complimentary is still mostly a common thing at Italian restaurants, so for me to pay for bread, it better be something amazing. In this case, that was money I could have held onto. It was good, but, I have had better complimentary bread at other places. Minor lesson learned. We ordered a small plate of meatballs (2 meatballs well sauced and about the size of a racquetball) to have a bit more protein with our pasta dinners. They were excellent as was the red sauce they came bathed in. Very deep tomato flavor, great spices, would love a meatball sub made out of these. My lasagna ranked in the top 3 I have ever had, and I consider myself nearly Garfield-esque in my love for lasagna. The pesto on top, and the burrata-like cheese used in the layering set it apart along with again, delicious sauce... including a lake of vodka sauce that it was served in. I was pretty full, and the half I saved was delicious the next day as most lasagna is. I have one solitary complaint other than the bread. It's nice and all that one of the employees took my food to box it for me. But I was kinda mad when I opened it the next day to find they didn't box up any of the vodka sauce left on the plate. That would have made for even better leftovers, and I have no idea why they wouldn't think to spoon that in there. What a waste.
