Got there at 7 pm on Sunday with a reservation. They were jammed with a party upstairs. Our table was ready . My granddaughter and her husband invited my daughter, son in law and myself to Ciao's with two of my great granddaughters. The 5 year old had her dance recital earlier. Her baby sister who is 3 could not wait for the pizza. We ordered a regular pizza and one with sausage as appetizers as well as an order of fried calamari and clams oreganata. The little one ate 5 slices of the regular pizza for dinner. Her older sister ordered ravioli in tomato sauce. I had my favorite ravioli in a fresh tomato and Basel sauce. Mouth watering perfect. Ciao has a prime location in with ample parking in the heart of Eastchester, taking full advantage of the location, flexing their pricing power and capitalizing on the universal appeal of Italian-American cuisine. The dining room is welcoming and pretty and the staff is trying hard to make the experience feel upscale, probably in an effort to justify $20 for pizza, $22 for pasta, and $18 for a salad with protein for lunch. Our server was friendly, but young and not "invested" in our experience; impression was he was new/"green" and couldn't be bothered asking if we needed anything or wanted more of anything. Nothing about the meal was special, worth mentioning or delicious, it was good and average. A plate of pasta, salad with chicken, we drank water and had tea to finish, $87 all-in lunch for 2. Nicest part was we had a quiet corner table and they gave us all the time and space we wanted. What you see is what you get here, straight-up Westchester Italo-Americano. The food is always excellent, the service is highly professional and the place is well-managed. One key indicator I always look at when evaluating a restaurant at is how things are cooked. When you order a seafood pasta here, each item is cooked properly. They obviously do not take a handful of several different types of fish and shellfish and throw them in at the end of the preparation process. This requires attention to detail that is not always found, even at high-end establishments. It's also a family-friendly establishment. You should expect to see tables of families with kids and a bunch of kids pressed up against the glass wall in the dining room watching the pizzaiolo throw pies. So, not necessarily a first-date kind of place, but it lends a welcome semi-casual and neighborhood feel to it. So happy to see they renovated! I haven't gone in some years but we went for take out the other day. Their food is still exactly spot on. The new renovation is beautiful and up to date! We love the Endive Salad. It's very unique yet simple. My wife got hers with grilled chicken which the chicken was fresh and cooked very well. Not like grilled chicken places that you can't even eat it! The salad has endive, blue cheese, peppers, walnuts with a vinegarette. Very nice. Of course we also had to order one of their pizzas which we got the regular pie. It's such a refreshing pie. It's so nice and thin and no one in the area really makes it like they do. Caio's has been around for over 30yrs! The food is delicious and generous portions! The service is top notch! The manager Benny is very attentive! I highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a good meal! I have had several of their dishes and thought they are worthy of my time to write this review. Ambience is great. There are several rooms and you have your choice. There is an outdoor area that on a warm day you can enjoy sitting outside. By the way.... Besides there amazing dishes their pizza is yummy! AND if you can save room for dessert and they are offering Napoleon cake be ready to take it to a new level!!!! I should also name some of the plates we had and enjoyed each and every one! This was our fifth time at Ciao Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was very busy. After we were seated the waiter came over and asked for our drink orders. He didn't even say hello! I asked the waiter if there were any specials for dinner. He replied "no". The waiter never returned to our table. While he was at the bar waiting for our drinks he asked another waiter to serve our table I saw the waiter pointing to our table. The "new" waiter had some trouble understanding when I said no dairy due to allergies, so I said no cheese. I ordered the Penne with Mushrooms which was served hot. However, the dish only had sliced portobello mushrooms. The menu stated a variety of types of mushrooms. The Veal Salvaggio is made with Cognac tasted 100% like Veal Masala. The sauce didn't even resemble the Cognac sauce. The waiter NEVER returned to the table after the food was served to asked if we wanted fresh pepper or if everything was okay. Your food should be served as the menu stated and if the kitchen doesn't have the ingredients the waiter has the responsibility of letting you know. Ate here months ago with a group of 12 but forgot to write up a review... The food was just okay but nothing too memorable. Fried zucchini sticks were pretty greasy. A few people in my group were complaining that their meals were not all that. Our waitress though somewhat attentive kept disappearing when we needed her the most. My husband and I went with 2 other couples.we were seated at a table that was by the back staircase. We barely fit. Waiters were banging into us trying to get up the stairs with large trays of food and apologizing. Air conditioning was blowing directly on our backs. We asked if we could move. We got moved to the other room to a booth which was much better. Ordered cocktails which were very good. I had a mango martini-excellent. All of the entrees ordered were very tasty. I ordered a seafood marinara over linguini which was loaded with calamari, shrimp, mussels. It was excellent. I had to flag down the waiter to bring grated cheese for the pasta dishes. Waited for that. I finished my martini. Nobody noticed. As a matter of fact, I finished my water and nobody ever checked back and replenished. The waiter NEVER came back to ask how things were or if we needed more drinks. I timed it. 30 minutes went by without any drink at my place including water. I resorted to drinking my husbands. He only came over when we were all done. He removed my martini glass but never asked me if I'd like another! Was too busy trying to see if we wanted dessert. Still, never replenished anyone's water! Food is good but waiters need to get their acts together. read more

I was dying to visit this place for a long time, yesterday finally i got the chance and I was not disappointed. Food was delicious, we had fried calamari for appetizers and some home made pita bread with goat cheese spread. For entre we had pasta, grilled chicken, parmesano shrimp and gnocchi rapinni, everything was very flavorful and portions were huge and served salad before. What can I say been coming here since I was a baby with my Nonna. This is one of my families go to places that brings back such great memories and comfort. The food is fantastic, the pizza is one of my favorite pizzas around their truly isn't anything quite like it. The chicken ezelle is my favorite dish it's chicken cooked to perfection breaded in Parmesan cheese in a wine sauce with potatoes and asparagus. The pene alla vodka tastes authentic and homemade. My chicken was tasteless and there was clearly cornstarch in the sauce. My brother ordered a dish that was supposed to have chestnuts in the sauce and there were canned *water chestnuts* in his veal dish. Again, extremely bland, no garlic flavor was listed on the menu, no cooking technique. There were handfuls of shiitake mushrooms in any dish with mushrooms, but no flavor. Very accommodating. For the disabled there is a lift so that we were able to sit up in the outdoor terrace. There were huge heaters so we could dine outside during Covid. Went there this past Monday with a friend who bragged about them. We were celebrating mom's 95th birthday. Had I known wouldn't have gone. The quality of the food was very poor and the waiters were not the greatest. Let's start with the eggplant rolattini. Three slices of eggplant couldn't find the filling, since you could barely find the ricotta. The sauce wasn't even marinara sauce it was a sauce you would find on something I ng like penna a lvovodka. As. For my mom's dish she ordered linguine a la pescatore. The mussels when I opened them were not fully grown they were small that you could use a twizer. The rest of it was not spectacular shrimp and class very small. The calamari were ok ,no tentacles, when I took the rest home whomever packed it didn't give me sauce. Just the two lemon wedges. This makes me think they.,1y recycle food. As for dessert mom ordered the choclat gelatp and a cappuccino. The womann at another table also was celebrating a bithday and thhe dish was overflowing withe ice cream. That's because they frequent the restauwant. . I called today, saturday and got benny on the phone a supposed manager and told him all of and he said well i wasn't here and that I should have said something at the time. He also said you never should go to a restaurant on a sunday or monday. Those are not good days, just going to a restaurant on father's . I was just here with a friend and the food was...fine. I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo that was nothing to write home about (it would have benefitted from fresh black pepper or some sort of garnish) and my friend had the olive pizza (she said that was good). The service was good and our waiters were friendly. What concerned me most was that none of the chefs were wearing masks. There is an open window into the kitchen and I didn't see any of the kitchen staff with a mask on. One of the people working wiped their nose with their hand and then continued their task in the kitchen without washing their hands. I enjoyed a strong drink, a Cosmo, and my friend had to ask for a new glass as the one on the table was dirty. We travel from Connecticut to Ciao's for dinner and the food and service was excellent. I can't say enough, about the restaurant. I had Chilean Sea Bass. it was delicious. Another favorite of mine is Sole Florentine. The best I have ever had. My husband and family were extremely impressed with the service. They also love their chicken meals. Sadly have to give this restaurant 2 stars due to our experience last night for dinner. While the food was delicious we felt extremely uncomfortable the entire evening due to MAJOR LACK of COVID protocol. Walking in the door we immediately were greeted by a man (seeming to be an owner or manager) had no mask on- not around his neck nor simply pulled down- just no mask! Wait staff also continuously pulled theirs down once away from the tables. The tables were absolutely NOT 6 feet distanced and the dining room was far too overcrowded. Other customers continued to get up from their tables walking to the bathroom or front entrance with no mask on as well. In my opinion someone from the restaurant should have kindly reminded these patrons to wear their mask to and from the table. Really disappointed in Ciao- we have had many a meal there before the pandemic- birthday celebrations, anniversaries etc. It is very unfortunate that restaurants like this aren't doing their part to make safe and healthy environments for their customers, while so many others are. read more
