The food was yummy and the tortillas used are just absolutely the best! An enchilada perfectly sauced is a must and the space feels like my grandma's house in decorations and in all the people sitting around. It's very family friendly.

Chuy's is a good little Tex mex choice if you're in the mood for very mild Tex mex style cuisine. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's tasty. I love to get the jalapeno dip with my chips and salsa. It's so good! That's my favorite part. And margaritas are delicious. Food is okay, but it's a fun spot for a lunch or dinner. I tried the Baja shrimp tacos, and they needed some kind of extra sauce. They were dry. But our server was awesome. He helped us decide on delicious drink options.

Food was hot and fresh. Service a 10 and the green jalapeño sauce..... yes please in a pitcher so i can drink it Happy Hour queso yum

Why haven't I been back? It was 10 years ago that I last dined in Chuy's. My wife and I had just moved back to Tulsa. Then, I asked a friend that had lived in San Antonio, where was the best TexMex in Tulsa? He recommended Chuy's. I remember, we dined at Chuy's on a Sunday. The place was a mad house, a zoo. The parking lot packed. Inside every table was full and the noise was deafening. Uncontrolled kids were running in all directions screaming and playing, snottin' sneezin' and making a mess of the salsa bar. The food was good. TexMex style and flavors that I remembered from living in Texas. Delicious, but it was not worth the hassle dealing with the parking and crowded restaurant. Haven't been back since. Chuy's recently advertised a new (new to me) green chili enchilada and relleno plate. The picture of the crispy deep fried relleno hooked me. Rellenos prepared like that are uncommon. When I see 'em, I'm on 'em, like a fat boy on an ice cream cone. Add green chili, I'm in the car leaving. Please don't recommend Ricardo's. I've been there. They serve a bland disastrous plate of cheese. Chips and fresh salsa came to the table. Not cooked or canned tomato sauce. Fresh tomatoes with jalapeno and cilantro. Very good. The salsa bar is gone, so I was wondering if there were other salsa options. Annika, our super fantastic server explained, pick what you want from the sauce selection on the menu. In minutes we had the red chili and the TexMex on the table to dip our chips in. This is the good stuff, made from dried chili peppers. Chuy's is a large comfortable restaurant. The walls are busy with pictures of everything. Where we were sitting, amusing caricatures of French Bulldogs dominated. The food was wonderful. Cheerful, personable Annika, provided flawless attentive service! My TexMex has been rediscovered in Tulsa. If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check the collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

One of of the few restaurants that actually tasted like Mexican food in Oklahoma and as someone who is from California I know what real Mexican food tastes like and chuy's tasted a lot like it, I got the baja fried shrimp tacos and they were pretty good, the waiter was really cool and he gave us free warm tortillas when we left because a guy complained but honestly I don't know why he was complaining because everything was perfect. The restaurant inside gave a warm, welcome, and cozy feeling and it wasn't too fancy at all, like you could go in with the most casual clothes ever and you would fit right in, just maybe don't come in with a full suit and tie lol. Overall rating FIVE STARS, no doubt about it

The service was great. It was a busy Friday night and our waitress took care of us. The food was great. Family friendly atmosphere. Don't forget a framed picture of your dogs for the bar area!

He even brought our beers with a cocktail glass with salt, which was a nice touch. The SALSA was too HOT! We tried a couple of them, & we couldn't taste anything for the heat. I usually like a little heat, but this was over the top hot. My husband felt the same way & I've talked to a couple other people since then & they said the same thing. We asked the waiter if there was a mild salsa, but he said there was not. I would certainly encourage you to consider making a milder one. I ordered the crispy enchiladas served with ensalada y avocado, along with beans & rice. I also ordered one tamale to try. Everything was delicious. Very good quality food. The tamale was one of the best I've ever eaten. My husband ordered the brisket tacos & found them too greasy, which is unusual for him; however he was agreeable to eating there again, but would try another dish. We will be back, but will just skip the salsa & brisket tacos!

We ordered our food and I got the crispy taco dinner. I will say the place was busy, but we had to wait nearly an hour for our food, and they didn't even bring everyone's food out. It took another 15 minutes for them to bring the rest of the food. Overall, the chips and queso was very good, and the food came out fresh and hot. My tacos were delicious. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic about the wait time. The place had a very nice interior and had clean bathrooms, to go along with a great ambiance. Overall, this place gave us a pretty solid experience and I would recommend it if you are looking for good Mexican food in the Tulsa area.

It's well-worn but clean. Staff is quick and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. You'll leave full, but not bloated. I've been a fan of El Rio Verde for many years and always look forward to eating here. It's not a large place and only has perhaps four or five booths and a half-dozen tables, and it fills up fast at lunch. They're known for their "Wet Burrito," but the enchiladas and burritos are also outstanding. The refried beans are fresh and made in-house. The salsa is freshly made too and very good, but not memorable like the food. You'll see people from all walks of life eating here - couples, single moms with children, police officers, business people, blue collar workers, and everyone in-between. If you want really good Mexican food that is not TexMex or from a chain restaurant, try this place! You won't regret it! One of my favorite places in Tulsa. However, as of this review, be aware that Utica Avenue, just east of the restaurant, has been blocked to north-bound traffic only for water main replacement, so getting into the neighborhood is easier than leaving. Plan to go toward downtown on the service road next to I-244 for most efficient egress.
