My husband, daughter, and I visited Chuy's on Monday, August 26th. We experienced excellent hospitality by our server Cecilia. She consistently checked in with us and gave us amazing recommendations when ordering our food. The food itself was delightful and the servings were very generous! Management also stopped by during our meal to explain the different sauce choices and arrangement of the menu. At the end of our meal management stopped by once more to thank us, invite us back, and gave us coupon cards for free queso for a future visit. Lastly, we were blown away by the Tres Leches dessert, so much so that we ended up ordering two servings to go! I love Mexican food and margaritas and everyone that knows me knows this. This is like a well-known description about me. I came to Chuy's with one friend on a really warm day to enjoy some frozen margaritas. There was no wait for us and we sat outside in the front patio which I really enjoyed because I love people watching haha. BUT the service was horrible! I swear we waited at least 30 mins to get our waiter to give us water...........then he gave us chips and salsa which we inhaled quickly because we were getting so hangry. By the time he came to our table with waters and the chips and salsa, we were legitimately ready to order - that is how long it took him to come over to our table...we ordered 2 frozen margaritas. Those came on a decent timeframe then he disappeared again for a while and we were already ready to order our entrees...we waited and waited and waited then he finally came back. We both ordered platters and I got a beef enchilada and a chicken relleno with rice and beans as sides. The margarita was definitely good but not amazing or anything. The food was so and so. The I didn't like the fact that the chile relleno was deep fried...I didn't eat it. The beef enchilada was okay and really lacked flavor but thank god for the beans and rice to keep me a little happy. I don't think we will come back to this Chuy's in Springfield because it didn't really give us our Mexican fix. I have come here many times since it opened and I have always received friendly service and great food. You have to get the creamy jalapeño dip for the chips, its complimentary and way better than the salsa! If it is your first time at the restaurant, they will bring you a plate of all their different sauces for you to try. For entrees, I haven't ever had a bad thing on the menu. I normally order enchiladas or fajitas, but this time I got a chicken combo since I wasn't very hungry. It was delicious and perfectly portioned for a light meal. Chuy's did it again. The rating is really a 3.5 out of 5, but I rounded up because they deserve it! The fiancé (I can't WAIT until we get married as I hate the word fiancé, it sounds fancy and bougie for NO reason, maybe I should call him my boyfriend squared, anyway...) and I went to Chuy's on Friday night. We were quoted a 25 minute wait and we got called to our table in about 15 minutes. Woohoo for over estimating! It was clearly busy, however, our server worked her section like a pro. We ordered alcoholic beverages and they came out in standard time and were good. We also got chips and salsa quickly. I asked for a sample sauce plate and that took a little longer than expected to come out, but she told us the kitchen was backed up, so I was fine with the wait. Our sample sauces (apparently, called the rainbow plate) came out and we loved so many of them. My sweetie ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom. It was very good, however, the chicken lacked seasoning. However, we put the sauces to good use, so it was all good. I ordered chicken tacos (two soft and one hard), they were very good. I liked the soft better than the hard. Interesting facts: I had a legitimate girl crush on our server, I thought she was so cute! The chips are hot, light and delicious. Ask for the rainbow plate, it's free, so why wouldn't you get it? I started eating my food before taking the pictures-SORRY. Surprisingly good food and great service earn this chain four solid stars!! I came to Chuy's for a friend's farewell luncheon with no expectations (given that this is a chain restaurant). Immediately upon entering, I was greeted by at least three different effervescently friendly employees along with Elvis-dinerish themed decor and an array of bright paint colors. I arrived early and had to wait about 10 minutes for the rest of the party. While I was waiting in the seating area just beside the door, a distinguished gentlemen (maybe the manager?) came by to ensure I was taken care of and to offer me something to eat or drink to make me comfortable while I waited. I haven't felt more welcome in any restaurant in quite some time! Salsa is the ambassador of a Mexican restaurant and Chuy's put their best statesman forward from the first moment to the last. Our party of 20 was immediately seated and served water and chips & two varieties of salsa--deliciously traditional pico and a creamy jalapeño that was provocative and delightful! Service was so smooth and accommodated our large party's varied and special order requests quickly and to perfection--drinks stayed filled and the chips and delicious salsa kept flowing in copious amounts. Chuy's Tex-Mex menu is customizable with a variety of different bases (flour and corn tortillas, rice) with your choice of protein, in a range of presentations (enchilada, chimichanga, taco, burrito, bowl) accompanied by one of their 5 to 6 signature sauces. I chose 2 enchiladas--one deluxe tomatillos and cheese and one Hatch chili with beef. The food came out within a few minutes and smelled divine. The portions were ginormous and had flavorful Mexican rice and creamy, smoky pinto beans on the side. I was surprised at how much I ate given the large portion size--but I enjoyed every bite. But yes, you can get refills and it's all free - taco meat, salsa, queso, hot tortilla chips, and few other bits. I loved the blended/frozen margaritas!! You can't go wrong with the flavors. My favorite though was the strawberry. So good!!! For dinner, I got grilled shrimp tacos - they were solid! An order comes with 2. Just what I had hoped for. The service and the food at this Chuy's is consistently and significantly better than all the other ones we have been to, especially the Rockville branch. The patio is fun for the warm weather. The indoors will almost always give you a lot of Tex-Mex smell on your clothes, but it is delicious. Ok. When Chuy's opened it was delish. For a chain Tex-Mex place. The chips were crispy, the chicken moist and flavorful. The steak tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. I've had several things on their menu over the years and it's one of those restaurants that suffers from inconsistency. But they got it pretty darn right more than they got wrong - I finally gave up ordering the chuychanga (don't judge) because it was undercooked and cold in the middle just too often. BUT, The Tex Mex Enchilada's were always consistently yummy. (even my picky eater loved them) And their Chicken Tortilla Soup was spot in for me (and don't holler at me about authentic. I LOVED their soup) Why past tense you ask? Well when Covid hit, Chuy's had to change their menu for take-out only. Pare their menu down. They removed a metric sh*t ton of their regulars. Believed Enchilada's, Salad's, Soup, Appetizers. All axed "temporarily" Ok. Well, when you pare your menu down (BUT, raise your prices) You had been make darn sure the few things you DO have are done well. And they are not. Disappointment (how do fajita's be both greasy and dry?) After disappointment (Chuychanga, I gave you one last try to be soggy AND cold in the middle again) Steak Tacos (again both greasy and dry, but then it was basically the fajita meat-with huge bits of fat and gristle on it- and onion/pepper mix they use for fajita's) with the thickest most dense floury tortilla's. And I got sick as hell from it. And lastly THE ONE THING any restaurant with the word mex in it should get right, their chips. Were over salted to the point of being gross. Seriously they were "salt coated chips" The one redeeming item in the whole order? Creamy Jalapeño sauce. Maybe. When they bring back their full menu I'll give it another try. It pains me to write this review. After eating at the Fairfax Chuy's, we decided that it was the best Mexican chain restaurant that we have tried. Despite the Springfield experience, I still think it's tops when it comes to the Mexican chains. That said, the Springfield location just can't measure up to Fairfax. We were here on a Sunday around 4:30 p.m. Figuring that if we waited too long to eat, we would be facing a long wait for a table, we decided to eat that early. As it turns out, it was a good choice as we only had a 10 minute wait. Our server was prompt when getting to our table. Plus, she was friendly, so no complaints there. We were with our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. Our drink orders were filled promptly. I tried a mojito and was shocked at how large the glass was. Then our daughter pointed out that it had lots of ice. Plus, it wasn't very strong. The chips and salsa were up to Chuy's standards. But sadly, the rest of the meal was not. I ordered cheese chile rellenos with charro beans and Mexican rice. When the plate of food arrived, I noticed that the rellenos were much larger. As I dug into them, the batter did not adhere to the chiles. Surprisingly, the chiles were on the hot side. Chile rellenos are supposed to be mild. The charro beans were also overspiced. My husband got the Tex Mex enchiladas and he, too, noticed that they weren't as good here. Our son-in-law got a chicken burrito and damned it with faint praise by saying that it was better than Chipotle. Our daughter got the enchilada and taco combo. When her plate arrived, there was no taco on it. When she pointed it out, the food runner looked confused and said he will bring her one. Her take on the meal --- the enchilada was okay while the taco was good. She was impressed that despite it being in a crispy shell, it held together well. The grandkids all liked their kids taco meals and finished everything on their plates. When we were at the Fairfax location, the place was crazy busy yet, the food came out quickly and arrived to our table hot. Here, at Springfield, it came to the table barely warm. Plus, the kitchen was on the slow side. Our daughter works for a chain restaurant (note to Yelp---she does NOT work for Chuy's!). I asked her why it is when you go to a chain restaurant, the experience can be great in one place yet mediocre or bad in another. She said it all has to do with management. A good back of the house management team would be watching for quality control which involves the cooks knowing how to properly prep, spice and cook the food. A good front of the house management team would be making sure that the servers and runners are on top of things like being prompt to the tables and the runners getting the food out quickly. That said, in the end, the buck stops with the general manager. Clearly, Fairfax is far, far better managed and run. Corporate HQ should be taking a closer look at Springfield, IMO. We had talked up Chuy's to our daughter and son-in-law and let them know that the experience was better at Fairfax. Hopefully, next time they're visiting, we could all go to that Chuy's. read more

Love Chuy's and their Happy Hour. We were in the Springfield area, dropping our little one at grandmas. Made it just in time for Chuy's Happy Hour. Their complimentary nachos bar during Happy Hour is excellent. They offer nachos, Queso, taco meat, beans, salsa, etc. and you help yourself. I appreciate that Chuy's is a kid friendly restaurant. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted. Our server was excellent. She was friendly, personable, and attentive. We didn't have to ask for anything. Our water cups were always full and extra napkins were brought to the table. She asked us if we enjoyed everything and needed anything a couple of times. Like always, it's good eats at Chuy's. Love their chips and salsas. Their tortillas are made fresh. I really enjoyed their tortilla soup. Tastes homemade. Hubs enjoyed his burrito special of the day. In the mood for some traditional Mexican comfort food without the white linens, we decided to give Chuy's a try. My expectations were food chain moderate. I didn't expect anything more than I would get at other Tex-Mex spots like Chevys and On the Border. The SCENE: We walked into a 1950s family friendly diner. The eclectic décor included wooden fish hanging from the ceiling, retro brightly colored glittery chairs, and portraits of prominent Mexican figures (politicians, singers, artists, etc.) lining the walls who contributed to advancing the country in some way. The FOOD: We ordered chicken/shrimp fajitas and Baja tacos (grilled fish). We snacked on the fresh chips and salsa fresca while waiting, but the wait was short. The food was served hot and was full of flavor. The fajitas were marinated in their "special" herbs & spices and I was surprised to find the grilled fish tender and moist; not overcooked which is what I normally encounter with fish tacos. Chuy's was also generous with portion sizes and the hand rolled tortillas. AfterIt was apparent that our entrees were made in a scratch kitchen. I enjoyed my first visit. I like Chuy's. I like Chuy's a lot. I do not like to review chains, but since Chuy's isn't much of one, that's why I'm doing this one a favor. Chuy's to me is a lot like On the Border, with a more peculiar twist on their food, especially with their take on Elvis. I have had two of their dishes, one was really good (the southwestern enchiladas), and one was just okay (their burrito). This time, I had to go with another one of the hallmark dishes that they have, the Elvis Fried Chicken, a chicken breast deep fried in Lays potato chips and served with a fried egg on top (optional, but highly recommended), add in some Boom Boom sauce and there you have it. My parents and brother got the fajitas, which I told them they are known for, and knew they wouldn't come away disappointed. In fact, nobody walked out of there feeling disappointed at all. Here, the chips and salsa were terrific. They were spicy alright, but are much more doable than the Fairfax location. My family went through at least three bowls of chips before our dinners came out. My parents took one bite of their fajitas and loved it, especially my father. He was really taken with it. My mother and younger brother loved their fajitas too, as they demolished their skillets without what I'd like to think any regret. That's a good sign. Now for me. WOW. The Elvis Fried Chicken is phenomenal, it is some really good stuff. The chicken is perfect, the fried egg on top (again, I highly recommend you do it this way) is awesome, the Boom Boom sauce (which I already know is good) accentuates the dish to a whole other stratosphere. The refried beans were decent too, but the rice that comes with it isn't really good at all, in fact it's very peppery, and I was unable to eat any of after one or two nibbles. But the main event of this dish makes me want to get it again. Overall, we were all really satisfied with our dinner. They all enjoyed it. Me, who has already been to Chuy's before, knowing what I was getting into, knew that Chuy's always does a good job, but this location did an even better job. Lee, our server, was extremely knowledgeable, jovial, friendly, and easygoing with everything to make our experience lovable and memorable. The bar was full, so I joined the waitlist on yelp to get us a table. While we were waiting for a table, we all ordered a drink from the bar. We had the strawberry and lime frozen margarita. The drink was decent, however, why does it a Tex mex place serving their margarita on a plastic water cup? (The picture attached were from previous visit) My phone buzzed 10 minutes later notifying me that my table is ready. So I went up to the host stand, there was no hostess to sit us down, so we had to wait. When she finally came back, she sat us on the patio table which is what we requested. We sat down with menus and previous check on our tables. We were ready to order food, And 20 minutes went by, there was NO WAITER came by our table, or anybody to check on any of the tables on the patio. It was so horrible. I did see a waiter walked by and his name was Max. He didn't even say a word to us. No greeting, no water and forget about getting good customer service. So we decided to leave to go to next door for food. By the time we left, the menu and the previous check were picked up. During my high anticipated trip to the new Springfield Mall (or Springfield Town Center if you're fancy), we decided to try out Chuy's since I've heard so many good things about the Fairfax location. We went there on a random weeknight a little less than 2 hours before closing and there was absolutely no wait for a table. Though they did close all but 1 seating area so diners were all bunched together. The decor was...interesting. The Tex Mex diner ambiance is a bit jumbled. The steak fajitas came out on a sizzling plate with plenty of pepper and onions. It was okay that the steak was cooked medium well and the portion seemed meager but the flavor was definitely there. It came with a generous portion of rice and beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo. Something I would consider getting again but not my go-to fajita spot! Some of the servers definitely looked like they were part of the freshmen restaurant crowd and working out the kinks of a restaurant that had just opened. I was so impressed by our server...after we ordered, I asked about the sauces and apologized for my many questions about the menu since it was my first time there. He offered to bring out a taste of each of their sauces so that we could try them (I liked the hatch chile sauces). How cool for a new restaurant to treat new customers like that. I was so excited when I got the email that Chuy's was now open in the newly revamped Springfield Mall (call it what you want.. it's still a mall). Hubs and I stopped in to check them out at an off time, just liked we tried to at the Fairfax location to avoid the rush, but it was a similar story, about a 20 minute wait at 3pm. No biggie though, this location has way more space to wait and we actually ended up being able to snag a seat in the bar area. Score! Our meals were delicious and our server was very nice. They are still slightly unorganized, and I expect this for the next couple of months. But it's definitely worth the trip! Also, I'm very impressed with the amount of food for the price. I'm going to start this review with something you would typically end with in a restaurant... Their dessert!! You have to and I mean you HAVE to order their tres de leche cake. It is just to die for. I seriously believe I could eat that for dessert for the rest of my life and be satisfied. I do have to mention that I loved this dessert because of the mushy texture from the cake being soaked in condensed milk. However, some people at my table stated they disliked the cake due to the mushy texture. (So there seems to be a strong preference based opinion about this cake) But based on my opinion, it is so delicious that you would not regret ordering it. It was sweet enough but not too overly sweet where you feel like you need a glass of milk. The sauce drenched in the cake was so sweet and seriously mind blowing. As far as their food goes, it is clearly not authentic Mexican style food. It's very much Americanized Mexican food. I really enjoyed Chuy's. It was a Friday night around 8:30pm and we waited maybe 25 minutes. As we waited, we went over to the bar area and dived into the chips and salsa nacho bar and ordered 2 margaritas. The bar area is only for a limited appetizer menu and does not offer the full menu so keep that mind. The margaritas were delicious, it was not too strong but had the right amount. The ambiance is relaxing actually, wasn't too loud at all. I enjoyed looking at all the artwork and the color in the restaurant. This is a very kid-friendly place! As we sat down, our waiter Dawn came over and brought us water. She was very kind, funny and attentive. We definitely enjoyed having her as our waitress. I like that they refill your bowl with warm tortilla chips everytime they see its getting low. My fiance ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. The steak was juicy and chicken was really flavorful. The tortilla was my favorite actually, it was thin just how I like it and it brought out the meat and not overbearing with tortilla. I ordered the #6 combo of cheese enchilada, sirloin taco and chicken chulupa. My favorite was the sauce that comes with the enchilada, forgot the name but its tangy. The food is really fresh here and my food was delicious. Now the best part was the flan. Oh my gosh! It melts in your mouth and tasted homemade. You must get this when you come here. Everything was affordable with most entrees $10-$15. Also the drinks were about $6-$12, which is great. They use fresh lime, agave and have tons of tequila to choose from. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and we started our day dining al fresco at Chuy's. The "patio" [read concrete sidewalk with metal fencing] was appropriately shaded on this 90 degree day. The seats were comfortable and we were seated very quickly by a friendly and smiling hostess. Our server was friendly and adequately attentive - we did have to request napkins but she apologized and returned with them immediately. We started with chips and queso dip which were delivered as expected. I do like Chuy's chips a lot, they are flaky, light and thinner than usual -- thinner in a good way. The queso was delicious, a bit spicier than I prefer but that's me, not them. The top shelf margarita was delicious. Chuy's honored my son's special quesadilla order request (he wanted steak quesadillas which are not on the menu) and I had the tacos. Both were cooked well. Always great service. And I can't get enough of that cilantro ranch dip with their thin, crunchy chips.

It started out great...we arrived around 1930 and we were greeted, seated right away, and brought chips, salsa and drinks. It is now 2004 and now are being given excuses like 'i thought we were waiting on one more person...' our 5th person came in 5 minutes later than us because he was parking the car. Our waiter walked by us several times and even looked at us (that's him in the background) he came over to our table after he saw us take the picture and acted like he didn't know what was going on. He asked if there was anyway that he could 'save this' but immediately started blaming us and did not acknowledge that he did not come back to check on us again in the 30 minutes before we took the picture. The drinks don't skimp, their food is delicious and their tres leeches and flan are off the hook! Fun environment and great staff. Our server, Orlando, was charming and great! This was our first time visiting Chuy's and we were totally satisfied. My wife had the Chuychinga and I had the Chicken Fajitas. The chips and salsa with ranchero were addictive. The food was fresh and tasty and the portions were definitely a deal for the price. My wife enjoyed the frozen mango magarita. Our server (Tony Orlando) was delightful and humorous. Came to celebrate my wife's birthday today. Chuy's is her favorite restaurant. We have tried before to get in here, but the wait was to long. This will be her 3rd time her while it is my first. Upon entering the door, I saw Chuy's shirts for 2018. The picture with Han Solo and Chewbacca dressed like Mexicans is the number one selling shirt. I will take a picture of it later on. This restaurant is much bigger than the one in Fairfax Virginia. I wonder if this restaurant will have more options on food... It would seem a few new options have popped up on the menu, but the new fish cup was what got my wife's attention. The drink and cup cost $15.99 but you get to keep the cup. I thought about getting one myself, but decided against it. Orlando was our waiter. He greeted us warmly and had a good memory on what we wanted. The drinks were served and the chips were were given were good. Especially if you were as hungry as I was. Safety notice, if your not careful with the chips you eat, you can impale yourself with a sharp end of the chips into your gums. The food took a while to come out, but with the wait. The chicken cascadia was delicious. Add a little sour cream awesome. The only thing missing was bacon. The restaurant was very busy, but I liked the pictures the put all over the place. I did not like the men bathroom. The urinals had pee all over the floor, and the trash was all over the floor. I know it was busy, but the that kind of mess on the floor has been there for a while....it also makes us men look bad...I could say more but you the reader get the point. This place is awful! The manager and the staff have no idea what they are doing! Instead of turning off their door dash system at 2 pm in the afternoon they are canceling orders manually when they come in through door dash!! I placed the same order two time being charged both time then it says canceled I called the restaurant and door dash door dash confirmed they are canceling the order because it's to "busy" now I have 3 charges on my card that will not return to my account for a week or longer!!! I've been here a couple of times with my children. The service is not the best and the food can be hit or miss. The last time I visited this restaurant i ordered the chicken chuyichanga. Not sure if they switched chefs but it was horrible. It was stuffed with an overbearing amount of cheese. I also ordered queso dip which was served cold. The waiter took forever to bring out our food and drinks. After the first couple times here, I stopped going due to poor service and bad food. read more

Bar service was great while I enjoyed dinner after a little shopping. Had quite a few margarita mini's which was so great. I love olives and I also love jalapeños but I never had them at the same time until I stop to have the Texas mini. Olives stuff with jalapeños was a good fantasy come true.
